We're soon to be relegated so I couldn't really give a toss what happens in this now long as we make some sort of effort to attack.

Garratt, Turton, Ray (lol), Nugent, Guthrie, Inman, Fox, Jones, Bakayogo, Haber, Hitchcock

2-0 Barnsley win. Absolutely no goals and very little creativity in that weak as piss side whatsoever.

Should be going to this one, ought to be confident given our respective positions in the table/form but we've been fairly poor the last two games and will be missing Hammill and White down the left side. I'd have really fancied the former to terrorise the Crewe right back but he stupidly got himself sent off last night at Bury.

We need to win if we're serious about making a push for the top 6. I've a feeling we'll draw though.

I too can see a draw out of this one. I think we have a little bit of creativity in us, all of it from Inman though. If Barnsley do one thing, they should mark/kick him out of the game. Once he loses his effectiveness/fitness, we are stuffed. Hopefully though he'll look a bit brighter with a week off and an actual striker in Hitchcock to feed balls to. Cooper is back, which at least gives us an option off the bench.

Barnsley on the other hand are seemingly 2 important players down and played yesterday on a heavy pitch. Hopefully that means we are slightly fresher towards the end of the game.

I'm sure my fellow Alex fans won't agree and will claim we are already down(which is probably true), but these next 4 are our last chance saloon. Need 7 points, minimum. Anything less than that and it becomes a sweepstake as to which opponent will relegate us. We probably are done, but this truly is the last chance saloon.

One of the last League One games we'll see at Gresty Road in a long, long time I think.

Can't really see us winning. A draw depends on what Hitchcock is like nowadays but surely more will be effective than Saunders.

We are getting what we thoroughly deserve and sadly nothing will change.

Shame we had fans at that forum (didn't go myself because Crewe aren't worth the travelling costs currently but knew it'd be a disappointment) who lapped up everything Bowler, Gradi and Dull Davis said. Fucking club is going up the wall.

We can call for Davis to be sacked each week but the clueless prick won't leave. Absolute travesty.

I bet if we looked back at every Crewe match day thread, us Crewe fans would have repeated ourselves over and over about Davis, the board, our midfield, our defence, our shite excuse for a club. And every thread till the end of the season will see the same points and frustrations raised. Its not fucking worth the time putting them down in massive speeches anymore.

First 10 minutes, started badly. No, really! I know, surprising right?

After that, grew into it and whilst the lead wasn't deserved, I'll take it. Pleased for Guthrie, been our player of the season so far. Not that he's been that good, he's just the single consistent player we have.

2nd half was a total shambles as per. Goals from 2 set pieces, quell surprise. Credit to Barnsley, they looked like a decent team and should have won by more than 1. But we are a total disgrace and we are now down. Start planning for League 2 from here on out. Give Baillie a chance at RB, maybe Howell in midfield for Jones. Drop Nugent as well, he was atrocious today. Not playing for anything now, least the pressure and expectation is off.

Had a nice 45 minute chat with Bowler after the game. Same stuff spouted about Cat 2 being the only way forward, about continuity, blah blah blah. We are in deep deep trouble. Eventually they will realise that Davis needs to go. I think they are out of options. They won't go outside the club due to Thordarson, but I don't think they are sure about Collins either. I think they genuinely don't have a clue about how to replace SD and they are sitting on their hands because of it. Oh well, League One was fun...oh wait, no it wasn't. Roll on League Two and more of the same.

Is that it now for Crewe?

6 points at this stage is a big old gap and with Crewe's goal difference you've pretty much got to win 3 more games than two of your relegation between now and the end of the season. We'll do what we can at Oldham on Tuesday chaps.

Thanks again for Anthony Grant btw- top player.

What, by losing? We're done, finished. We've won 6 games(most of them barely) in 33. We aren't winning more than 2-3 games over the last 13, let alone the 6-7 we need to stay up. Team isn't good enough. Defence is patchy and being asked to defend for 80 minutes a game, a midfield that doesn't cover the defence or support the attack and a group of forwards that have 1 decent player that won't even be here next season.

It's a sweepstake now as to which game we go down on. Just pray to god that it isn't the Vale game, things could get very ugly if that happens.

From what I've heard Dario doesn't want another Holland where a talented coach (in his eyes) leaves us as a result of not being good enough for the managers job. The board need to stop thinking we're a unique special club and bring in an outsider who will not only use the Academy but promote discipline, creativity and regain our traditional attacking philosophy which we have shunned completely under Davis. However this won't happen.

Towel has been thrown in by the team on evidence of last two games. May be lucky to get over 40 points now.

Pointless (lol) getting angry about. Their way or no way. We can do nowt about it.

Can we hand in a resignation to the league and just get relegated now? I can't be arsed with us now

Three points away from home is always great, regardless of how rubbish the opposition is. Relegation might not be the worst thing in the world for Crewe, we were stagnating in the Championship and relegation, while not making an immediate impact, eventually led to a bit of a rejuvenation for us, enjoying a great run in the league and a Wembley final to come with a squad that wants to play for the club for what seems to be the first time in ages.

Pretty naff performance from us yesterday, lack of effort and application in the first half although we should have been a couple of goals up in the first 10 minutes. Better second half but it took set pieces to save us and we'll have to be better in the next few games against teams around us.

Crewe didn't lack effort but definitely lacked quality and Davis said as much on Radio Stoke after. It's going to be a very tough ask to stay up (preaching to the choir now) but I hope you manage it. Good luck for the rest of the season.

Edit: totally agree Craig.

But our club has pretty much zero interest in the first team as long as the academy is functioning. We're going to have a weaker squad next season which will mean another relegation scrap. Within 12 months, half our fans will be convinced by the club/media that survival in L2 is a massive achievement "for a club our size".

I went on Mad earlier and the most staunch of Davisites on that site said the following things.

"There aren't too many teams to worry about in League Two."

"9 times out of 10 we'd have beaten Eastleigh"

"If we actually backed Davis for once I reckon he'd succeed"

The thing is, a considerable amount of the moderate home support who don't want Davis sacked (i.e the ones who don't go away unless it's Shrewsbury/Vale) hold very similar views to this fan. I genuinely think struggling in League Two would be the straw that will break the camel's back for us and things will get nasty when the likes of Morecambe, Accrington and Barnet run riot at Gresty Road next season. I mean look at what happened to Gradi in late 2011, the moderates turned on him after a good Torquay side turned us over.

McGarry, to his partial credit, has said in the past if Davis was in this position in the league below he'd be replaced. So League Two will go one of two ways with us. If we consolidate in it then Steve Davis will be here for 10 more years like Tisdale at Exeter. If we struggle he's gonna get binned, simple as that.

"9 times out of 10 we'd have beaten Eastleigh"

Hahahaha. The hilarious thing about this comment is that we were that awful that day, we'd have been beaten more convincingly 9 times out of 10. Got away with a 1-0 defeat.

Genuinely hate some of our fan base, they have the sort of conversation on Crewe sad that was a clone of the sort of answer John Bowler was giving at the fans forum a couple of weeks ago. Utterly deluded.

I think apathy will suffocate the club before things get nasty. Those who are happily spoon fed will stay that way, those on the opposite side are drifting away season by season. There won't be enough left who care.
