God I cannot wait for this game, it's been too long. Coker and Hunt could be out injured and Timlin definitely is out if the first 2 do miss the game I'll be gutted. Hunt improves us immensely whilst Coker is consistently superb. All Southend heading into this full of confidence and imagine all Colchester absolutely dreading it so it's all set up for a col u win. Can't believe I just wrote that but it's just the way it goes.

Have to predict 0-5 to us but wouldn't be surprised if we got done :(

Hopefully not, but we seem to have issues with Col U over the years.

All my hope is being placed into the 'new manager effect' basket. Been dreading this one, but at least with a new guy in charge there is a slither of optimism that the players will be out to impress. Hopefully we're firing up front and I'll go for an end-to-end 3-3 draw.

Who do Col U dislike more?
Saarfend or Ipswich?

Varies. In Colchester you will see lots of Ipswich fans but no Southend fans really, so to that extent I would dislike Ipswich more. So many people travel past our ground to go to Portman Road, they're patronising and I grew up with Ipswich fans mocking us.

However, we never play them so because of that it's probably Southend. Looking forward to tomorrow!

Dagenham?

Not heard of them, what division are they in?

anyway, half of the games that actually matter gone this season and Southend are 1 for 2, bring on February 6th.. Are we actually decent btw or is this division just a bit crap seeing as Southend are right in the playoff mix.

There wasn't a lot in it to be honest. I thought Southend were pretty negative for the opening half an hour and we really ought to have gone ahead with a few scuffed opportunities, but then they grew into the game towards half-time. Going behind so soon after the break didn't seem to change too much and we had a bit of a decent spell. Unfortunately, Elokobi is a liability these days and went walkabouts and fell over to make it two, and that was that. We were toothless for the rest of the half and never looked like getting back into it.

Another defeat at Gillingham coming up on Monday, another shit calendar year in succession.

We didn't start particulary well in the first 20 mins and should have been 2 down in all honesty if not for some smart goalkeeping and a woeful finish hit straight at Bentley, maybe it took a little time for the centre backs to get to grips with the windy conditions but for the rest of the game we were pretty solid and didn't give much away. Not a great performance from us by any stretch but really pleasing to come away with a win and clean sheet, impressed with some of your attacking play at times but you can see you're missing that final killer instinct that maybe the injured Sordell would have provided and we have back in our team with the likes of Noel Hunt now back from injury, Moncur was very good though.

This was my first visit to the WHCS having been to Layer Road a few times, much better match day experience but I was disappointed in how far away from the pitch the stands were, decent atmosphere though and a shame they had to block off quite a few seats in both the North Stand and the East, quite a lot of lost revenue there I'd imagine.
