I want either Denmark or Norway to be drawn against Sweden and knock them out. The Swedes need to be found out for what they really are: not very good. I badly want Hungary to qualify though. Never seen them at a finals unlike the other 7.

NI and Wales in Pot 4.

Ireland either pot 3 or 4 if they get through.

Are you 30 or under? They reached the World Cup
finals in 1986, where their main achievement was losing 6-0 to the USSR.

The world doesn't exist outside of Europe and South America it seems.

Re Hungary, one of my first World Cup memories is of the pasting they took off the Soviets, but only four years earlier they put ten past El Salvador at the Spanish World Cup.

QUITE. It's genuinely quite a remarkable feat. They've ended up with a paltry points haul of 13 from 10, five points adrift of a play-off place. Not even getting close to a tournament that's now admitting roughly half the nations in the whole continent is hilariously bad.

They didn't even make the playoffs.

So not one of the best 28 sides in Europe.

:fl:

Looks like Wales have already won it! How embarrassing.

They may as well have. Wales have been within a game of qualifying for a major tournament on six occasions: 77, 81, 83, 85, 93 and 03. We've finally done it and I've not stopped smiling since. If we can't celebrate now, when can we, as we won't win Euro 2016.

It seems a bit churlish to say Welsh football fans shouldn't have a bit of fun for once. You'll be telling me next that I shouldn't have been singing La Marseillaise and songs about Hal Robson-Kanu in a Zenica bar at 3am on Sunday morning!

No harm in celebrating but confetti, champagne and having a podium on the pitch is a bit much.

As for the bolded bit, completely acceptable!

Without the Weight Of The Nation™ on our shoulders, we don't have to be dour like our English counterparts. We're allowed to have fun.

I genuinely can't think of any celebration involving the Welsh national side qualifying for the European Championships would be "a bit much".

What if they were presented a trophy? (Which is the only time having a podium on the pitch is acceptable imo)

I think that would be fine as long as it was someone famous presenting. e.g. Charlotte Church.

Damn. I was hoping Republic would get Hungary.

I'm glad they avoided Sweden although mind you them vs Denmark will be quite tasty. You'd imagine Ukraine will be fine against Slovenia and I'd fancy Norway over Hungary. I can see Bosnia having too much for Republic unfortunately.

Are Bosnia that good? They were a goal away from letting Cyprus beat them to 3rd place.

Ireland get the 2nd leg at home too so that's definitely one of the best they could've hoped for.

And Ireland almost let Scotland in!

Bosnia had a poor start, sacked their manager and finished winning 5/6 games. They aren't outstanding but better than their overall record in qualifying shows. I think they'll beat Ireland.

You haven't. They were actually shit. I put a lay on a 1-1 draw and they (and me) were lucky that they didn't concede. Norway are still well in this tie, they were by far the better team hit by a counter attack and a really poor mistake from the keeper. They should have had a penalty and hit the crossbar. They will still fancy their chances.

Apparently they have a new International team manager and since then they've been pretty good, according to Bosnians on Reddit anyway.
15 points from a possible 18 with the new manager
