Let's refresh everyone's memories with where we stand in the groups, who may join, the surprise package, the usual suspects et al.
Group A
A surprising one. Czech Republic have won 4 from 4 while Iceland won all their games except for a defeat in Prague. More commendable, both sides have beaten Holland who don't look to go anywhere these days. They're 3rd with 2 wins and 2 defeats from 4 games.
No great opposition next weekend. The afore mentioned top 3 will face the bottom 3: Turkey, Latvia and Kazakhstan.
Group B
Another group where the favourites haven't started great. Belgium could only manage a win and 2 draws from their opening 3 games. Israel benefitted from that with 3 wins in as many games. Wales are also doing well with 8 points from 12. Both sides square up on Saturday. Winner will take a serious option to qualify halfway through the qualifiers.
One thing that needs to be clarify is the complete and utter destruction of Bosnia. How a team with that much quality only achieve 2 points from 4 games? Thankfully, they play in Andorra.
Group C
4 wins from 4 for Slovakia who lead the group. Big game in Spain as they host Ukraine with both sides on 9 points. The top 3 should be these sides. There's already a 6-pt gap between 3rd and 4th.
Group D
The most exciting group by far. Germany have had trouble coping with their world champion status with defeat in Poland and a score draw at home to Ireland. They travel to Georgia which should brings them points on the table.
The big game will be in Ireland as they host table-toppers Poland.
Group E
Most boring group? England are already 6 points clear at the top with a 100% record which should continue to the 5th game as they host Lithuania. In other news, Switzerland host Estonia and paint dries.
Group F
Greece need to win their games to avoid a shameful failure to qualify for the Euros. The last game was at home to the Faeroes which they lost at home 0-1. Can they get back on track under their new manager in Hungary?
Romania top the table with 10 points from 12 while Northern Ireland are just behind with 9 points. NI host Finland.
Group G
Not a bad group this. Austria top the table are looking at making it to their first international competition since France 98. Sweden are 2nd and Russia are 3rd. No juicy fixtures this time around.
Group H
Italy share top spot with Croatia as they cancelled each other out last time out. Norway are just a point behind with 3 wins from 4. They travel to Croatia hoping they'll be able to get into the top 2.
Group I
The only 5-nation group of the qualifiers. Denmark and Portugal should seal the top 2 without too much trouble. Albania could clinch 3rd spot in front of Serbia and Armenia.
