This is not a sentence I ever expected to hear to be honest.

We are probably the only team likely to look forward to playing them. Would have been a terrible reward for Yeovil, no wonder they looked so flat.

It was around the time we had financial issues and were struggling to stay afloat basically.
Charlton were in the Prem but couldn’t fill their stadium because they are fucking tinpot.
They were giving subsidised tickets and coach travel to people in Kent and Medway, picking fans up from near the stadium.
Basically trying to put us out of business completely.
Classless, shit club.
Groups of Charlton fans attended our 'last ever league game' against Halifax in the 90s, and tried to give out leaflets to our fans to encourage them to go to The Valley the following season once we'd gone bust. They were fortunately given short shrift. On the flip side when Brighton were nearly as dead a couple of years later we gave them a place to play when no-one else would. That's the difference in class between us and that lot. We have a lot of faults but I thank my lucky stars I wasn't born into a Charlton supporting family.

Norwich away, I looked at Peterborough away as the worst case possible, this pushes it close. Little chance of winning, miles away and not likely to make much money.

Bristol Rovers you're welcome to it.

Entirely disagree with Bristol Rovers being welcome to it, beat Rovers and, coupled with the prize money and cut of the gates we'll make £125K at least in addition to the £125K we've already made from prize money, TV money and two games vs Derby.

£250K towards depth is nothing to be sniffed at. Besides, Norwich will rotate so they'll definitely be beatable should we beat Bristol Rovers and that's another £105K in the pot if we did pull off an upset. The alternative is playing Mansfield away, a promotion 6 pointer and potentially with less depth than we may well have in the rearranged game.

Lol at what would've been our draw. Genius team selection from Williams.

Notts to be investigated for match fixing, no? Jesus christ, it should be an automatic crime for conceding 3 against them turnip munching tractor loving 6 finger inbred wankers, but come on....that's a whole new level of match fixing defending.

We'd seen the draw in advance and decided we wanted absolutely no part of it.

Think it’s pretty obvious we’re going to have to completely rebuild the defence, starting in January. It’s not even ‘defending’ in the obvious sense, they’re just making unforced error after unforced error at this point. We’ve conceded eight in the last three and only one of those, a screamer by Crawley, wasn’t entirely down to a horrible individual mistake by someone. Our forwards must hate them all.

We said that you'd get annihilated when you got promoted, but didn't think they'd be that bad...

Thing is, they’ve been okay at most things. We’ve not conceded a huge amount from the high line, we’re middling at defending set pieces despite our lack of height. They just keep passing the other team the ball on the edge of our own box. Seems that the slight bit of extra pace of teams pressing at this level is too much for them. Cameron has largely been decent and Baldwin is so good 80% of the time that you kind of just have to accept it when he malfunctions like on Friday night, but Rawlinson and Brindley just don’t look up to it unfortunately.

And despite chucking the ball in our own net on such a regular basis, we’ve still not conceded vast amounts more than you lot. ;)

Yeah shockingly bad.

6th, point behind 2nd. Horrific.

I blame that moron Luke Williams, concentrating too much on short corners and not on defending.

It's just every game you make the same shitty mistakes! It's like a vicious circle. Poundland Pep doesn't seem on changing his methods too much, does he? Surely by now you'd have a bit of a think of eliminating said defending, or lack of.

Its a good job not many teams know how to play against it, otherwise you'd be a lot lower down.

Regarding us, apart from a crazy amount of goals conceded in the first month with a grandad in goal, we're not too bad, thanks.

I'm not sure 'you'd be a lot lower down in the table if more teams were able to beat you!' is a statement that only applies to Notts.

Well for what it’s worth we started to rebuild our defence last January, got Calum Johnson and Alfie Kilgour in, the latter who was absolutely immense untill the freak injury early this season. So it can be done.

We do regularly make the same mistakes, but not the high line issues that our brethren in North Wales predicted. We also score lots of goals regularly. The net result to date is Top 6.

I hope Moron Williams (?) can adapt , or alternatively we upgrade in January. I can't see Parkinson changing too much on his direct approach. Lots of managers have a certain style and that's ya lot.

Yeah, no doubt we’ll be able to do it, think it’s just a case of us having been a bit too loyal to a few players from last season. We didn’t sign any senior defenders in the summer.

Realistically I think we’re a play-off team this season, but one who would be a danger in that as we can be so good when it’s our day and it comes off. But with all of our attacking assets already on contracts for next season, we’ve got two windows to fully focus on and solve the defensive issues and lack of depth for a proper attempt at a Stockport sort of route next season.

I know this is a comment made. in jest but we've largely overcome our defensive issues (or at least had until Okonkwo got injured to add to our long list of injured defenders).

in October and November we conceded 10 goals, Notts conceded 23- both in 13 games.

A bit more work to do for Williams than Parky.

Definitely more work for Williams to do than Parky but that's to be expected as we are operating on a shoestring budget by comparison to the riches Philip has been given to play with.

Mistakes are part of the game.

Have you also used the internet to check the rumoured wealth of our owners family?

That £14m big mistake got us promoted and so much more. So......

If you want to find big mistakes linked to Notts County FC it's really easy and you do not have to go back far, but importantly you have to go back before the current owners.

They've made very few.

If you don't spend you end up in non league football for a very long time :shifty:

Ah, the annual reminder that nobody has suffered more than Wimbledon and their phoenix club.
For example we slid through three divisions, nearly went bust twice, nearly lost our ground, multiple winding up orders, had an idiot owner most of our fans worshipped and couldn't pay the players wages, but nobody has suffered more than Wimbledon thanks to their media pals.

Come on Ramsgate.
