Learnt this sort of qualifies as fowk today. OK, so it's experimental/ambient/whatever, but all the vocals are taken from sampling lost recordings of a cappella Icelandic fowksong recorded in the late '60s/early '70s. Rabelais remarked upon their haunting quality, and took it to its creepy conclusion by sampling them in such a way, and slapping cryptic Middle English titles to each track. The result is both unsettling and not, and can be deeply immersive.

Couldn't find Martin Carthy's version of Trimdon Grange, so try this for an uplifting start to the day:

When you have time, lots of interesting snippets in all of theses interviews. Part 2 seems to have particular resonance with today's Labour Party's self indulgent internal conflicts:

Kris Drever's (of Lau relative fame) latest album If Wishes Were Horses is incredible.

Prefer Lau - but then there are only a few, select, self accompanied singers that I enjoy. I'll try some tracks off the album though.

Picked up this Whippersnapper album called TSUBO on my travels. Swarb gets away from the traditional stuff, particularly on side 2, but this gem is the only track I could find on Youtube.

Really good sound and some great songs/tunes from Chris Leslie, Kevin Dempsey, Steve Winwood and Swarb.
