Tresor was good when I was there too. Didn't get a chance to go to Berghain but it can be a bitch to get into, luckily Tresor/SC are both near.

Also bear in mind if you plan to go up the Reichstag you have to book in advance.

Tresor is brilliant. I miss those clubs in Asia...

Canary islands or North African beaches are all within 5 hours, infact i'm judging from LBA or Mancheshter airport so North Africa might be under 3 hours from there?

How about Madeira, Dave? Heard good things about it, might be a decent alternative to the Canary Islands.

Going Las Palma with the family in a few weeks, hoping to check out the volcano.

Also planning on taking the lady away for a weekend in September and was thinking Munchen. Although anywhere with a Hard Rock Cafe is fine. (I'm a Hard Rock Cafe nut - got to try and visit as many Hard Rocks in the world before I die)

Im going to New York for a week in June and we're just reaching the stage where I starting to plan where exactly I want to go, as there is so much, theres no chance Ill be able to do it all. Definitely doing a baseball game (have decided to do the Mets rather than Yankees) going to Ellis Island (though less interested in Liberty Island) staying in Brooklyn so having a day there, Prospect Park, Coney Island, walking across the Brooklyyn Bridge etc. and obviously plenty of sight seeing. Has anybody been before and can recommend anything outside the obvious? Or any of the big name attractions that I just afford to miss?

I did the tour at The Olimpiastadion when I was over there for the Wolfsburg game in November. Even if Hertha arent playing, I would recommend the tour. Didnt cost a lot, and there is a lot of history on site, as obviously it was built for the 1936 Olympics. Lots of artifacts there and statues, you can walk pretty much freely all around the inside of the stadium, and then pay a bit more to go up the tower overlooking the former track on the far side. Would have loved to have seen a game there if I could have so Ill have to go back at some point!

The Berlin Wall museum is well worth a look too. We stayed at the bottom of the street where the wall used to be, loads on the street along where it ran then a little indoor museum at the end where you can overlook a section of the wall that has been preserved as the whole lot looked at the time.

When I was in San Francisco in March I did a tour of AT&T Park (San Francisco Giants). One of my favourite parts of the trip. Such a unique stadium compared to what your used to with football grounds and cricket grounds. I said to myself that if I ever go to America again, wherever I go i'm going to try check out a few more baseball grounds.

Yeah, Im planning on doing the tour at Yankee Stadium too. Would have looked at going to a New York City FC game there had there been one, but they're at home the day I fly home. Thats one of the things I love most about European away trips is seeing how other countries do sport. There are no games there when Im over, but I also want to see if I can get inside Staten Island Yankees ground, cant be many better views from a stadium than this!

Nice! Beats the classic town centre location!

brooklyn-cyclones-470x234.jpg

Brooklyn Cyclones MCU Park is also built right in the middle of Coney Island, so is surrounded by the fair!

12 days in Cork/Dublin/Edinburgh/Inverness/Aberdeen for £232. Flights, accommodation, trains etc. Can't believe we've got it as cheap as this.

Saw a game there three years ago, great venue with some fantastic views. Sat on side to the right of this picture. Gets bit cold later in the evening being so close to the water. One of the players hit a home run into the water where people in kayaks were waiting to get the ball. They were sat there all evening and there was a mad dash to paddle to the ball to get it when it finally got hit out of the ground.

went there last August, great place, my favourite stadium though is Fenway Park followed by Wrigley, so much aura about them both, spoke to a few cub fans that still believe they are cursed :D

I checked an online article regarding the best MLB grounds this year, AT&T Park was 1st with Fenway 2nd. Fenway & Wrigleys definitely seem to have that old school feel to them. I'd love to be able to visit all the MLB grounds, unfortunately that ain't gonna happen!

If any of you lads are looking for a wee change I recommend Krakow in Poland, lovely place, their vodka is delicious and if you are a bum guy, I seen so many polish girls with shapely rears, was glorious. Went to a club or five and they're kinda dark and dingy but still good craic everyones having a good time but there is also like quiet wee bars barely bigger than a standard bedroom with various types of vodkas/shots/absinthe.

You've never had Polish Vodka!

Bought a bottle back from Katowice and it was like drinking a 20% apple juice. Messy, messy night for all involved.

The HRC is right in the city centre just across a very touristy brewery called the Höfbrauhaus where you get all the traditional Bavarian things such as the massive beers, the bretzels and the local clothing. It's one of those things you could do if you visit (especially since you'll be two feet away) but I'd recommend going to a proper beer house (or Keller as they call it) which is much better.
I can't recommend Munich enough for a couple. It really is the perfect place for going on walks, hiking, skiing, etc. One problem though: getting a place to stay is very pricey. You're better off booking an AirBnB.

We saw a game at Staten Island Yankees when we were over there. I have no understanding of baseball, but it was enjoyable and the view was tremendous. The price of admission was reasonable too.

Off to Barcelona for a week or so in July, first holiday I have had for just over 5 years!

How can you not have been on holiday for five years? You only live once man!

Money really. Plus my family/friends are not always very organised.

In all fairness, before that, I had been to France twice (Le Touquet and Paris), Rome and Majorca so I haven't suffered too badly...having said that, I have spent 2 years in Coventry so maybe I have.

Ive never been a holiday person, this trip to New York is what I consider to be my first proper 'holiday' in over 10 years. Ive done the odd weekend or few days somewhere in the UK, and done European trips for the football, but I was probably in college the last time I went on a holiday.

I've got a theme park road trip coming up in the summer in America hitting a lot of the parks that I have wanted to go to for years and years. Starting out in New York and heading as far south as Charlotte and as far west as Cincinnati. Finishing up back in New York. Most people I have told about it have said that I am mad but as an amusement park nerd it is pretty much my dream holiday.

I didn't have any problems when I went for a game but most of my friends got something nicked so keep your things close to you. Feel me?

As long as it beats Coventry.

I lived in Barcelona for 18 months. It certainly beats Coventry.

I know money is a huge factor in things like holidays, so didn't mean for my previous post to sound like a snob or anything. However, there's a whole world out there, and with a bit of planning / working out, it can be so cheap.

A holiday doesn't need to be save for two years, trans-Atlantic flights, 5* hotels, organised tours and out dining / drinking every night.

Flight to a European city, couchsurf in a local's home and meet their friends for a weekend, then go help out on a farm / homestay for two weeks where you work for a couple of hours a day in exchange for food, accommodation and exploring whatever nature they live by. Then head to another European city, repeat the couchsurfing and get another cheap flight home. 3 weeks, no need for more than £200. That's about what you pay for a month's council tax.
