Well he scored a goal. I usually started with Patrick Roberts on the left and Sterling on the right, and Lingard came on as sub in a few games for one of them. The press would have been going ballistic about him even being there, though. Blatant big-club bias.

Roberts got injured the day before I announced my squad. I was pretty excited about having him as an impact sub option (I don't play with wingers and only usually use them if I'm chasing the game).

so i went for a slightly different approach to this challenge, took smats advice and scouted every position based on form and performances, cleared the current england squad and ended up with quite a rag tag team with quite a few uncapped players. delli alli actually got injured in the days leading up to the competition kicking off and he was replaced by his team mate Dier

so i went in to the group stages, and pretty much pissed them and didnt concede a single goal

next round was a tricky round 2 tie against Uruguay but i breezed that too

which lead to a quarter final game against ze germans..... and lo and behold i get a golden goal from Welbs!

resulting in a semi final draw against defending champs France.... what an interesting game this was and my players did their best to fuck things up with 2 sendings off but i got through on pens with the young Kidd getting our only goal of the game

the other semi was against the Argies and the Austrians and guess who i got...... the fake germans! considering i lost three of my midfielders in the previous round i wasnt confident and the game went the distance to pens.... which i won again!!

football is indeed coming home!

seemed to find a good run of fortune in this challenge. i dont know if choosing random players helped but Ibe was my top scorer on 2 and Hart got into the dream team.

i do believe this has helped my score somewhat?
