Obviously a significant chance of it being bollocks, but the rumour is we have Blackburn at home opening day. I’m sceptical as I thought the police keep local teams apart on the opening weekend, but that’d be a tasty one.

Preston at home, close enough! Three of our first five at home are local derbies.

Will be interesting to follow these Lancashire rivalries. Just an observation, but aren’t Preston and Blackburn the closest grounds to each other ? Why then, isn’t that the biggest rivalry ? Similar size clubs, same catchment area, similar support level

Blackburn is closer but it's still East Lancashire, Preston & Blackpool is West. Our derby ramped up in the 50's when it was Finney Vs Matthews.

Plus Blackpudlians are utter c*** and easy to hate.

Lots of Preston fans based in south Ribble hate Blackburn though, mainly from the Walker days when they claimed loads of glory hunters.

Burnley's business is just annoyingly good. Maatsen, Cullen and now it looks like O'Hare from Coventry for £5m. Linked to the Dutch U21 keeper from Anderlecht too.

Their 3 defensive signings are good on paper too. Rebuilding the right way.

They need a striker though, get a good one and I'd back them for autos.

I said the moment they go on even a sniff of a bad run, they'd turn on the manager. Any gaffer with connections to a club's biggest rivals gets less than half the patience of a normal manager.

On the up ..

Think you deserved to win .
Agreed, we defended excellently. Apart from that BBD chance in the second half they created nothing, whilst we tested their keeper numerous times.

Fooking get in!

Certainly a bad smell about the place that's for sure. Let's see what November's payday brings...

Victory over the Donkey Shaggers keeps us in the mix at least. We've done quite well against the Lancashire sides this season so far, all at home mind.

I'll begrudgingly do a league update over the break even though we'll be bottom on 2pts with 3 played. We have Blackburn away directly after the break.

Keep going Wigan. Seems you have a good decent core of support these days, to be fair, as have most of the Lancashire clubs, with several exceptions

I'd love to know Sky's obsession with Wigan vs Blackburn games. Moved our match at Ewood to a Monday night. It's a shite away day anyhow but that will ruin whatever decent following we might have taken.

Was hoping Appleton would hold on for another month at least.

The spoon burners will probably stay up now, although I've seen that crappy Liam Manning bloke linked.

There's actual talk of Mick McCarthy taking over until the end of the season.

Seems to be happening.

The old school managers always seems to get brought back by someone .

That would be such a bad appointment it's untrue. This Blackpool owner seems mental.

Only just seen they went and did this.

Don’t know what they are thinking, perhaps that he can get a similar run of form out of them that he did with Cardiff for a little bit which tempted them give him the roll full time.

Really cannot see it working.

Can't be bothered doing the table, but I'm guessing Burnley won this comfortably.

Just us and Blackburn again next year.

Could be bollocks from our gobshite fans, but supposedly Blackburn might be the next one to struggle paying their players. Could explain JDT wanting out and the sudden stop to any transfer activity after a busy start to the summer.

Ched Evans given the all-clear to start full training again.

His spine condition could have been bad enough to stop him from living a normal life, never mind playing football again. The guy is a machine.

Hopefully he comes back the same player and can play a big part in the second half of the season.

Riis back in training too, who has been out since January.

Alan Nixon claiming a Miami-based investment group is interested in buying PNE. £50m quoted in the press.

Don't care if they're nut jobs. I hope it happens.

Michael Mincberg has been mentioned. He was an investor and shareholder at Plymouth but the majority shareholder bought him out.

There has been contact to buy PNE from a New York consortium, but no official approach from the Miami group mentioned by Nixon.
