Edge of tomorrow 8/10 liked it a lot more than I thought I would
Me too, I go in to Hollywood blockbusters these days with a sense of boredom, that its all been done before and better; and though this type of film has been done before and was repetitive, I never found it boring, and with each repeat you wanted to know how farther he could go and find out the final outcome. I was the same, I enjoyed it far more than I thought I would also.

The Pyramid
People get stuck in a Pyramid, people die, James Buckley is in it. It's average. 6/10... just about.
I remember that got shocking reviews and when I saw the trailer for it, it looked woeful.

It's nothing special, the effects are a bit wank too, I'm not entirely sure how it got a cinema release. I've seen worse, probably worth an hour and a half of your time but not much more.

Macclesfield Town/Manchester City. It's complicated.
Managed to get through four films on flights to and from Orlando.

Into the Storm: Standard disaster movie fare with various characters being killed in nasty ways. Some great set pieces and on the five inch screen on the seat in front of me, the SFX looked pretty good. Nothing too spectacular plot wise.

Lucy: Bizarre action/sci Fi thing. The science behind it is piss poor and the cutaways are a bit jarring. Erm. Ok I suppose.

Birdman: Another very strange film but entertaining and intruiging. Worth another watch when not on an overnight flight!

Monsters Dark Continent: Not really sure why they bothered. Hints at some of the themes of the original but just didn't seem to matter overall. I was half asleep at this point, mind.

The Adam West Batman film.

an easy 10/10 it is just extremely funny, that superb shark attack from the helicopter to the ridiculous 'getting rid of the bomb' segment.

always great when re-watching to find other new gems, found out about the hilarious scene when they are stuck in the ocean with a torpedo coming towards them and get saved when a porpoise deliberately commits suicide to save the lives of Batman and Robin and they go all over this 'noble death' of this animal which sacrificed its life for the bigger picture

I wonder what some kids who have only ever seen Christian Bale as Batman would think of it.

I've only seen a bit of that film, where he's trying to dispose of a bomb near water and he can't throw it in as there's ducks swimming there and he doesn't want to blow them up! :D

I love the tv series, it was brilliant fun. Will need to get round to see the film whole.

Jack O'Connell is the young private sent to Belfast with his unit in 1971, cut off from the rest of the unit when a riot breaks out while they're supporting the RUC in a house search he has to survive the night until he can be rescued. I thought it was an enjoyable watch, how factual I can't really comment on as I'm not that ITK about the troubles. 7/10

Have that sitting there, but until I get a quality pair of headphones after my others fell apart, I'm hardly watching any films just now. I ended up last night watching lectures on general relativity as I wasn't even in the mood of the Japanese comedy I watch when bored!

Mommy (2014)

Really depressing, a sad story about what it's like to have a son with serious mental disorder. Great film nonetheless, 8/10.

That's meant to be pretty good according to the reviews I've seen of it. I didn't think the kid had a disability though, I just thought he had disassociation and was a violent kid with his mum struggling to control him. Anyway I think I will watch that one of these days.

ADHD. It's pretty grim really, very well done though it must be said.

The use of the border around the screen adds to the sense of helplessness and claustrophobia I believe and they extend it every now and again for dramatic purposes. Apparently the director is only 26!

A bit weird and full of nonsensical nonsense and plot holes. A train that runs constantly for 17 years without the need of external maintenance for neither it or the track? And that's the least of it.

Worth a watch if you're bored I guess but don't go out your way.

5/10.

There's a 12minute deleted scene on the dvd of Tilda Swinton greasing the chassis components and tending to the rust on the coaches.

Spring - Justin Benson, Aaron Moorhead

A young American man heads off to Italy after his mum dies for a bit of R&R. There, he spots the love of his life...but she's a mutating monster that controls her "dark" side by injecting shizzle. Part horror, part romance, I'd say this is something a bit different from the genre. Which is good. Really enjoyable with some of the camera work and shots, stunning.

Welp (Cub) - Jonas Govaerts

A nice little Belgian horror about a group of boy scouts that venture into the woods for a camping trip with the tale of a "man who turns into a werewolf" in the back of their minds. Sadly, this isn't true. But sadly, for them, someone is hunting them. An above average horror that has a nice little twist at the end. Saying that, unresolved plotlines let the film down a little. But definitely worth a watch.

I watched Tom Cruise in Edge of Tomorrow (or Live Die Repeat, but I think Edge of Tomorrow is the better title). It was good fun, the first half is very funny, but once it has settled in it becomes no more than a solid sci fi action movie. Worth a watch I think, I tend to be put off by Cruise, but I'm glad I gave this a chance.

Isn't "Live, Die, Repeat", the tagline? I think this was one of the better sci-fi films that Hollywood has produced in the last few years. It needs more love imo.
