I think the skyblues will blow playoffs this season, I'm still gutted we once again sold the only bugger with genuine talent who will go on to play at the top level. Even though we keep him for the season he will be distracted I think , he won't want to get injured for certain. Our fantastic owners are to preoccupied suing the taxpayers of Coventry to care about anything to do with the club
I'm getting a bit sick of the constant false dawn with my club, Everytime we seem to be getting half a decent team the bloody owners sell any bugger they can.
Anyway back in court again today for SISU, that's all they care about

I agree. I genuinely thought we would win this league in a way similar to Wolves and Bristol City after we battered Gillingham, but we have been shite since.

Still think we have the best squad alongside Wigan, full of players who will probably play at a much higher level than this. Maybe that is the problem, their head isn't in it.

I think you possibly have the best attacking depth in the league, but defensively I think you're pretty average. Your keeper isn't the best either. Wigan are pretty solid throughout and I'd agree they have the best squad. Walsall and ourselves are incredibly similar in quality IMO, with Burton being the classic 'more than the sum of their parts' side.

If I had to predict the top 6 right now, I'd go:

1. Wigan
2. Walsall
3. Gillingham
4. Burton
5. Coventry
6. Southend

With us to beat Burton at Wembley...

Could be right, but I still fancy Milwall in there.

Be a poor attendance at Wembley if it were Gillingham v Burton. What 25k from Gills, 15k from Burton?

Gills would take 30k id guess. Burton about 8k tops. If you get there you would get 50k tickets as no one else will take too many barring millwall. I reckon we would struggle to break 20k at wembley these days

Last time we were in a third tier play-off final we took 45k.

We would struggle to break 10k. We took 8k against fleetwood. But then, I'm not embarrassed by that as they are supporters not those that turn up for a day out as they live in a de post code.
I too think Wigan will win it. And the saddlers runners up.
Play offs would not like to predict as it's always a lottery.

8k is still 3/4 x your home support though so quite a lot really.

I'm sure Sheffield United would take far more than 20k, I'd guess 40k plus.
Even we took 30k to Wembley last season for the JPT

Not sure what we would take. Most always say 'if we ever get to Wembley we'd sell whatever' but I am not sure. I think we could manage 45k with the bandwagon lot.

Strangely we took 14,000 to the FA Trophy final in the 80's yet only 8,000 to the league one play off final.
On the promotion thread I think who Nigel Clough brings in next week on loan will have a massive bearing on our chances of automatic promotion. We never spend money we don't have so the sale of Nasser El Khayati could fund 2 or 3 really decent players.

I'm not sure what a CEO actually does to be fair.

Its beginning to look like 4 teams in the race for the 2 automatic promotion places, namely Burton Albion, Walsall, Gillingham and Wigan. Not what was anticipated pre-season, of course with 17 or so games to play that could possibly change. Interestingly all 3 of those teams have still got to come to the Pirelli stadium.

It's Wigan plus one.

I don't think it'll be us, and Walsall fans don't think it'll be them, so it's all open for Burton.

Burton are destined to go up. They remind me a lot of Scunthorpe when they won the league despite losing Laws mid-season (blessing in disguise in hindsight) a few years back. Every set-back just seems to give them more motivation.

Us and Wigan then if you guys are throwing the towel in !
Seriously there is a lot of football to play and points to be won and lost.
I am really interested to see who Nigel Clough brings in on loan this week.

Wigan will go up for sure now. Closed the gap and look to be clicking into gear.

Play offs are wide open now Coventry have been dragged out of the breakaway 5, Us,Millwall and Southend are in form, Peterborough are dangerous, Barnsley are racing up, could be a very good race that, from what I have seen today (and at the Ricoh Boxing Day tbf) Coventry are going to need a massive improvement very soon to avoid falling out of the top 6. I can see Millwall probably running away with 5th.

Top 4 could still be anyone. I wouldn't say for certain that any of the top 4, whether it is Burton or Wigan, will be going up. Wigan could easily lose form as could Burton, still a long way to go yet.

I think for us it all depends on getting our home form sorted, Tom's injury not being a long one as well as reinforcing in the loan window on Tuesday. If not then it could very well be play offs for us, home form is the main sticking point..

Wigan to win it for me.
Barnsley and posh to get in the play offs with millwall finishing third. And then 3 (us, gills and Walsall ) fighting for the runners up spot to Wigan.
Can see Cov missing out as they seem to have lost their mojo.
I said all season millwall to go up, maybe via play offs even.

Barnsley did exactly the same last year and fell short i feel they will do the same. Burton and wigan for top 2. Gills, millwall, walsall and peterborough for playoffs i reckon now.

Our loan players look very good has to be said. Glen Kamara came on Saturday and was instantly the best player on the pitch. So tough to call atm but I'm really looking forward to the rest of the season with our current squad.

I'm not ruling out Millwall for an automatic spot.

Form side in the division after Wigan, and they're only 9pts behind 2nd.

1. Wigan
2. Millwall
---------------
3. Gillingham
4. Burton
5. Coventry
6. Walsall / Barnsley

Whilst it'd be good for a side like Walsall to get promoted, I just think they'll fade away whereas Wigan & Millwall have the momentum now to keep going.
