Define irony: Staglets who've spent decades blaming their own dismal turn-outs on a corrupt chairman trying to score petty points when Chesterfield are afflicted by similar issues.

Did I say irony? Perhaps hypocrisy would be more accurate.

Oh, and for the record no tickets were sent back.

The terrific gesture by Mansfield Town Football Club in terms of the twelfth minute applause for the little girl puts such pathetic lies into the perspective they deserve...

Rate upset to be missing this tomorrow. I think we'll get beat and it'll be a sad day, but you never want to miss these

Could you give us an example?

Could you give us an example?

'It's a shame that Chesterfield couldn't sell out for 1650 for their main derby'.

Apparently you've sent us 50 back, and then after opening your ticket office for longer .It'd be a shame for your club to lose further money on the massive losses it's already sustaining for something so daft.

'Then they don't sell it out.'

'Attendances are not everything, but anyway you try and shape this it’s a poor effort by Chesterfields fan base.'

'I would estimate our demand for away tickets to be approximately double the number for the return fixture.'

I'm not sure what point folk are trying to make, here. That Mansfield are somehow better supported than Chesterfield? Well the fact there were a thousand more at the Proact for Tuesday evening's game than Field Mill last Saturday underlines year-on-year averages proving otherwise.

We've spent the last three seasons being shit. We know it, you know it, everyone knows it. Just as MTFC were under similar circumstances.

Jack Lester's slowly turning things 'round, but it's hardly fucking brain surgery that our fans aren't falling over themselves to get to a 'been there, seen it, done that' kinda fixture.

Besides, as our lot have been saying for years these get togethers always mean more to you than us...

Everybody is well aware you are currently better supported at home, hence why it’s been surprising/pathetic it took so long to sell out (which you didn’t actually manage to do according to our twitter)

Most Chez fans agree, your just getting a bit ratty because you don’t like hearing it from your arch-rivals who are currently in the process of tipping the balance in our favour between the two clubs.

Try and not get too emotional over it, any sort of excuses like ‘mean more to you than us’ is a waste of time because everybody knows on both sides that this is the biggest rivalry.

It must be reassuring for the lad to take comfort in such irrelevance.

Is he as interested as being raped financially and being 92nd out of 92 teams. Impressive. There's only one dave Allen as they say, I hope he keeps you for some while.

Can you only take 1300 to Notts county - which was laughable at best, and barely sell out to your arch rivals because you've realised What it's like to be shit? Amazing when the fans go missing, isn't it?

Nice attempt to shift attention from that.

We're totally disillusioned with our owner, there's a big section of fans who won't go to another game until DA and AC are out of the club ('not another penny' brigade)... and we still get more than you, I'm not sure what's more embarrassing. Especially coming from the same guy who only 1 page ago said 'we don't talk about numbers'. Make your mind up little adam

Having lived through a DA and AC era at my club I wouldn't wish it on anyone, the latter being a particularly odious creature.

You've experienced nothing yet compared to some mate.

Least we've all still got football clubs!

You wouldn't be following that line of argument if it was true.

Really looking forward to this one. It's great to be favourites!

This thread is a pre match beauty, my favourite part? The bit about attendances :2thumb:

So let me get this right, Mansfield fans laughing at Chesterfields lack of away support, and Spireites taking the mick out of the Stags home support?

Nice.

Don't wanna make this personal, Adam, but if you're gonna contradict yourself in the space of the same post...

Bit daft to keep feigning indifference yet repeatedly quote a Town forum you spend an inordinate amount of time viewing, too.

I think the simple truth is you and other Staglets are judging us by your own standards. A day out in Notts just isn't the...well, I won't use the clichéd term 'cup final' but y'see what I mean, that your followers see it as. Similarly a trip to Field Mill doesn't hold the same gut-clenching excitement for us as a meeting with CFC does for you.

Enjoy your day. Hell, games against us have been rare enough over the last few decades. And enjoy the result you're strong favourites to achieve. But you'll have to forgive us if we find You Tube footage or nervous accounts of Staggies' 'biggest game of the season' somewhat amusing...

Come on, both sets of fans know this is the biggest rivalry so lets not pretend otherwise. Anyway, I am hoping it will be a cracker today. It's what football is all about. There, I've admitted it!

The worst part about football fans is the dick waving about attendances. Counts for absolutely Jack shit.

Agree, it only real counts for the chairman and the overall clubs finances which is obviously hugely important.

Fans on an Internet football forum? Ermmmm less. Especially when the clubs involved really have nothing to shout about on that front

Well, that's pretty gutting to dominate and concede late on to a bloody header. Still, I'd have taken it before the game and on the face of it it's a good point away there at a high flying team in form.

Good game Mansfield. I can't quite bring myself to say good luck for the rest of the season especially with an odious bully like that as a manager (worst person in football?) but I'll say good game and we both move on.

Another encouraging display that makes you think we'll definitely get out of this mess pretty soon.

Easily the worst performance we've put in this season, worse than the 3-1 loss at home to Swindon even.

Whereas Mansfield were the better first half team, Chesterfield were much, much better in the second half and should have won. Evatt was immense as was the left back - the black lad, no 3.

Mellis was non-existent and evans' tactics, especially the long ball was really poor. It was daylight robbery IMO.

Chesterfield with those tactics won't need to worry about relegation for long if they keep that up.

Probably a fair result in the end. Defo a game of two halves. Spireites seem to pass well and keep position but lack a little quality for the final ball. We were dire in the second half but should have been in front at half time. I think Evans put Mogadon in the tea at half time.

That performance was a let down. 2-2 is a point gained.

4-4-2 long ball wasn't working. Rose didn't win a header all game against Evatt and we were a man short in midfield. We should have switched formation and tried to hold onto the ball a bit more.

Chesterfield were really dominant and would have deserved the win, but maybe that explains why they are down near the bottom and we are up there.

We really need to improve in the return fixture.

My summary is,
First half chesterfield started quite brightly and scored a good worked goal .. after that we came into the game and had a few half decent chances, we grew into the half and from 15 mins in I felt we edged it and deserved the equaliser,
Second half, well! We never looked like putting two passes together and to be honest we looked knackered, I think the heavy pitch at port vale took its toll because we just didn't come out the same team.. although I have to say I thought chesterfield played well second half and passed the ball well but without a cutting edge, they deserved their second goal and I thought we'd shot it. It took our 1 moment of quality in the whole half to equalise .. a great header from zander diamond, I'm relieved with a point because if honest we didn't deserve it.

Gary Caldwell explains why we are down where we are sadly. It took Jack a few games but he's got us fitter and playing good stuff now. We were like 7 points adrift not long back but we've genuinely been playing like a playoff outfit for the last month or so. It's just a shame we started so shit, I don't think we'll be going down buy we need to keep plugging away. I'll take mid table for sure and push on next season when Jack has had proper transfer window.

Glad to see a fair response on here. Thought we should have won personally. We were great second half and shouldn’t have let it slip

Even though Chesterfield had a lot of confident play in the second half, I said "we will score I just know it" I can't think for one minute why I said it because we looked tired, but I was right... this season we seem to always have someone who will do something out of the ordinary when we are not playing well.
That's the difference.. we never give up even when we've lost our shape as such. Good game to be fair.

Yeah decent game overall. Enjoyed it, even if we didn't win we gave them a bloody nose of sorts. No bother around the ground from what I saw, although it was fairly quiet by then as I was a lot later getting to the ground than originally intended and almost missed the KO.

Loved some of our attacking play but we really need to stop conceding as many as we do, it makes gathering points a damn sight easier in my experience...

Mansfield need a new ground, it looks tired and very poorly looked after judging by the state of the away end. Finally, the PA system is an absolute joke, I've heard better in the Central Midlands League.
