It's that one time of the year that all you non-golfers take an interest.

No Tiger this year (good because who wants to see every single one of his 75 shots every round?), Spieth looks out of nick, Rory is still not going to win it for me, whilst former winners Scott and Watson are highly touted again. And what of World No1 Jason Day?

Best hope of a European winner for me is Stenson.

EW on Danny Willett for me. 66/1

I'm having him too. And fitzpatrick it's 8 places on skybet but he's only 55s on there. I genuinely fancy day though so might go big on him.

Jordan Spieth already top of the leader board along with Jason Day.

Rose and Casey best of the Brits so far.

Aye, what a dick.

Spieth is gonna bore his way safely round the all 4 days again like last year and make Sunday a formality by the looks of it.

EW on Lowry at 100/1. Can't see him keeping it up.

Ernie Els on the first though. Christ.

Fair point but no-one seems to be making a real charge although Rory is now 2nd...

McIlroy is staying with him.

An amateur in Casey and Speith's group is two under! Incredible!

And Speith knocks it in the bunker on 12 and faces a tricky up and down. Rory and -3 could well be leading if the wind stays up like it is.

Aye, he could well do. Just finished his round on 71.

I've backed day but if the leaders are only on 3/4 under he still has a good chance

DeChambeau is a decent player, already came runner up in the Aussie Open just before Xmas in a strong field. Rumours he will turn pro just before the US Open, therefore forfeiting his exemption as US Amateur champ.

This amateur looks like a typical yank wanker

He's a bit 'eccentric' by all accounts. Be interesting to see how he goes because if he does give up his rights as an amateur to the US Open, then his only way in is a top 10 finish here, or to win a PGA Tour title. Big gamble.

Sure the commentators said earlier this is his last tournament as an amateur

Ahh, missed that. Going to need a fair few sponsors invites though to get in some of the bigger tournaments.

Spieth / McIlroy paired together tomorrow. Gonna be interesting, given no-one looks like coming from the pack.

Great putt that fair play. I won't see any tomorrow which is depressing as Saturdays are a guaranteed full day on the piss. Hoping day gets involved for money reasons, I also have a little bet on matsuyama and Willett. But barring them then I hope Rory beats the yank twat

Matsuyama on great form this year also Willett. But I agree it will more than likely be 1 of 2

Sky will love having McIlroy and Spieth going out together.

As the final hole for Dechambeau proved fortunes can change very quickly.

Spieth and McIlroy off on their way then. Wind still up and quite cold, should suit Rory more. Still no-on moving through the pack (yet) so hard to look past these two now.

Going to see some high scoring I think.

Wind really playing its part.

Langer is going to be Spieth's biggest challager at this rate!

Danny Willet, Dustin Johnson and Jason Day moving into contention.

Rory having a mare.
