What a crap name, but ah well it is what our devolution will be given.

Looks like it is again starting to press ahead with plans to create a north economy base to rival the London base..........I suppose the idea is if they can make it stronger they get competition between both.

Looks like it goes from Carlisle across to Newcastle, around Leeds, Hull and down to Sheffield, then across to Manchester and Liverpool. !5 Million people and a lot of big cities.

but of course the question is can it work and will this cause just a bigger north/South divide than their hope of boosting the area?

I think the idea longer term is to get the big cities of the north Liverpool-Manchester-Leeds-Sheffield-Hull-Newcastle transport and economy boosted with big investment and allow them to actually work with each other to create a strong north economy to balance out the London-Midlands ones.

it is also the first steps I think of breaking up England into smaller groups and giving them groups more powers, sort've like giving the powers Scotland currently has to the North. Mostly stemmed as there is still the view England looks after London first and sod the rest.

in 5 years I expect there to maybe be some others with abit of devolution across the UK, this is first real step.

Is HS2 still a thing? If so, then this is genius.

We're too London centric so this is a good start.

Devolve more power to the cities and improve the (largely inadequate) transport within and between them.

Sounds sensible enough. About forty years late but we're getting there.
