Theo robinson scored twice now hopefully shut them few people up on twitter slagging him of on Saturday.

Aye some of our fans really showed themselves up after that game in general. It was a bad at the office but hardly the first or last time that will happen.

We’ve been absolutely outstanding, i am frustrated this isn’t a league game because we’ve been immense despite 8 changes.

Should be 6 at half time, two good goals, point blank save, hit the outside of the post, smashed the bar and Woz and Robinson should of finished in good positions.

Wigan have made 5 changes and I hope for their sake it’s their defence they’ve changed as they look terrible!

Interestingly we went 4-4-2 so maybe food for thought for Saturday as we’ve created chance after chance. Theo feeding of the Pope and Worrall who has been poor so far this season came on and looks very fired up.

Positive need to keep it up. Maybe worth give Rodney some time up off Pope.

Well we are going to win tonight for whatever that is worth. More of note is an injury to Amoo and Gibbons going off injured also in the last few minutes. One of many reasons I hate this tournament.

Great result but frustrating as 3-1 flattered Wigan and should of really hit 5 or 6 easily. They were awful.

Huge worry losing Gibbons again though, added to Mills injury and Smith isolating it leaves us with no right back for the weekend.

Surely we can get a Covid test for Smudge by then?

Had a decent crack at Sunderland tonight, with goal machine Jon Mellish getting two goals in a 5-3 defeat, but we're now out of this competition for another season with just a game against Aston Villa reserves to come. Not a great introduction for our 'on paper' first choice keeper Magnus Norman though.

Beat Wimbledon at home 2-0 with goals from Lee Angol and Conor Wilkinson, which means we now qualify with the Dons and need to avoid defeat in what is now effectively a dead rubber final game away at Charlton because as I said both ourselves and the Dons are through with 6 points each and can't be caught.

We looked alot better and alot more on it than we did on Saturday and was good value for the win - we made seven changes from Saturday and created the better chances throughout. Wimbledon missed a late sitter though, but rarely troubled us. Although they was already through.

Only our 9th clean sheet under Ross Embleton as well.

Lee Angol went off with another hamstring injury which is a pain, but it might mean that James Brophy will now play further forward.

We beat Plymouth 2-0 tonight, Reuben Reid getting both goals.

God knows what Plymouth's team was like, but ours had 9 changes from Saturday, including a shock return for Scott Flinders from his leg break in February. We were told he was out until at least the new year, so for him to play 45 mins tonight is outstanding news.

Beat Burton away 4-2 and we qualify with a game spare.

At least Bolton can concentrate on the league now Masi51....
Decent enough performance with mainly our second string against a near full strength Shrewsbury team
Two bad errors give them both goals....Tom White missed a penalty and shortly after was taken out and i think that will be him out long term.

9 changes from Saturday and an absolute defensive horror show - unbelievably bad. One player, Curran - whose dad is paying his wages - makes a mockery of ‘professional’ football. Not bothered by the result but this ‘jobs for the boys’ attitude really pisses me off - no matter how much daddy puts into the club. Must be embarrassing for the lad, too.

Wellens treats this competition with the contempt it deserves. Don’t think he’s ever won a game has he? We even lose to the under 23 teams that the proper teams always seem to put to the sword.

Glad this irritating distraction is over for another season early.

From a player we have vocally been trying to bin for ages now! Seemingly he played quite well so maybe he’ll have changed Wellens’ mind as we are struggling a bit in midfield currently. Not as bad as in defence where we are disastrous.

Didn't realise Coughlan's record at Mansfield was as bad as it is, I'm guessing the natives are getting twitchy?

Considering it was Lincoln Lite last night with 8 changes, a winger playing RB, a CM playing LB and our two full backs having to play CB with a combined age of 36, they didn't seem to give it a go.

YouTube highlights of our 7 goal thriller with Swindon are below.

A few good goals, including academy gem Harry Kite's.

Ben Seymour's penalty spot kick was the first player to score in the number 9 shirt for us since January 2010 - Adam Stansfield.

We used 2 15 year olds and 2 17 year olds last night, all academy products which is good to see..

Jack Carter impressed the most apparently, looked better then most of West Brom's kids despite being 5 years younger then quite a few of them.

It's always worthwhile getting those 15 year olds in some first team action - It'll benefit you massively later down the line should they be sold on in the next few years.

Trust me, we know ;) :£

we had 5 or six from the u18 team including 15 year old kian le fondre. Unfortunatly he never got to come on and be the youngest player in our History.
Good learning curve. Shrewsbury had 5 players booked. Got a feeling Evatt will remember that the next time we meet.

A game we managed to win and deserved to win turns into a disaster with 2 more injuries to david amoo and james Gibbons. This adds to manny oyeleke nathan Smith zak mills also being out meaning we have nobody to play at right back for the next few games.Just our normal port vale luck dont even think we are allowed to sign anyone as we have the maximum amount of players allowed in our squad.

Smith will be back for Salford for sure.

Manny is back training although would not be ideal to chuck him back in. Wonder is Whitehead could play there? Or for one game 3-5-2 with Woz and Monty.

How bad were Wigan though, stunned, they only made 5 changes (we made 8) but their defenders were absolutely terrible! If thats their usual back line or majority of it I would fancy them to be down here next season based on that.

On the Crawley official site that Lewis Young will take charge of the Crawley team for the game v Arsenal u23s on Tuesday.

Long time player for us not featured at all this season (injured?) but has been helping with the coaching side.

I think that shows either how much the club thinks of the competition (not much) or how much the club thinks of Lewis Young (in a good way)...also, a bit odd as Young lives quite away away but Yems lives close by.

Lost to Arsenal u23s 1-2. Our goal from new signing Max Watters. We only had 3 subs for this match...is that a thing now?

Our manager, John Yems, was actually in the commentary box for the game!

I watched the Christchurch v Dulwich Hamlet FA Cup game on the beeb...which had an interesting last five minutes or so.

Oh, thats us out with a game to play v Ipswich.

Edit to above post.

Seems we can still progress. If we beat Ipswich by two goals and Arsenal beat Gillingham we are through.

Damn.

Liverpool kids at Vale Park tonight. They are out and we are through barring a Vale loss and Wigan penalty victory over Tranmere in which case goal difference comes in!

Will make changes and not a bad time for this game with a few back from injury needing minutes like McKirdy, Manny and possibly Monty as well as Rodney back from Covid illness.

Liverpool got walloped by an awful Wigan side and Tranmere beat them so hopefully get the draw we need but ideally a win to claw back the few grand we lost at the weekend!
