Looks a good story. I know a few lads that went to watch it at the City Ground last night. I enjoyed 'The Damned United' film, and assume I'd enjoy this too.

I'm not sure people comparing it to Rotherham reaching the Champions League is accurate, though. For a start, money wasn't what it is in football today back then, whilst Forest are a city club with the potential to draw in huge crowds.

Brian Clough was close to taking over Birmingham City during the summer of '69... the fine margins of success and mediocrity.

Will the sequel be the story of Nottingham Forest's fall from back-to-back European Champions to a provincial midtable division 2 outfit under numerous 2 bob managers?

Better to have been good and mediocre than consistently shit I guess.

I am looking forward to seeing this. It is getting a lot of recognition as one of the greatest football films, if not the greatest. It really is a remarkable story, Forest or not, and I'm glad in our 150th year it's getting such recognition.

I see what you mean, but its not always that simple. Look how he did at Leeds. It has to be the right fit.

Ronnie Moore was great for us the first time round, and we expected him to take us back again. He came close, but he failed with what was a good League 1 squad with the likes of Le Fondre, Pope, Ellison, Nicky Law and Ian Sharps.

Nah, it's quite good.

We know exactly what we are, what we've been and what we'll ever be, it's quite comforting.

As someone who remembers those days, I will certainly be going to see this.
At the time, it was overlooked where Clough took Forest from and it appears to be, relatively recently, that people have realised just what an iincredible act it was.
Imagine taking a club like my own, or any Championship club to become double European Champions? That's what he did. An absolute magician who should have managed England but the old farts were too scared of him!

No! It was recognised at the time, but Clough and Taylor had made Forest into such a colossus that those voices tended to be drowned out. Among the more remarkable aspects was that many of the players were the same players he'd had in Division 2. The Russian media especially picked up on that and talked about how Clough had "psychologically re-armed" his players. Even more remarkable, Forest weren't the first provincial English football club he and Peter Taylor had taken from Division 2 to the first English league titles in their history and on into the European Cup. What is more important to remember and IS often overlooked, is that Clough won bugger all (unless you count a Mickey Mouse League Cup) without Peter Taylor. "Clough's" successes were in fact the partnership's successes. Clough & Taylor were the mother and father of all Dream Teams.

And Taylor was lost without Clough. They needed each other and it just clicked magnificently

I remember the start they made in Division 1 that first season and being far from convinced, and looking forward to the wheels coming off when they played one of the BIG teams away from home. Old Trafford in October(?) looked likely to be the scene of the accident and I waited for the scores to come through at The Shay as the game progressed. There was complete astonishment all around me as I relayed the goals going into the United net as Woodcock and John Robertson absolutely annihilated them. This right here, is the game where they truly arrived:
