Good luck to Bromley, it will get rid of a 3G pitch and Mr Potato Head.

I quite like being the underdogs going into this. Written off from all angles on here by some of the posts I’ve read, which is understandable given the post regarding no team in the last 10 years being promoted via the play offs having finished 5th or lower. However, hopefully we can maintain the momentum of being the form team coming into the play offs with 13 points taken from our last possible 15, and have a real crack at it.

These play offs are a complete free hit for us really as no one in the club expected us finishing in the top 7 this year when Rowe took over (I mean the initial goal was to keep us up!!), so hopefully that lower level of pressure that the players will be under compared to the likes of the players at Notts County and Stockport will work in our favour.

To be fair though for a lot of those 10 years the play offs only went as far as 5th place so those figures are skewed a bit, with the form you have hit to get in the play offs you should not be written off, although of course having to win 2 tough away games in order to get through to the final will be tough.

No doubt about it that it’s an extremely difficult task, especially with the return of home fans.

I must say though that I’m slightly more confident in having to play Notts (A) and then Torquay (A) to get there, as oppose the alternative if we’d finished 7th where we’d have to go to Hartlepool and then Stockport, as both of those sides have beat us comfortably at their place earlier on this season

Given the weather we've had over the last couple of days I wonder how much of a factor the heat may play. Even though the players are all full time (I think) very few will have experienced playing in mid to late June matches with early afternoon KOs and the possibility of ET and pens. So I dare say a few players may be at be near walking pace by the end of the match and it could become a case of survival of the fittest.

Although thinking about as this is the UK the last few days were probably the summer in its entirety and they'll be shovelling snow off the Ashton Gate pitch come the final.

Well you did us once (on pens) but you were badly let down by your admin staff.

Also the devil is in the detail, a few years back we (4th) lost to Eastleigh (7th) who then only lost to Salford on penalties in the SFs so who is to say someone can't make it all the way?

Without full capacity crowds in the Home advantage might be nullified a bit as well. I had Chesterfield as my Play Offs dark horses, although that was before Asante got injured.

I'd be suprised if more than 1 or 2 of the side that day are even still here such has the change under Rowe been. Maguire and Mandeville maybe off the top of my head.

We're still struggling for goals without Asante and if Danny Rowe is out we will be relying on a 39 year old on Saturday or Adi Yussef!

On Bromley - should they hypothetically win the playoffs, have they announced any details around prospective groundshares whilst they rip up the 4G? The playoff final is on the 20th June and the new EFL season kicks off 6 weeks after that, hardly any time to get things in place.

To add another spanner to the works for them, Cray Wanderers currently groundshare at Hayes Lane so would have to look elsewhere too (at least in the interim).

I think you've touched on something quite important there you know. Fitness will play a big part if this weather stays!

I agree with that. Fifth is looking an easier path than fourth would have been for us.

Fully expect it a tough game this weekend.

We were awful at home to Chesterfields. Hopefully we won't repeat that and as Jacob has mentioned we are under different management playing a very differently game.

Either way it's a huge shame that both sets of fans can't be there. While it's not really a derby the atmosphere is always good. I do think having home fans will provide an advantage but how much is really hard to say. We got a bit excited against Weymouth and went too hard in the first twenty minutes

I suppose Bromley would be ground sharing next year if they do go up, they really don't have long to sort it out.

They can't afford to go up etc.

Our game sold out now. Shame us and chessie won’t get any streaming revenue, I dare say it would make a fair bit more than the BT fee

Tickets went on sale today for our play-off semi for ST holders only. The rest of us plebs will have to pick up the crumbs on Friday IF there are any left. Approx 1500 expected, not sure how many ST holders we have but this would have been a sell out in normal circumstances.

And joy of joys, it's a midday kick off which (if fortunate enough to get tickets) will mean a very early start from the Garden of England around the scenic M25 and held up on the A303 as fuckwit grockles stop and take pictures of a pile of bricks discarded around the same time that BTF2 got a 'like' for his posts on this site.

The last two clubs James Alabi has been paid by who got to the play offs got promoted although he had barely any impact on it.
Oh FFS - just had to google which team Alabi is at at present... IF he goes up with Bromley half the teams in the NL will try to sign him for next season's play offs......

New word of the day. ‘Grockles’.

Went to St Ives last year, was that what they were calling us? Fuckers.

You're being a bit unkind about Stonehenge, for all we know it may have been built to host the 2021BC play-off final between Druids United and Beaker People Rovers.

I think the Devon people call visitors 'Grockles' and the Cornish call them 'Emmets' (Ants). Where as South Yorkshire people are called 'Cumfuts' by Lincolnshire coastal dwellers (Cumfut Beach, Cumfut Day, Cumfut Kids, etc, etc).

Youm's correct BlackHaddock.... us Deb'n people do indeed refer to all non-Devonians as 'Grockles' and those across the water in the (not so mighty) Kingdom of Kernow affectionately refer to invaders from across the Tamar as Emmets...

....and for those who can't be arsed to google it:

'Grockle' is an informal and often slightly derogatory term for a tourist. It was first popularized because of its use by the characters in the film The System (1964), which is set in the Devon resort of Torquay during the summer season.

....although I'd remove the word 'slightly'
