It’s down to Bolton or Barnsley to ensure that shower or shite don’t end up in the Championship again.

Absolutely astounded at that, Wednesday really could and should have had promotion tied up ages ago, they were on fire first half of the season. Funny old game etc. Obviously Barnsley going up (though their recent form suggests that may be a stretch) would add to the flavour, but bloody hell, this league has amazing twists and turns.

Had Sheff Wed played at home first, i do think they would have won that leg, and no doubt approached the away leg differently. Instead, they get spanked away from home and its pretty much all over! Joy of the playoffs. Will also see Darren Moore sacked.

In my opinion it's time the EFL looked at the National League playoff format and switched to that. It's a much fairer system and gives a genuine advantage to finishing higher in the table. You get more excitement with one-off games and the higher placed teams always play at home, until the Wembley final.

It would prevent this situation where we now have a pointless, hell-scape game on Thursday where Wednesday basically have no chance of progressing and have to play in front of an angry fan base. This is their reward after finishing on 96 points. Madness.

And I'm not just saying this because we would have been involved down in 8th

I agree with this. The conference set up is pretty exciting and fairer.

Agree, it also gives more teams something to play for towards the end of the season.

Harsh for Moore to go when they got 96points but last night was a shambles. Crazy how you can get that many points which would win promotion automatically every year in every division other than this year and lose your job - if he does.

Going into playoffs I thought Wednesday were heavy favourites and I didn’t really believe we could get through them but I think that result last night opens it up for us and Barnsley. I think we have a great opportunity now… we stuck 3 past Barnsley away in Jan and 5 past P’boro away last time we played them…I dont think either of us would have fancied playing Wednesday at Wembley and with Ipswich and Derby not in the playoffs this is a massive opportunity now.

Always fancied Posh in last night’s game. They’re very good at home and if they click they can destroy teams. Plus Wednesday getting 90 odd points only to miss out on promotion will always be tough to overcome.

Fancy Bolton to sneak past Barnsley as they’ve been on excellent form of late.

Wednesday will have the highest budget by a mile. The more big budgets we can get rid of the better. Bolton are next on the list.
Dont think Sheff Wed will be bankrolled next season unless bought out
We have good owners who wont put the business into serious debt.....So we have to cut our cloth accordingly

Though we have signed a 7 figure fee for the stadium naming rights
About to name a household shop as our shirt sponsor for the next five years
Add 2 pink concerts in May. Plus the hotel and business conference i reckon our cloth may be xxl next season

Sheffield Wednesday losing 4-0 rings a bell, but I can’t quite place my finger on it…

Not sure we’ll have Harry Kane next time, mind.

I'd be happy with Peterborough coming up, they never seem to build on their L1 squad and seemingly just expect them to come up and do enough. It's usually a bottom three spot spoken for, especially with Son of Bacon Face in charge.

Whether Bolton go up or not they have got a major headache trying to replace Trafford next season. Already shown the value of a quality keeper. Barnsley just look a bit crisper in attack overall.

We really haven’t got going. We look nervous. Barnsley the better side. Not sure why we are trying to be so direct… it’s not how we usually play. We need to be more patient in possession and move them around. They are managing to create overloads all over the pitch.

Why?
It’s not like we’ll even be troubling even mid table, we’re trying re-sign Benning FFS.
I love having the big clubs down here, a full house, a chance of an upset.
Owls , derby, Bolton , all been good games this year, I’d rather that than the alternative.

Agreed, either Peterborough or Barnsley going up will suit me (even though we beat both at home, and Barnsley away too..)

Barnsley deserve that. Been in control most of the game. Great hit by Cadden.

Bolton need to wake up, need find some tempo.

Not sure how we are level but we are. We tend to finish games strongly and I think we need a lead going away to them to stand a chance of going through. Come on!!

Trafford almost single-handedly keeping you in it. Another great bit of keeping when Barnsley looked set to score again.

Yeah he’s an incredible gk. I thought the Plymouth gk was the best in the division but Trafford has overtaken him stats wise now. He’s apparently going to be city’s number 2/ cup gk next season.

On the balance of play Barnsley the better team so a draw is a decent result for us. Will be tough to go there and win again though. We’ll need to be much better next week

I would very confidently predict he’ll play for England at some point. His anticipation and the way he gets into position is incredible, certainly wish our keepers could do a fraction of that.

Overall all to play for but the way that game went I think Barnsley the speed they can move the ball is a bit of a matchup nightmare for Bolton. Have to favour Barnsley now.

If we just played a bit more patient and move them from side to side we’d have caused them a lot more problems. We were starting to do it in the last 20 mins. Didn’t do it enough though.

Agree on that; Peterborough would be my choice to go, crap away end and they are the only side to give us a good wellying both times.

It's a fair point. We're nowhere near that level at the moment. I just feel like it should be a level playing field, which would make it more exciting in my book. You're right about having the big crowds down here, it does turn each game into a proper sporting event rather than a friendly.

I don't understand how Peterborough do it. Got to be one of the smaller clubs in L1 but always seem to be a really good attacking side.

I hope Wednesday can come back from the death but its very unlikely, that means there will be at least 2 clubs with bigger home gates than us. If Bolton miss out then I'm sure they'll be one of the higher budgets. Our owners reckon they're going to up our budget but we'll have to wait and see.

I didn't think Wednesday were 4-0 bad last night. They were second best but the first and second goals were huge slices of luck for Posh.

Didn't catch all of Bolton vs Barnsley but Barnsley seemed to edge that parts that I saw.
