The new season starts in less than a week, you know the drill. If you don't, here's a run-down of the game.
Every round (38 in total) twenty-six scenarios (A-Z) will be posted. Each scenario is worth a number of points that should reflect the probability of it happening. At the end of the round points are awarded for each chosen scenario that came true.
As a general rule, scenarios will be posted 5-7 days before the first fixture of the round kicks off. All you have to do is pick SIX of them. Enter by posting your selections in the relevant thread. The official deadline for each round is when the first fixture kicks off but in most weeks (where there is an early game), entries will be accepted up until the bulk of the fixtures kick off (usually 3pm) providing scenarios influenced by the early game(s) are not chosen.
[Note: missing three consecutive rounds will result in your removal from the competition.]
Scenario Types
True/False - most weeks there will be 25 statements with points ranging from 4 to 16 (usually as four 4s, five 6s, five 8s, five 10s, five 12s and a 16). For each true scenario slected, the corresponding number of points are awarded. For each false scenario selected, no points are scored.
Match prediction - every week scenario 'Z' will ask you to predict the score of either a pre-selected game or a game of your choice. A correct prediction is worth 20 points, a correct outcome is worth 10 points and an incorrect prediction is worth 0 points.
Choice - some weeks a scenario will require you to make a choice. Points vary and these scenarios can even deduct points. Example: Pick two defenders. Score 8 points for a clean sheet, 12 points for each goal scored and -2 points for each goal conceded.
Bonus - Some true/false scenarios will offer 'bonus' points if extra criteria is fulfilled. Example: 8pts - Swansea win a third straight game for the first time this season (+6pts if they keep a third straight clean sheet).
Additional Scoring
In Week 3, on top of your usual six selections, you will be given the opportunity to predict who will finish 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 18th, 19th and 20th. At the end of the season, a maximum of 90 points are available from these predictions.
- 10pts for each correct top three prediction
- 15pts for each correct bottom three prediction
- 5pts for predicting all three of the teams finishing 1st to 3rd (in any order)
- 10pts for predicting all three of the relegated teams (in any order)
TPLG Cup
A knock-out tournament will be held in the second half of the season. All those participating in the main league are automatically entered into the cup and are not required to do anything different - selections count for both the league and cup. Anyone not in the league can still enter the cup as a wild-card if they wish. Interest must be registered before Week 19's deadline to enter the draw and after the draw is made, they'll be able to see which weeks they need to pick scenarios for.
At the end of Week 19, the draw will be made with the league's top 16 seeded. Depending on numbers, some players might receive first round byes. Example: last season there were 39 competitiors (34 in the league plus 5 wild-cards), the wild-cards and bottom 9 featured in the first round with the winners joining the top 25 in round 2.
In the event of draws, replays are played the following week. If players are still tied after the replay, alongside their next selections they must predict the time of the first goal to act as a tie-breaker should they draw the second replay. [Note: in the final there will only be one replay before the tie-breaker is used]
