It's going to be redonk. It feels like 2pts per game isn't going to be enough to win you the league, which is just stupid. Very little room for error.
I think not replacing Rusk earlier is going to prove costly for us.

The view of the table this time last year is crazy. 2nd place in about 34 points I think it was. It’s just mental this year

Torquay were on the same points as you are now after 20 games but about one million points clear (although everyone else has games in hand cos of Covid). It’s a much harder league - we’re a miles better team than we were last season IMO but our record is only a bit better at this stage.

All currently points towards it being very close at the end of the season. Trying to recall the last time that happened? The Fleetwood/Wrexham, Mansfield/Kiddy eras?

Barnet and Bristol Rovers was tight too, I think?

Sutton/Torquay was pretty tight for the most part last season, to be fair. Barrow/Notts/Harrogate would’ve been extremely close the year it got cut short as well.

Table:

1. Chesterfield - P20 - 43 pts
2. Halifax - P21 - 41 pts
3. Wrexham - P22 - 39 pts
4. Boreham Wood - P19 - 39 pts
5. Dagenham - P22 - 38 pts
6. Notts - P20 - 38 pts
7. Bromley - P21 - 38 pts
8. Stockport - P20 - 36 pts
9. Solihull - P21 - 36 pts
10. Grimsby - P20 - 33 pts

PPG:

1. Chesterfield 2.15
2. Boreham Wood 2.05
3. Halifax 1.95
4. Notts 1.90
5. Bromley 1.81
6. Stockport 1.80
7. Wrexham 1.77
8. Dagenham 1.73
9. Solihull 1.71
10. Grimsby 1.65

Next weekend’s games:

Dover vs Notts
Torquay vs Dagenham
Halifax vs Eastleigh
Bromley vs Solihull

Relentless stuff tbf. Grimsby’s 1.65 PPG would ordinarily have you comfortably in the play-offs over a full season.

Thanks. Was going to update this later. Will update the front post in a bit.

I said at the start of the year it'd be a quality season. We all want to go up but you have to enjoy the chase, this is an enjoyable season mixing it with some proper clubs. League Two really isn't that exciting. The top teams up here are getting great gates, we wouldn't be getting them as good if we all thought we were going to finish mid table League Two. People like watching winning teams.

I don't think we'll win the league, as Who Needs Mourinho says, Rusk will cost us. But we'd be a match for anyone in the play-offs but everyone else will think the same.

Only thing that pisses me off is shit Covid postponements. But that's happening in all the divisions, seemed to actually have effected the FL more over Christmas than this level.

And praying it doesn't go behind closed doors again. What a fucking mood killer that is. Not proper football at all.

I think at one point towards the end of that season Barnet were top by a point and Bristol Rovers and ourselves were both only 1 point behind them.
Then we only drew at home to Gateshead which put us 3 behind with a massively inferior goal difference ending any realistic hope of catching Barnet.

When Barnet won the league that year the guy I was most pleased for was their steward who went through the traumatic experience of being viciously attacked by an inflatable shark and thinking he was going to die.
Hopefully winning the league should have helped aid his recovery.

That Barnet side was horribly marvellous
Fixed it for you. A beautiful sight to see Akinde in full flow before winning an always justified penalty. And yes, we finished 1 point ahead of Bristol Rovers.

Maybe Curtis Weston will win his 2nd National League Champions medal this season?

Still a key man at our place Weston is. Rowe absolutely loves him. He barely crosses the half way line, his role these days is scrapping for every ball in the middle of the pitch and plugging the gaps the wing backs leave as they bomb on.

He’s 35 now, but easily one of our fittest players which is testament to him really. He still can’t pass a ball mind but we let him off

A bit different from 14/15 when he scored 10 goals in our league campaign!
Curtis has always been a good pro and team player, he’ll never let you down.

Prior to James rowe's tenure, Curtis was box to box and he wasn't exactly a fan favourite. Always worked hard but his passing and general attacking wasn't great. Rowe has converted him into a holding midfielder because he is the messiah. Water into wine.

Mainly Barnet. He scored a few pens here (15, I think) but hardly won any himself - one at your place springs to mind but that's about it.

Spot on. I really thought Weston was dreadful before Rowe came in, but I’ve been proven wrong and he’s now one of the first names on the team sheet.

He did similar with Hayden Hollis who was pretty much regarded as not good enough but soon became absolutely colossal for us at the back, prime Maldini type performances once Rowe got into him.

With Denton on his way back next month, if he isn’t a National League Ibra I’ll be surprised.

Ahhh Virgil Van Hollis. Seems like it was all just a dream after him being out injured for so long. I think had him and Asante stayed fit going into the play offs we’d have had a very good chance with the form they were both in.

Speaking of which, Hollis surely can’t be too far off now!!??

Must admit Rowe has been a bit elusive when it comes to who is coming back and when. He did say we would have a couple back for our next league game but I’m not excepting one of them to be Hollis. I think from memory but I could be wrong that he’s back some time in March?

Yeah you’re probably right, I think Carline and Denton are also back March time

Not sure, when did it happen last year?
Last 4 weeks of the season. But then again at no point last season were we as comfortably inside the play off places as we are now.

Said it before something feels different this season. We might not get the title but are more than good enough to get in the play offs

In all fairness and I put this on our forum, you are the team to worry about this season. It's all good and well saying Wrexham, Stockport and Notts County have got ££ to spend in January, fact is you ,us and the boredom are sat up there Everyone knows Wrexham are only good for mid table, they'll probably be in the MLS next year anyway.
