For what it’s worth, I don’t think we’ll win the league. Chesterfield look the team to beat. Only lost 1 game despite a massive injury crisis. They are the favourites imo. I reckon the top 3 in no particular order will be Chesterfield, Wrexham, and Stockport come the end of the season.

The remaining 4 slots could be anyones. For what it’s worth, I’d be disappointed if we didn’t make the playoffs from here. We look more than good enough to compete with the big boys.

Brother BT2F, it's really not that hard to see why people reckon the Shaymen will not last the distance now is it? It takes more than money to go up but to state the obvious having a healthy playing budget is helpful. Stockport and Wrexham (plus probably Chesterfield and a couple of the smaller sides like Bwood) can easily sign a couple of players if they think one or two of their players need upgrading. Can Halifax do the same? And can they hold on to the better players? Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think so.

Think Wild has a more than decent record when having to replace players.
And without having loads of money.

I can correct you on both counts buddy. Only today, Wild has again come out and stated NOBODY is leaving and he has the chairman's backing to add to the existing squad. The chairman knows what he has in Wild and what a chance we have this time. :ds:

FFS.... 6 months have passed since you scraped your way passed us in that play-off final and you're still rubbing salt in very deep wounds.... I f**king hate Hartlepool and their fans (well, except for those on here, there a decent bunch - that was until they f**cked off from here and starting posting about their fancy dan football in the league 2 forum... ... it's as if they think they are better than us).

I just thought I'd cheer you up by informing you I still watch the Matt Buse penalty at least 3 times a day.

We’re 2.44 since Challinor took over though admittedly had an easy run of fixtures.

Obviously think we have got a decent chance to win it but would like us to be top by the end of Feb and 5 or 6 points clear by the end of March to get ready for our ultra-tough run in. I have Wrexham marked as the biggest danger as they keep on managing to win games where they haven't performed at all well and have god knows how many home games left to play.

I've got Notts County as a big danger.

The truth is you can make a case for all the top 7 to win the league. Anyone not including Bromley, Boreham Wood and Halifax in that is being very bold and slightly foolish.

I think Solihull, Grimsby and Dagenham will try and pick up any scraps for a play off place but they're going to need one of the current top 7 to really go cold IMO.

Top 7 looks solid from here but wouldn't discount Solihull Motors just yet, they can give anyone a match.

Also if Alan Woodman leaves Bromley then they will be gone.

Stockport certainly in the driving seat.As for ourselves we are 6th even though we haven’t managed to play well for 90 minutes much this season. If we don't strengthen we will probably end up 4th or 5th and then have the lottery of the play offs.
However we all expect 3 or 4 quality signings this week .If this happens and they all succeed we may give you a run for your money (along with 2 or 3 other teams).
Remember you still have to come to us plus we still have to play 8 of the present bottom 10 at home so plenty to play for

Our season comes down to March probably. We play loads of games due to the postponements, including Chesterfield twice, hosting Boreham Wood and going to Stockport, Dagenham and Solihull. Halifax come here just at the end of Feb as well. If we come through that relatively unscathed then we have a really kind looking final eight games or so.

We’re ticking along nicely, though. Much is rightly being made of Stockport’s form under Challinor, but ours is pretty much the same over ten games from a much harder run of fixtures. It’s just less obvious because it’s stretched over about four months.

It depends a bit on if we can hold onto our key players in Jan/how they are replaced, but I’m growing increasingly confident we can go close. I just have this nagging feeling we’ll fall *just* short.

However, I said at the start of the season when the big money was being thrown that a top three finish would be a good result, and I stand by that. We would hopefully beat some tinpotter at home, then a big, carpet-like surface at Wembley would probably suit us.

This is completely couched against the fact we have Maidenhead away as our last game.

I think you might be right. We've quietly really strengthened the squad this window, better keeper, right wing back and Zak Brunt as an attacking midfield option with maybe more to come in. Defence looks settled, midfield dynamic and we're now scoring more freely.
If we win on Tuesday we'll be at 2pts per game. I've seen us throw points away but not seen us outplayed and little bits of luck keep dropping our way which seems to happen in good seasons.
I think you lot are going take some stopping, Challinor is as near as you get to a banker at this level of management and think there's three or four who can win it.
Most aren't looking at us as likely champions but Burchnall now has a 50% with ratio over a decent period and has improved us from last season.

Don't count us out just yet, hitting some good form recently and we all know that Gary Johnson has his eyes set on that 7th spot.

Playing Solihull, Wrexham and Boreham Wood within our next 5 games, how many points we get from those though will determine whether i delete this post or not! :animatedf:

Notts definitely starting to find top gear along with Stockport. We’ve gone from 4/6 to 3/1 to win the league which tells you everything you need to know about our recent form.

Hardly. We had an illness go through the squad ruling out our keeper, top scorer, plus others playing through the illness and our two first choice midfielders were injured/went off injured.

If lacking squad depth is feeling the pressure then fair enough. That will be our downfall if anything. Wild keeps saying he’s trying to bring players in but one has gone elsewhere and he’s hopeful on one in time for Tuesday with more to follow.

Ugh, that’s the thing with this season, feels relentless. Any 3/4 game disappointing run could leave you off the pace, with 90+ points looking like it could be needed to win it. That’s only having one auto place for you.

Think the biggest danger will be yourselves, keep your bottle and you can do it.

If there is something on for us come the end of the season either the title or a place in the play offs we have maidenhead away last game so hopefully we won't get Devonshired.

Not sure it’s been much harder more like slightly. We’ve played a lot of the same teams and You’ve played Boreham Wood whereas we played Bromley which is basically the same.

Only one that stands out from yours in comparison is Wrexham.

I think there's several clubs overtaken us in the favouritism charts at the moment to be honest.
