Think Plymouth win their next two then that confirms their promotion before they come to us. My guess is we’ll likely play at least a couple of lads from our academy in that one as been waiting for that opportunity to give them a go so you’d expect Plymouth to win the title then.
If we are safe I would prefer we went full pelt at Argyle and changed for Charlton to keep the integrity etc, that said we've lost three key players at the weekend (sadly possibly the last time we see Wilson and Wozza (Woz will hurt if we don't get to say goodbye)) so may not have as much choice anyway.

I think if its against someone with something riding on it you should go strongest XI.

I really do hope thats the case. The last thing my ticker could take right now is coming to your place needing a result fpr promotion. Hoping its just a nice relaxing promotion celebration with the possibility of a championship

Yeah get the promotion sorted and then the title is just a nice added extra if you get it. For what it’s worth Rovers looked like they were winding down on Saturday and got a few fixtures left to cram in so would back you in that one. To be honest now we are safe there’ll be a pretty relaxed atmosphere in the home support so if any Plymouth fans have got tickets for the home end should be alright from that perspective. Hope you do it anyway, been the best team since the season kicked off and can’t imagine it would go wrong now.

Wednesday are a funny one, most fallen giants that end up here bounce back stronger and don't return, Leicester, Sheff United, Wolves, Forest, Leeds for example but they've bounced back and forth down here three times I think now since 2003? for the size of that club they just seem to struggle to really sustain pushing on and making sure they don't go through this cycle.

Mismanagement from the top. It’s the reason we got relegated and 23 years later. We’ve had one good owner in Milan Mandaric but he just didn’t have the money to get us to that next level. I’m confident if he had Chansiri’s money, we’d have been back in the Premiership by now.

Milan could be a bit mad (he once held back the players' salaries after a poor performance) but he genuinely loved football and really wanted his club to succeed. He was very popular with us too. Fun times.

Huge night at the top of the table. Plymouth and Ipswich have the chance to all-but seal promotion. Bolton can also almost confirm a playoff berth. I'm jealous.

Plymouth and Bolton look bankers on paper but this stage of the season throws out some weird results.

Bit of a dead rubber for us tonight realistically, which is bloody annoying because the original fixture that Ipswich bottled wasn't. We've done well against top 6 sides at Oakwell (Bolton aside, thanks to a joke red card/penalty after 10 mins), but Ipswich look unstoppable, always manage to shithouse a result here and are going to be backed by a frankly ridiculous 5,000 supporters. I can only hope the occasion gets to their players and they wilt under the pressure, but I can't see it.

Top two sorted, well done to Plymouth and Ipswich.

Wednesday will be kicking themselves. Still can't believe they fucked it up in that easier period.

Congrats to Plymouth and Ipswich. Especially, Argyle though. Great achievement with that budget. Now make sure you seal the title next week.

Absolute cloud 9! Back next season where the city belongs. What an achievement by the club from top to bottom. Elated and running out of superlatives for how proud I am of my club. They kept writing us off week in week out. No superstars, no big names just a smart philosophy and an utterly cracking bunch of lads.

Congratulations also to Ipswich whose rise back up is just starting and the football they’re playing the final third of the season is just incredible. They’ll do well next year I should imagine.

I’m off to vale park next weekend, I hope we win the title but I really don’t care that much, we’re playing championship football next season!

Well done both Plymouth and Ipswich.

Ipswich by far the best side we’ve played and Argyle have been relentless in keeping the pace so both deserve huge credit, looking forward to hosting the Pilgrims next week.

Yes, well done to both. Particularly Plymouth. Ipswich should have easily got promoted...I think I could have managed them to promotion but Plymouth is a club that probably hasn't got the biggest budget in the league or the biggest crowds but has achieved it by building year on year and has engaged their fan base. ...a real case study in how to get promoted without buying it.

Congratulations to both - deserved two promoted teams. Who goes with them is anyone’s guess. Wednesday perhaps hitting form again now so justice might prevail.

Come on Port Vale!!

In all seriousness, I'm just glad we're promoted. Plymouth have been more consistent than us, so fair play to them if they win it.

Our recent record v Argyle;

P8
W7
D1
L0

GF18
GA5

Confident?

We’ve had a good run against Argyle, we’ve managed to beat them with 10 men a couple of times and had that bizarre incident where we went 1-0 up fairly early and as Vincent walked back for the restart their forward just lamped him and got sent off!

Different test this time and let’s not forget we have that regular final day beach performance in us where we get panned 5-0! Cambridge, Walsall, Swindon (plus a 6-0) come to mind!

Hoping with 12000 plus potentially there we put in a performance though for the 2/3 of ground willing us on, especially with season ticket early bird up that day.

Looking like a good crowd. Lorne Street and Railway Stand sold out, only 30 tickets left in the paddock and a fair few in the Bycars. Surprised a few more aren't going in the Bycars with it being the last game before the switch to the Hamil next season. Suppose it shows why it's the right move.

Hopefully we put on a good performance for our own pride. Guessing we'll lose. If we do it will be the first time in my lifetime a team has lifted the title trophy at Vale Park. Brighton had already won the league in 02, lifted the trophy the week before. I'd probably stick around to watch the presentation.

So glad the pressure is off us now, we can just enjoy the day.

As days go it doesn’t get much better than that. Sunny, 6-0 win to get promoted and a night out in town with the whole squad. After putting up with Evans, McCarthy, Lambert and Cook it’s been a long time coming.
Congrats to Plymouth, well deserved!

3rd favourites to gain promotion from the Championship next season

#Hype :fish: Means nothing, of course.
Spinning it once again.......No teams that may be in the play offs this season then the relegated teams from the premier league.........Absolute bollocks that market

Why would you take 7/2 to be promoted when it will be nearer 10s in a fortnight

I completely agree. I think it's a worthless market tbf - I don't understand why anyone would bet on any of those teams at those prices at the start of May.

As someone who works in the industry (albeit admittedly in horses more than football odds), I’d like you to lay me 10s on promotion please. Not a chance.

11/2 is the biggest it’ll be even if Everton drop who would be short priced favs in that market. 10/1 is stupidly large.

Maybe on the 10s is a tad high, but industry has opened that market at 7/2 not a chance it will be that low
Just saying the market at the moment is a joke with half the teams not available to lay.
Dont be so defensive it is not a pop at Ipswich but the current odds.

On my defence i said nearer 10s which could be 8s 17/2 and not the 7/2 currently available
You work in the industry so you are more likely to be right than me.......Return in a month will be interesting

For what it’s worth I didn’t actually read it as an attack on Ipswich. Just that 10/1 as a price was too high. Similar to as if you’d have said Swansea would drift to 16s. Both teams are bound to drift out a tad (especially if it’s Everton who go down) but not to the extent or 7/2 to 10/1. Even if we sold Chaplin, Broadhead and Davis and McKenna left, we wouldn’t be 10/1 pokes.

As I said, I’m more horses than football but I’d personally expect 5/1 ish in most places this time next month.
