I think the fact we didn’t concede late on at Barrow will really shift the mentality. You physically saw the players start to capitulate mentally the second we got the goal and let’s be honest, we were lucky we didn’t. The run in looks tough, but I imagine some of those teams will start to have nothing to play for, which must be tough on the motivation levels given there’s no fans. I look at Bradford, Oldham and Vale in particular, potentially Cambridge last day also if they’re up by then.

Might be a must win for us but if we are safe by then we will likely give you a 5-0 win... it’s our dead rubber speciality throwing in a really can’t be arsed performance.

Barnet beat us to stay up 1-0 and our assistant went ballistic and wanted them in over the summer it was that lazy! Then we had the 6-0 and 5-0 against Swindon, 5-0 v Cambridge although we put a few kids out that day, 5-0 against Walsall, probably a couple more. If you need something and we don’t we will probably be on Cleethorpes Beach for the 90.

some of you may know of a certain Lord Football, well Copa90 asked Southend fans for some info to do a film with a fan about the neglect and subsequent plummet we have suffered over the past few years, this is the result and certainly sums up my feelings and I'd say the feelings of all Southend fans currently.

I hope for your sake that Ron Martin finally does just go at somepoint, having watched my team in 2017 suffer in very similar circumstances I can relate to that all too well.

If you end up in the National League, you don't want Ron Martin there - that league is unforgiving and will swallow you up quickly like it has done to Torquay, Chester, Halifax, Boston, Stockport, York, Hereford, Darlington and to a lesser extent Wrexham if you try and fight it with financial difficulties.

Somepoint is a long way off, we'll be a non-league team with him and I fully expect a York scenario for us rather than a Bristol Rovers or Orient one, we go down a shambles, we will remain a shambles there. I said in the non-league forum, imagine Ron's horror when he gets to the National League AGM and they want full proof of funding to get through the season and they'll want it there and then not when he can get round to it. He'll be very sorry he left the comfort of the 'we don't give a shit how you run a football club' EFL.

The issue for us is Ron's end game of his 3 sided wonder stadia and housing project matters not one ounce as to where Southend United are in the pyramid. In fact the lower we go the better it is for him, he can build the stadium even cheaper, smaller, maybe two stands! In the last 12 months he has finally got in touching distance of getting a spade in the ground and work started.
Even if we go to the wall he still owns all the land and gets his pension from the housing plans. Until he achieves this he goes nowhere. It's not that he won't sell, he just has very unreasonable demands to selling, he wants to keep control of all the land and sell the club for multi-millions.
I basically think he's the new Kassam and he will go when the stadium is built but like Kassam will only be willing to sell if he keeps the ground and land around it and continue to rake in money through charges to the club. Like Oxford we'll be looking for a new stadium site soon after building a new one.

Been there and done that as a Tranmere fan. Feel your pain.
As long as there are fans, there will be a football club. Hang on in there!

Funny one Ron Martin.. it has gone tits up, the club is a shambles top to bottom right now and has been for a few years. I'm not quite hounding him out just yet as in the video when LF mentions about the previous 'good times' every single one of them other than the Benjamin goal was under Ron's tenure at the club there's no doubt we've had some of our best years under him.
He probably should move on but it won't happen, he won't sell. Well, he actually might do but not for anywhere near a price someone would be willing to pay.

Quite funny that in a season where we only had 1 penalty up until Scunthorpe, having had several clear penalties not given, the one we finally do get leads to our player getting a 2 match ban. Magnificent.

I cannot stand Dieng, nor any of those who have been here throughout the rot aside from Elvis, so not bothered by losing him.

As for non-league. It's going to be bleak. If we could expect we'd win some games again and score some goals I'd embrace it. However I fear we'll be bottom half dwellers at best for a little while. I think we got a decent management team but the club above that is a shambles and that will continue to handicap Molesley.

Thanks for that. I suspect the owner will start reading the letter and when he realises what it is will bin it. Best of luck.

It's the hope that kills you. Carlisle and Morecambe next over Easter. Mansfield above is safe

Aye think that almost certainly is us safe now barring something really strange happening.

Terrific result for Southend today. Think they have Colchester towards the end of the season. That looks like it could be huge. Don’t think Walsall are out of it either, best you can say is with the two draws they haven’t given up any ground but against the two bottom teams should really have been aiming for more.

Not out of it yet but almost. Three huge wins at the right time and just need probably another couple of points to be sure.

Southend need three wins out of 8 just to catch us so just need to keep the points ticking over and see it out.

If we play how we have been now the injuries are clearing up hopefully we can be comfortably mid table come May.

Think Grimsby needed that today. A draw isn’t a bad result in isolation but it’s not enough in their position. Massive win for Southend with both Barrow and Colchester losing. I think it’s two from those four - everyone above Colchester will be fine.

Certainly 2 from 4, Barrow play Colchester soon too.

We have Salford next another side in bad form and given our record against sides in bad form, will be another dull game that we should've won but didn't.

I’m trying to take a more positive light on today being that given who Barrow and Colchester were playing I expected them both to win or at worst one win and one draw so I was hoping that we could win just to stay the same points behind, yet despite another awful game at Blundell Park and only a draw we actually gained a point on both.
Massively clutching at straws I know but it’s all I’ve got right now.

Another positive is that we looked like we had gone back 2 months, with constantly giving the ball away and stupid free kicks yet we didn't lose and made ground on both of them.

Still like you say 1 point isn't enough anymore, but at least we don't have a game Tuesday as the players looked tired today as well.

We've also got Southend, and I think they have each other. A bit of a mini league between the three of us.

When we lose at Bolton on Friday, it will be one win in the past 23 games for us - literally one win in half a season. How we're not already adrift at the bottom is ridiculous.

We've only won one away game all season and have Bolton, Oldham, Cheltenham and Tranmere to come. Oldham looks like a potentially winnable game until you factor in the embarrassing away record.

So for us it all comes down to our home games, all of which should be completely winnable with three six-pointers thrown in there: Barrow, Walsall, Southend and Salford. If Southend are within touching distance when we play them then it will be A) the biggest Essex derby of all-time, and B) the game to relegate us if we lose, knowing we then finish the season with games against Cheltenham, Salford and Tranmere.

What's the general mood amongst the Colchester fans? In your position I'd be panicking massively but equally in our position I still think we've left too much to do given we can only win if it's 1-0.

Next weekend will be interesting. We play a day after everyone else. Unsure if that helps or hinders.

I think panicking is probably fair (long time no see, by the way!). Back at Christmas I was expecting us to slide closer to the drop than the play-offs as the performances never justified the league positioning, but I'm not sure I'd have thought we'd drop quite so close to the edge. The sense of panic has definitely grown significantly since mid-February though as the team seem to look worse with every passing week - check out the #colu hashtag on Twitter to see the lack of any positive thought.

Funnily enough, I've been telling my dad for months that we're going to end up in the relegation fight and he's laughed me off. But whilst today he messaged me to say that it's the first time he actually thinks we are going to go down, I do still think we'll be ok and scrape by. Like you say, both Southend and Grimsby seem to keep spurning their opportunities and, although you won today, it doesn't feel as though you've got a proper run in you. Think it will ultimately come down to the game at our place - if we can get a result I think you'd had too much ground to make up.

It moves to Easter weekend now. We're playing Saturday and Tuesday for some reason. I think we'll draw vs Carlisle and Morecambe. Hopefully othets don't eztend the gap. 4 points with 6 to go? Okay, 7 points? Fuck.

think we're ok now - yet to play grimsby mansfield barrow, a few dead rubbers with carlisle, bradford and harrogate and trickier games on paper with exter and morecambe.

there'll be plenty of teams taking points of each other down the bottom which should see us safe even if we fuck up the rest of the season.
