Think we're safe now, we have totally turned a corner under wellens, still only 5 games into his tenure but we look a completely different team, obviously we're still beatable but I wouldn't want to play us in the next few games.
Really hope Barrow stay up, cracking away day and proper club but sadly, looking at their run in, unless Brown can do something, I think they'll drop.
Stevenage have the easiest set of fixtures, they get so lucky every year i swear, would much prefer them to drop.
Can't help but feel it's a 3 horse race now for that final spot.

I know I said it in the match day thread last night but I thought you were great in the first half. Harrogate were one dimensional and turgid and Orient played them off the park. You played the football that we saw under Wellens when he got us promoted. Quick, crisp accurate attacking football, very impressive. And a dangerous long throw in Ogie. It's very early days so in danger of hyperbole here but I fancy Wellens to get Orient at the right end of the table next season.

Think it's just between Oldham and Stevenage now. Oldham don't look like picking up the 7 points needed to catch Barrow's current total any time soon while Barrow still look capable of picking up points here and there.

OIdham play an extra game before the two teams meet but it's likely not much will have changed given the teams they're playing. It will represent Oldham's biggest chance this season to save themselves, whereas if Stevenage are still ahead on points and then win that game then Oldham may well be done for.

Yeah it's very early days, but the signs are really promising under Wellens, good football and the players clearly buy into him.

We've got the nucleus of a strong squad, but a lot of dead weight and a few key areas need addressing.

If we have a good summer I see no reason why we won't be in the mix for top-7.

Buttttt, early days still!

Completely co-sign re Stevenage. It still rankles with me how they got away with it due to Macclesfields sad demise. They should have gone that season. Hopefully it catches up with them this time though Barrow and their inability to find a proper manager since Evatt is giving cause for concern.

Oldham losing their game in hand last night is really beneficial for us.

I had it in my head that we needed 4 or 5 more points to be all but safe. Now I’m thinking one more win will possibly do. That won’t come on Saturday against Bristol Rovers, I accept that, they’ll be way too good, but we have plenty more opportunities over the coming weeks.

A month ago to this day we sacked Millen as we were heading for certain relegation, getting humped every week and were in my opinion at that time the worst team in the league. That pasting we got from Swindon was the best thing that happened to us this season, what a blessing in disguise it was. I’d honestly by Harry McKirdy a pint for his key role in that battering.

Since then, what Paul Simpson has done is nothing short of miraculous. It’s one of the greatest managerial performances I’ve seen since watching this club. To literally over night turn that shower of absolute utter shit into a team that can pick up 15 points from a possible 18. Unbelievable. I hope it continues and we don’t drop off a cliff, but hopefully the kind of manager Simpson is he won’t allow that.

We’re not safe yet. But we are getting close to being all but safe if not mathematically. We were 100% down under Millen. What a celebration it will be if we actually pull this off. I may even change my username in honour of the great man (Simmo not Millen).

I think Barrow are well in the mire too, looked at their fixtures earlier...nine games remaining, six of which are against teams in the top ten...one win since early February, against Scunthorpe, could go to the wire for them.

true - on paper they look hard, although we have already beaten Swindon and Northampton

Barrow probably will have just enough about them to get out of it, though they were in a similar position last season also.

You’ll need to be careful as rattling along at a point a game won’t save you forever

Quite - I think we've got 66 points from the last 69 league games or something around that figure, so 44 across a season. We'll drop sooner or later if that doesn't improve. Would have relegated us in five of the last ten seasons or something like that (worked it out a few days ago, but can't remember exactly). Doubt it will be this season now though.

Yous reckon you're safe? We are far from it yet and strangely a win or draw in our game in hand and there's only a point between us either way.

and being an ex-Southend boss i'm sure Brown wouldn't mind helping send Colchester down too....

I dont know about that, we struggled to beat Colchester at home recently.
I think it might be a draw, although we never seem to do well at Carlisle so a defeat wouldnt surprise me.

That’s us all but safe now.

Unfucking-believable. 18 points from 7 games since Simpson came back. We were 100% going down a month ago with Keith Millen in charge. The turnaround is miraculous.

Considering the shit show he inherited, this is possibly the greatest managerial performance I’ve seen in my time supporting the club.

Next two for Oldham will be make or break, Orient at home, Stevenage away.

Mathematically it’s unbelievably still in our hands but realistically it isn’t going to happen. We can’t keep missing penalties and conceding goals - it’s all the hallmarks of a team that’s going down

Chin up, still enough opportunities to send Stevenage back where they belong.

Stevenage will be fine I think. Granted they're not great, but fortunately, there's teams worse than them.

I really wish there was some way of guaranteeing we win all our other remaining games as then would be fully in favour of throwing our game against you at VP to help send Stevenage back from whence they came.

The promotion race in this division is pretty insane, but also it's a bit mad that after six successive defeats, Oldham have two opportunities now to get out of the relegation zone regardless of results elsewhere.

You know what to do on Tuesday then lol

Can’t say I’d mind too much if we succumbed on Tuesday. Probably going to be the team that officially relegates Scunny as well. Plus we have the chance to play party pooper for four promotion-chasing sides and two spicy mid-table cup fixtures against Crawley and Walsall. The fun never ends in League Two.

Time to promote myself to the mid-table thread. Best of luck to everyone still scrapping it out. Except Stevenage, obvs.
I’m tempted to join you in there. What a delight it is even contemplating the dizzy heights of mid table!

you need to win on on Tuesday or else Oldham will feel over confident when the face Stevenage and lose that one.

Well Carlisle are out of this now.

So long you shit c***! :fing:

Enjoy the conference and why don't you try appointing a world class manager for a change like we have? Instead of the same old useless has beens from the scrap heap.

You're all tinpot and deserve to go down bunch of negative wankers.
