Might fare better if you actually targeted goals rather than penalties

You said we were in a false position a couple of weeks ago until we stuck a few players on furlough! (Which I'm still pissed off at BTW).

Your outfield play at VP was terrific and your front man a real handful. However, there were times when you appeared to be putting more effort into getting penalties than actually scoring. Suppose it didn't help that you got an early soft penalty(correct decision). Furloughing and signing new is clearly not illegal(quite a loophole left by a stupid government) but to me as a taxpayer, sickening and you clearly agree. It is not the only legal fiddle I could get on my high horse about but not on this forum. I have fond memories of Barrow, its yard and floating crane and was delighted that they got back. Also, I am of the age that can remember watching the wonderfully talented L and H at the Saturday matinees so have an inner warmth for that part of the world. I actually want Barrow and Grimsby to stay up but not feeling too hopeful at the moment. I like Son of Cod's writings. We will be here next season, hope you are too.

Fair play mate, I hope you are right at the end of the day. The Barrow you remember is a thing of the past you'll be saddened to hear, the cranes dominating the skyline are no longer (not that I'm old enough to remember then being in use).

Masi's correct in terms of what he says about the town though. I've actually just stuck an expired nuclear fuel rod up my arse as I felt a bit chilly.

Too much clutching at straws from our fans ( though am sure every club fans in our position would be the same)

But there is no way there won't be two clubs relegated this season as long as there is a NL champion and play off winner and those two clubs have applied for promotion and meet eligibility for promotion.

There are no EFL rules to stop it, in fact there's even a provision in the EFL rules that a premier League club could restart in lge 2 under FA rules and in that case one or more lge 2 clubs would have to be relegated to maintain 72 clubs!

Not sure Wigan will survive. The takeover has been dragging on since last season,
They were a asset rich club back then since then anything worth anything has been sold
And no doubt the will be one or two other clubs on the brink i doubt the will be relegation this season or next couple of seasons as we see clubs liquidated.

Yeah. The Wigan thing is very strange. I know after what happened with their previous owners everybody is being ultra careful but I would have thought it would be wrapped up by now - especially as the purchase price is only £3m.

The Administrators have got to take a lot of flak. Seem more interested in their billable hours than sorting things out.

They had a state of the art training ground which they bought off us........Preston now have that
A massive restaurant shopping complex, thats gone.....known as the chippy.
Any decent players have been sold below market value.....The ground is losing money and they have to pay for the upkeep of that.
Somebody may buy them but what will they actually buy??
They have nothing of value any more

All good points. Depends on the intentions of any new owner.

We’re apparently in the stage of Power selling up to some Yankee company - value @ £7.5m. What would they be getting for that? The CG is being purchased off the council for £2.2m - split 50/50 between owner and Supporters Trust - but it needs a full revamp. Got no players worth a spit and hurtling towards L2.

Wigan is a mess, guess after recent years you can’t say it won’t happen as we’ve lost two clubs in a few months last year.

Smurf had been sniffing around... may as well fold!

I’ve got a bit of a underdog thing going off with Southend, what a achievement if you lot manage to avoid relegation

Isn't it £3m then debts, admin fees, plus having to cover two seasons of costs?

Either way, I don't think anyone will want to commit to them until they know what league they're in next season. If they were mid-table L1 then it might have been wrapped up by now but someone will be hoping to pick them up cheaper next season if they get relegated.

EFL is three divisions. National League is three divisions. They are not connected leagues. Thats the logic the FA runs on. Its stupid having the top division seperate from the next three divisions and then the National League seperate from them but football is not run sensibly. The FA are a waste of time and space.
Problem is the NL is split between what's classed as a predominately professional division with a few part time teams in - albeit very few 'proper' PT times (the NL) and two leagues who're classed as part time leagues with the odd FT team in (the NLN/NLS, which are obviously regional as well, not a national competition) - although they liked to be classed as 'elite' sport to finish the PO's in their league last season but weirdly enough don't like to be classed as 'elite' when it comes to playing on and finishing this season. Weird, eh?

That's why the (flawed) argument has been to create a League 3 for the NL and leave the NLN/NLS and the Conference.

you are a football town with not a lot of competition around you....decent loyal fanbase
Wigan is surrounded by Liverpool/Everton Manchester etc and is a rugby town.
The is a real bitter rivalry between Wigan football and the Rugby team.
Not got a clue about your youth players,Wigan had some great youth England players they have lost.
You will have a training ground and you must have three/four players who would command a fee

They wont be around next season if they are not taken over.

Historical results show that the current top three teams will not be relegated.
They all have more than 46 points, the most points that a team has secured and got relegated in recent years:
Barnet in 2018 or Hartlepool in 2017.

Worst thing for me about being in a relegation battle is the praying for other teams to lose.
I have nothing whatsoever against Southend or Barrow and would not normally be hoping for either of them to be relegated yet stuck down at the bottom with them and I’m willing them both to lose every game and be relegated just so that we can stay up.

Its not a nice frame of mind but its a normal way to think. We have all been there. You are doing nothing wrong.

I don’t want Barrow to stay up as much now, the explanation for the sacking doesn’t sit right.

Maybe Jolley hasn’t actually been sacked, maybe they’ve just put him on furlough.

Er why not Conks? IMO Jolley is an ultra cautious manager in that he focuses too much on the defensive aspect of the game.

Last season he led Grimsby to a goalless draw here at The Abbey and at the time (iirc) we were only one point better off the Mariners. What struck me at the time was that they had 10 men behind the ball all throughout the game. A strange game plan considering we were only a couple of places above them in the table and it seems he was doing the exact same thing at Barrow, or that's the impression I get from their fans on here anyway.

The only thing I'm reading into that Barrow statement is that the club saw such tactics were clearly not working, and they thought they'd better act now. The right thing to do IMO.
