The real league table is about how much money your owners have in their back pocket. Ive been reading the posts, and its amazing, even at non league level, how much is being spent. Surely the club you support should be an expression of the town they are from.
This means fielding local players. If you sign an ex football league star from Merseyside, and he signs for Wisbech on two grand a month, doesnt that make a nonsense of it.? Im probably being idealistic, but it does spoil it for me. Its not about a fair and level playing field. What it becomes is a rich mans hobby. And whoever signs the cheques may not be local. Look at Man City, what a nonsense that is, foreign manager, players, and owner.
Its not about communities anymore. I dont understand how the owners of Man City get any satisfaction from it. I wonder if they even bother looking at the results regularly.
They are that rich. Its not even football anymore, but a friendly five a side, tippy tappy nonsense, predictable and boring. Not like the old days.
