If Sunderland survive again, I give up. They, more than even us, and we're fucking terrible this season, deserve to go down purely for being in the relegation zone, getting a new manager, and staying up. Season, after season, after season. It's old now...

Sunderland's win today was massive. Not only does it keep Newcastle in with a distant shout of staying up, but also Chelsea will continue to wonder about their status in next years Premier League for another week.

Interesting how that's twice in 2 seasons now a club has lost the FA Cup final and then got relegated the next season, that being pre-dated by Wigan who won it and went down the same season.
One of Crystal Palace or Watford (whoever wins next Sunday) to be relegated in 16/17 would be a safe bet.

Assuming CP don't go down this season.

Awful defeat for Norwich when you consider their run-in..

We need to win two of our last games to have a chance of staying up and I just don't think that's going to happen. I reckon we'll finish on 35 points which won't be enough.

Got a lot of faith in Sunderland and/or Newcastle to do their job then?

Norwich definitely won't win another game in their run-in

Think Villa are down :dis:
A draw at lunchtime must suit the Canaries more than Sunderland? Wouldn't surprise me if we saw an away win there though. Mind you a convincing Norwich win wouldn't be the biggest shock in the world either, it's been that sort of season.

Be fair lad, hes stuck his neck out with that Villa prediction.

Have to admit i didn't see Sunderland putting away three without reply. Spot on with the Villa result though. Looks like being an even tougher Championship to get out of next year, but I'll stick my neck out and predict Villa will bounce back and that's before they've sorted out who is going/staying. ;-)

You think they'll bounce back straight away? The club has major problems that will continue on into next season I think. They need a major squad overhaul and to give the new manager a bit of time for a rebuild.

Big Sam will see Sunderland to survival at the expense of Norwich and Newcastle. Always seems to dig out results when it matters most

This is looking interesting now Newcastle seem to have woken up and you'd expect them to beat Palace and Villa leaving them with a hell of a showdown with Spurs on the last day.

Sunderland's run in isn't too bad but I wouldn't be surprised to see them go down on the back of too many draws. Can see them getting a Wigan-esque 1-0 win at Watford on the last day though.

Norwich are far from gone despite their fans' negativity. Watford and Everton are the type of teams you'd want to face in your last two games.

If we get into our game v Arsenal next Saturday evening still outside the relegation zone I reckon we stay up, if not we go down. Need a defeat for Newcastle against Palace and defeats for Sunderland v Arsenal and Stoke.

Think two wins and a draw will be enough for us to stay up. Newcastle improving is a worry, need them to drop points against Palace or Villa, hopefully both. Norwich I not so sure about, could be the dark horses.

Mag's I think are pretty certain to finish on 36. Norwich I would predict 38 to be on the safe side, because its better to overestimate.

That means we need 9 points from 5 (due to the goal difference); Games vs Stoke, Everton and Watford are thee big hopes to pick up points, Chelsea is a game we can get a point if we are desperate and they don't turn up - unlikely though.

Anything from Arsenal today is a bonus, get something and we are well on our way - if not lets hope we turn in around before Stoke.

Norwich are far from gone despite their fans' negativity. Watford and Everton are the type of teams you'd want to face in your last two games.

Norwich - Arsenal (a) 0pts, Man Utd (h) 1pt, Watford (h) 3pts, Everton (a) 1pt = 36pts (and come on, that's being optimistic)

I'd fancy Newcastle to beat Palace and Villa which would take them to 36pts. So Sunderland would only need 6 points from 15 (their GD is streets ahead thanks to last week). They'll easily do that. Even if they lose today, you'd fancy them to beat a Stoke side that has conceded 12 goals in 3 games with nothing to play for and a Watford side that has been on the beach since mid-February. And that's not considering this time of season every year they get their act together and beat sides you don't expect them to meaning you can't rule out them beating Arsenal, Chelsea or Everton (plus the psychological boost of last week - an easy, clinical win to go from being 90 mins away from probable relegation to survival favourites)

It's over for Norwich. I'm not one for delusion - that doesn't make me negative, just pragmatic.

Pleased with that point.

I think next week will go along way to sorting everything out. Seem's that if the Mag's drop points against Villa or Palace they are gone. If we can beat Stoke we will be in pole position or if Norwich can get 4+ points from there next two they'll be pretty much safe IMO.

Targets -
Newcastle - 6 points from next two
Sunderland - 4 Points from Stoke and Chelsea
Norwich - Match or better Sunderland's result next weekend

.
If Newcastle had gotten Benitez in just 2-3 games earlier I reckon he would have kept them up. As it is, it's relying too much on other teams.
