The Wednesday
Sunderland are a big club, far bigger than Preston with all due respect. I'm guessing the owner has also promised him a bit of transfer money and of course the facilities are top drawer. Grayson might not get this big an opportunity again. I'd certainly bet that he never thought he'd get a chance at a club like Sunderland after he was canned by Huddersfield. Fair play to him for taking the plunge.
He's already managed bigger than Sunderland.

Strange move for Grayson, Sunderland are a total mess at the minute and I expect them to have a similar season to Villa last year but maybe flirt with the bottom half a bit more. Seemed to be building a good, young progressive side at PNE on a shoestring budget. I suppose money talks though and his wages will probably be far higher than what he was earning at Deepdale. If Sunderland give him time I think he'll definitely get them going in the right direction, I just can't see him being given that and if they start slowly next year (which they will) then he could be out of a job by November.
Exactly as i said. Bigger fan base than preston, yes but that means little in football now just look at bournmouth compared to aston villa. Im sure preston have more modest expectations. This is hasslebank all over again, top man at burton, went to qpr, and was out of a job in a few months

It depends which way he's looking at it really. If he gets it right at Sunderland he's managing in the prem and enhanced his CV even more.

If he gets it wrong, he's made a few quid more than he would here, and as soon as he's out of work he'd walk into another job probably with his previous achievements.

Not sure who I want to replace him, would love Moysie but not sure we'd be able to pull it off.
Yes could go either way, pulls of miracle and gets them up at 1st attempt or is sacked by xmas as expectations are too high. Sunderland should not be dissappointed if they aint near top this season

Unproven means fuck all: Benitez, Hughton, Stam, Carvalhal, Wagner, Jokanovic and Monk were the managers in the top seven last season, how many of them are properly "proven" championship managers?

Clarke would be a great appointment for any club at this level as much as it pains me to say it, he's worked wonders with Rovers, PNE would have no chance with him now he's just signed a new deal.

Anyway, Gerrard favourite on SkyBet.
I reckon that's 'protection' to be honest fella. As SF says, it just means the compensation would definitely be needed to get him.
In all seriousness, I think he would be a great fit for PNE and like you, begrudgingly, I will admit he's a talented Manager albeit a bloody shite singer! ;)
Stop talking like this is even a thing. Just stfu ffs.

Had loads of applicants over night, with some high profile names being in there. Compared to when we appointed Grayson and he was the biggest name. Gerrard is one of the applicants however isn't being considered due to his experience.

Gerrard, ha.

Maybe Clarke will go on to be a good manager but he's not someone i'd take a gamble on, taking a club of Bristol Rover's size out of the Conference and League Two via the play-offs and a third place finish doesn't really impress me. Paul Simpson did the same with Carlisle and he was absolutely shit at this level.

We've got a good, young squad and i'd like a manager with a bit of pedigree personally, whether that be someone who has done well at this level before, or a well-respected coach, I expect to be disappointed though.

If Preston take Alexander and then Wallace from us I think I’d hate them more than any club in the world. Take someone else please.

I hope we don't take Alexander off you either. I'd not want his reputation here to be tarnished in any way if he didn't do a good job.

Thought you weren't a massive fan of Grezza?
I like him. He has some quite glaring faults which we saw after Christmas but so does any manager at our level really. Realistically, we're not gonna get anyone better than him.

It won't happen but I really hope that David Moyes becomes the next Preston manager to complete the circle of his managerial career and finally kill the poor sod off. The last few years have been hard on him and I imagine the press conference might look something like this if he rejoins.

Alex Neil has been pictured with Ridsdale today at Deepdale. Looking like he could be due to take over by the middle of this week.

Would be happy with this, hopefully he's learnt from his mistakes at Norwich and he can progress us.

Definetly, out of all the names in the running he'd be my choice.

Looks a done deal, potentially announced this afternoon.

Welcome to Deepdale Ross Kemp's stumpy Scottish brother.

Can see Yanic going there if Norwich are willing to take a massive loss on him.

We wouldnt get anywhere near his wages, loan at best but we have other areas which need strengthening. Got Barkhuizen, Horgan, Robinson & Harrop who can play down the sides.
