Harry Davis in the team again and we've gone to 4 at the back, allow me to throw on a few handicap accas with Sheffield United included in all of them.

Hang on we're playing 3 up front and we're actually winning?

Who's the fraud in charge and what has he done with Davis?

Well I'm going back to France. Awful. Need a goal and he brings on Doyle for Baxter. Absolutely clueless

Not a coincidence that when we set up attackingly like we did today that we pick up a decent result. We've got the players but SD needed to find the way of getting the best out of them and he has today thankfully. Credit where credits due.

What a win that was. Started a bit shakily, got back into the game and went ahead with a good bit of play by Ikpeazu to lay in LDV to score.

Ajose then blew 2 great chances to score, first one he tried a lay across to LDV when it was never on and the 2nd he side footed it straight at the keeper. After that, we were under the cosh for most of the first half, but despite a couple of shaky moments, never looked badly troubled. Rachubka was not properly tested.

2nd half, we again were on the back foot for a decent portion of the half, but again didn't look like conceding until we did. Poor long ball read by Turton, then he lets Murphy back him into the penalty area and play a pass. Nice touch and goal by Holt mind, but still sloppy defending.

After that, neither side looked much like scoring, few half chances here and there. Looked like the game was going to peter out to a 1-1 draw, but then we actually showed some attacking intent late in the game. Grant makes a strong run into their half and wins a free kick. Coco hits the free kick off a Sheff U player for a corner. He then receives the short corner, cuts inside and unleashes a thunderbolt of a shot. Bit of dip and swerve, but yeah, awful keeping by Howard.

After that we saw the game out pretty well. A draw would have been a fair result, but we snatched the win and I suppose the fans deserved this after weeks of utterly appalling football. Huge 3 points which takes us to within a couple of wins of safety.

To be honest, Davis has come in for huge amounts of stick for playing dull and negative football. Perhaps he intended all along to play a better lineup after last week or maybe the fans pressure got to him and he buckled. Who knows. Either way, the fans calls for more positivity was the right call and he has been proved wrong with all his negative stuff. The way we play our best football, the way we get our best results, the way we get success, is by playing attacking lineups with attacking intent. With a mindset of winning games, of scoring goals, not keeping them out. If Davis can realise that, there might be hope left for him. However, if this turns out to be a one off, then it really is time for him to go.

Not hard Steve, set us up to win games(regardless of the opposition, we are only in L1 FFS!) and score goals. Doesn't have to be gung ho, doesn't have to be Barcelona esq football all the time. Just has to be positive. Grant was excellent today, Ajose and LDV were lively on the wings and stuck to their positions well. Back 4 were given some problems, but didn't look too bad all things considered. Ness is still too deep to do his best work. Atkinson...erm...well he is a warm body. Not really sure what he does, good or bad. Just a completely anonymous performance from him. Uche was shocking, couldn't trap a bag of cement. Mind, he did set up the goal for LDV.

Roll on next Friday.

Oh and as for Sheff U, they looked just like they did back when we played them 3 times back in October/November. Decent enough ball players and tidy build up, but they lack end product and bar the goal, our keeper didn't have a serious save to make. You can see why they are where they are. Murphy was excellent as per, we always struggle against him. Like blade1889, I was mystified when Baxter was taken off for Doyle. Ok, the former wasn't having a good game, but taking off an attacking midfielder for a defensive one? Strange.

They'll make the play offs, but not sure if they'll go up out of them. But the play offs are a lottery, so you never know.

Clough out?

I've been fairly anti clough for a while to be fair, hes ridiculously negative and theres no need for it. The Baxter for Doyle substitution just epitomised that.

Crewe looked shaky defensively but we still persisted with one up top, astounding

That was a turn up for the books. Looked a completely different outfit from the last three weeks but that sums up the season. Good to see Colclough live up to this week's hype, he looked bright and ambitious, to get the goal was fitting. The relief for him was plain to see. I'd say its a bonus win, it was certainly a vital win, but it really only makes up for some complete no-shows

Sheff Utd though, absolutely woeful for a team so comfortably in the top 6.

2 points clear with a fair run in. No excuses, we should be safe with a couple of games to spare.

One win changes nothing but as JJ says if he drops the negativity the fans will get behind him again. Attacking football is what this club and its fans have demanded for 30 years. Let's hope we do the business against the relegation threatened sides at home.

As Crewe fans we only ask for two things good attacking entertaining football and give our talented youngsters a chance. If we lose we take it on the chin, but with players like Colclough, Cooper, Barratt ect we should always just about be able keep our heads above danger, but instead of doing it the dull way and playing for 0-0 but losing 4 or 5-0, we will lose 4-3 and when we win, were able put 3 or 4 past the poor teams. For my whole life that's been the "Crewe way" the ethos has always been we know we can't defend but we'll have a good go of out scoring the opposition.

Who is....?
Presume he's on about Ryan Colclough. Probably over doing it a little but he is mega talented. He was terrific for us 18 months ago and looked destined for greatness and be our next 1 million pound plus player, but he hasn't played for 18 months due to injury problems and problems with the law.

Not over doing it at all. The guy is unbelievable. I have consistently said he is a better player than Powell, and I stand by that. He has bulked out a hell of a lot as well, which shows that he has put the time in when he's been out.

And yesterday just proves that Davis can fook off. We went for it, we won. No backs to the wall bullshit, because we actually held onto the ball further up the pitch for once. Hopefully he will fook this negative nonsense off once and for all.

I think you're getting misty eyed about coco. Although he does have a look of Nick Powell to his game.

You have obviously forgotten the start of last season then. When he was 18 years old. When he was playing in an absolutely pathetic Crewe team, and making countless opposition players look stupid. He was a team within a team. We had 10 players, and him. Without him at the start of last season, we wouldn't have won for the first 10-15 games. And we would probably have been relegated.

Beautiful.....

Always liked Crewe Alex.

Earlier in the week i thought we'd win then yesterday had a very bad feeling about it so came up with the great idea of staying in the cricketers. And what an idea it turned out to be. Big game next week now in dingle land
