Yes I have, I'll sort it presently
I scotch bonnet, deseeded.
3 limes squeezed
Peanut/ olive oil. Amount depends on how thick you want the marinade and how strong
2 spoons of brown sugar
Sliced spring onions
Clove of crushed garlic
Finely sliced ginger and lemongrass
Blitz it all together and season. Marinade your bit of fish overnight. Lovely job

This marinade also works for roasted vegetables and is good for mushrooms. This being the vegan thread and everything.

Well now I'm hungry and have access to roughly 2 of the things you've mentioned!

I love how a thread on being vegetarian has changed to swapping omnivorous recipes

Edit: See you got a quick OAFing in there G

You're just bullying us now.

Our relationship with sea life troubled me a long time before eating meat.

Fish aren't stupid and they feel trauma. We have a complete disregard for sea life and the damage it causes the environment in my opinion.

I was the opposite and I'm ashamed of myself really. I had the pervasive notion that it was OK to eat fish because they are nothing like us and they don't really feel anything. And it's the ocean right, that'll never run out! I train a lot, so my diet was pretty much just a lot of chicken and fish.

When I decided to stop eating animals, I clung onto the idea I could continue to eat fish for a while and I'd still be doing my part for the environment and the well-being of other creatures. When I properly dug into the research on how we are pretty much wiping the oceans clean (not just directly by wiping out a certain fish, but also indirectly by impacting the entire eco-system that prey on that fish) at the moment with horrendous over-fishing I couldn't ignore my conscience any more. And that's not even taking into account fish farming, which is arguably as bad as the factory farming of traditional livestock.

Genuinely not far off. I did eat an absurd amount of salmon during that transitional period.

Fish is good for you. Can you replace the valuable fatty omega-3 acids prevalent in fish which help strengthen your brain cells? I fear not, and sadly that's why vegans are so stupid.

How're you getting on with Proust?

Hey, vegans! What is your stance on honey? Not on a wind up for the record, just something I'm curious about.

Vegans won't eat it. Think it takes several bees to make a small amount over their lifetime? Not sure though as I don't really like the stuff.

I don't eat honey because it is an animal product. However, I'm not sure if it's really as bad as dairy and eggs and I wonder if beekeepers could actually be doing some good for the world, so I may change my stance after I do more research. If I can ever be bothered to do some more research.

Mixed views. I haven't done my research impeccably well, but I'm sure the honey trade does tie in with the vital job us humans have on our hands of saving the bee population that we're otherwise doing our level best to wipe out. Ethically I'm for it, and know plenty of vegans by and large are #notarsed about it either way.

Would you eat a pig if it had done something really, really bad?

E.g. raped an owl.

ONE MONTH DONE. :gr:

Not sure what to do now really. I was kind of banking on feeling either a) noticeably better or b) a bit worse and lost too much weight/energy - but i kinda just feel the same which I guess is a good thing as it means I've done the switch correctly but on the flip-side it's hard to justify not having a nice steak.

Glad I stumbled on this! Just made the jump back to vegitarian last week, been on my mind for ages now and I was for over a year when I was around 16/17 but stopped for health reasons. Basically I didn't manage my diet like I should have, but it's time to give it another crack and I'll definitely be checking out some of the food and recipes you lot have mentioned.

Think I saw Cowspiracy mentioned earlier on, definitely a watch for absolutely everyone who will give it a crack. Not to try and convert, but to at least open peoples eyes to it because it's absolutely shocking.

watched vegucated and forkes over knives recently. It's a bit mental innit this, now I've started digging into it - not sure how biased these documentaries are and I'm hardly going to do thorough fact checks on everything but if it's all accurate with no hidden agenda then I don't think I fancy eating meat ever again.

Still need to watch Earthlings like, something to watch when you're totally prepared I'm assuming? Not necessarily when you're just trying to wind down after work? Hahaha

Any more recipes like guys? Anything that's fairly easy to chuck together would be appreciated

Veg curries. Basically what I'm eating every night and so easy to knock together...just chuck a load of spices together first and then veg, being aware of what cooks faster than other things and you're away. One pot cooking mainly and super quick.

I've been having these (link below) once a week. Decent and very easy recipe - although you need to be quite generous with the suggested flavourings and definitely use the steak sauce (you can make your own) on the mushrooms. I just chucked them in the pan first time around and it was a bit like eating mushy veg in a wrap.

Fry up some aubergine, peppers and have it with some gnocchi. Mix in some red pesto.

This is what I had for my tea today.

Made my kids bangers and mash.

You are like one of those drug dealers that sells an addict some shitty heroin and laughs at him while he jacks up.

day off work so I decided to see if I could break my PB on my run round Kingfisher Trail (3.8 miles) at Attenborough Nature Reserve and I did.

*turns to camera*

and I did it all thanks to my new vegan diet...possibly.
