Nearly 36° in Watford yesterday. I can't begin to imagine how someone could actually enjoy that shit. Hot, sticky, uncomfortable and energy sapping. And it's even worse if you're unfortunate enough to have to use the trains.

Much nicer today.

It's raining in Somerset this morning, walking in it was a pleasure after the heat of the last 2 days. Thunderstorms predicted later though.

Been a lightening show outside for the last hour, thunder of course also means cats cowering behind a settee and making noises akin to a spluttering F1 car which is always amusing.

Last night was wild over many parts of the uk with storms galore. Almost 12,000 lightning strikes.

Spent the day in an office wearing a jumper and drinking loads of water. Ate well. Came home, went on a run. Still developed a goddam sore throat. Conclusion: summer OUT.

My favourite time of year. Not too hot, not too old. And perfect for cycling when the wind isn't blowing.

Terrible flooding up North just before the chrismas period, literally the worst time of the year. Some places have blown the 24hour record rainfall totals by a long shot, up to 14 inches of rain in some parts of Cumbria. I see that there's a Cobra meeting lined up for tommorow and that the army may be sent it to help out like they have been in parts of Ireland. Some of the pictures look scary.

Yep let's hope Dave, Shoddy and our other Cumbrian chaps are ok and not badly effected. The pictures look crazy, one story about a bloody first floor flat that got flooded, first floor! 8-9 foot off the ground! Incredible.

And after million pent on beefing up defences. Will be interesting to hear after the clean up whether or not those did their job / how they could be improved. Guess water always has to go somewhere.

A bloke was interviewed on BBC Breakfast this morning and said a lot of people couldn't get insurance after what happened last time which is shocking. My heart goes out to all those affected who have lost so much and just before Christmas as well.

Curzon Ashton....and Carlisle
I walked over that big bridge when it was like that at about 8pm, seen it was a lot higher than usual, but it had stopped raining at the time so thought it'd be ok.

then wake up next morning and most of the areas near where I live under water, lucky for me my part of Warwick road is 2-3 blocks away so no chance of floods (plus I'm 3rd floor so I'd been fine)

but certainly a big shock looking out sunday morning.

Surely the pitch is gonna take weeks if not months to recover, where they gonna play their games?

Lancaster has slipped under the radar (perhaps rightly) due to Cumbria hogging all the water, but the entire city of Lancaster (and more) was without electricity for over 24 hours. It's now running off about 40 generators whilst they try and sort out the substation. Both universities in the city have just shut for the week and sent as many students home as possible.

My apartment block was pretty much in the centre of of it all (Thankfully I'm second floor), some crazy pictures of my road being under water, all the more surprising as Lancaster doesn't tend to get hit by floods. Thankfully I was away over the weekend but there was no way in or out of Lancaster on Saturday even, all routes flooded and main bridges closed.

A cool and comfortable 15 degrees in London. If you haven't realised that London is the perfect place to live in the UK by now, it's time to give up.

You wait till there's a puddle on Oxford Street. Hysteria.

Escaped Lancaster again. Power off again, quite eerie driving round a blacked out town. BBC saying power could be off for another 24hrs. Not good when there isn't even mobile signal.

Carlisle were away down Welling yesterday. I wonder if they traveled down on Saturday and their players left their cars at the ground, they'll be a bit damp if so.
