I guess Adam Stag is right. The place doesn’t appeal to many Shots supporters either. But you can’t help where you are brought up, and humble as the “Rec” and the town is, I’d much rather travel back there to watch my now not-so-local club, than join the glory hunters who follow rich and fashionable clubs umpteen miles away. And Mansfield is hardly fashionable either, but I’d love the chance to go back and visit the place again with the Shots back in the FL. Sadly I expect a long wait.

I thought was alright tbh, as long as there’s a shit pub and the locals are alright you’re on to a winner, that’s all you need.

Just i guess when you come from somewhere more “humble” as i do (otherwise known as a dump haha) it’s best not to go round critisising too many places - the dig at aldershot was more that there or grimsby wouldn’t be much difference)

It’d still be applied this season if it meant they were relegated. Sounds like it’s nonsense anyway, though.

Pretty much between the bottom 3 now.

Grimsby had a player sent off for headbutting his own teammate (as you do) in their loss to bradford.

in 2 games time colchester host southend, a win for colchester pretty much takes out the bottom 2. barrow still possible to catch whereas on 46 mansfield and walsall are all but safe.

FFS Grimsby, when a club comes back down it depresses the hell out of us lot who see promotion back into the League as a cure all.

You should be forced to fold and come back as Cleethorpes FC

You've got a point there. I keep thinking this is the one and only time we are down here. In my mind we get promoted at some point and run the club well enough for us never to be this bad again. This is the wake up call. It's so much easier to stay in L2 than get into it from here.

Grimsby , what are you doing, you know what's coming, you remember all the bad stuff , why are you allowing it happen again?

It's immeasurably worse the second time I can assure you.

Boardroom incompetence is the reason most of us are down here and seems that's the case for Southend and Grimsby.

Looking from the outside I would expect Southend to struggle down here next season but not sure what to expect from Grimsby.

Can our visitors from above fill us in on what we can expect from our new Brotherhood members?

I know what to expect as I already watch this level as much as I do League Football. I'm not bothered about the club being at this level I'm bothered about us being here with Ron Martin in charge.
As you say, expect us to struggle. Ron had a supporters meeting a couple of weeks ago at which he admitted he knew nothing about this level, didn't know what the entry requirements are and hadn't done any planning to be here. Then said we'll have a budget to 'get out of the league.' So National South here we come.

I can't imagine Phil Brown will be manager in this league, especially with hardly any cash to do anything with, so we'll be looking for yet another manager. Ron makes all those decisions, seemingly on his own, so god only knows who we'll end up with, or when. Probably have another pre-season with no manager or coaches.
If we avoid a relegation battle next season I'd say it would have been a success.

Something I would like to know about is Barnet's new ground, haven't been there yet and we had a pretty good record at Underhill so I enjoyed going there.

Exactly what I thought when we finally got out of here, I thought lessons would have been learned and it would never be allowed to happen again but unfortunately John Fenty thought otherwise.
Thankfully new owners are on the horizon so next season should hopefully be a fresh start and we will be in a much better position off the pitch albeit in this awful league.

Darlington have been relegated a couple of times haven't they? Original Halifax?
The old Halifax did it a few times yes. 18 years or so since we were last in the league though it's been a while

Assuming Notts County stay down, could next season be the biggest this league has seen in terms of the size of clubs down here?

Notts County
Wrexham
Chesterfield
One of Hartlepool or Stockport
Grimsby
Southend

All clubs who could average a crowd of over 4000 in a good season. I'd expect most of these to be fighting it out near the top as well.

Phil Brown won't have one iota of National league football and would be a waste of time. You would need to go for a decent Non League manager ( One that knows the Conference anyway ). Then get rid of all your big time charlies and bring in a good selection of hungry non league players. Its all very well having a good budget but you still need to spend wisely. Remember you will be quite a few teams cup final -- So be prepared. Also you need ( and your fans ) to respect the other clubs. Everyone is in the Conference for a reason.

Yeah it looks like it will be a tough league again for sure, although I guess at least with so many decent sized clubs there in the same season it may feel a bit less like non league.

You look at that list and knowing you and Stockport will be awash with cash and it makes me think we really need to get out this year, will be a tough league next season

I think you have a good boss, which can earn you promotion even without a larger financial backing. It looks like you'll get a good crack at it this year though, the play offs could be very interesting.

We need to do a Stockport and get a new manager in to improve us to their level.

I'd poach Chesterfield's boss tbh. They're doing alright, I'd like us to do alright.

Not seen anything special from our manager yet. We were the 4th or 5th best team in the league before he was here and still the same now.

Names will be made in the play-offs though. Time your run right, win 2/3 on the spin at the right time during the play-off games and you're a hero. We have as good a chance as anybody at that stage.

From the bits and pieces I've read on here OneDecentLester's posts would be worth the compensation fee alone.
