I mean you're right but Wrexham shouldn't be mentioned in the same breath as the other three, they are going to be omega levels ahead, that's why I hope we escape this season cos next season is gonna be fucked for the rest of us.

Having won the conference in a season where you needed 95 points (a tally well beyond anyone could this season realistically ) and a 12 match winning streak to go up as champions when you had the likes of luton, cambridge, wrexham (again) newport - what do sutton do which gets them up there? (the points i make in reference to what we achieved isn’t to brag, it’s a reference in an understanding of how bloody hard it can be to get out of here)

Just an organised side with average players? a great side with a small squad depth that’s got lucky?

I remember how hard it is to get out the conference and it’s harder than any league in the football league.

As the season goes on league 2 is equally curious on who comes up and like barrow it appears the mystery option appears to be the case again?

Some really decent sides in the playoffs that have the potential to fly in league 2

At this level we're a good draw for many players so I don't worry about that much. We're more vulnerable to our owner to be honest. It's all about when he'll pull the plug.

We don't go up this year, I think we'll have a very difficult future. I may be wrong but it's more than just a hunch like.
If we don’t go up this season, I think he’ll give it another go because we’ll have came pretty close.
If it doesn’t happen again, then I think he’ll be out.

You might be right but I don't trust the shady fucker one bit. His fat fingers hovering over the delete club button whenever he fancies is not a healthy situation. You know he'll press it, it's just when.

They're just a good side with good players. Couple of outstanding players for this level there by circumstance in Bouzanis and Beautyman, some solid old heads in Eastmond and Milsom, a good loanee in Olaofe. I think the days of multiple teams getting 85+ points are over tbh, the league's still hard but in a different way. It's probably more similar to the EFL divisions in that the teams at the bottom are all capable of beating the teams at the top now. Apart from Barnet, bless them.

As Jacob mentions above we’ve got a good mixture of players due to a mixture of decent recruitment and happy circumstance. Add in a solid structure and decent work ethic it’s led to a season beyond our wildest expectations (I had us as finishing 10th at the start of the season).

Of course the challenge now is to work out how we get of a poor run of results.

IF Sutton don't go up can we have Harry Beautyman next season?

Torquay and Hartlepool are both very good, but I think they’re both a bit more vulnerable to a manager or couple of key players leaving. The four mentioned will all have budgets big enough that they should challenge whatever.
That could apply to any team.
Considering your big budget, you haven’t exactly coped with the loss of Dennis & Thomas.

True, but my argument there would be that we didn’t replace Dennis properly in the summer, lost Thomas out of the blue and got a useless replacement, and have had Roberts injured all season, but have still been in the play-offs for the whole thing. We’ve managed to stay vaguely competitive despite losing 35-40 goals, probably because of our big budget/squad.

It’s all those BELTS Willy waving and not looking over their shoulder and allowing a tinpot team to gate crash the party.

Simple answer is 'Don't'... you wouldn't like it in League 2 anyway, plus you'd have to play on turf every game.

What an uninspiring set of teams in the relegation picture, some proper tinpotters in there.
Looks like it’ll be Grimsby and one other - hopefully Southend, considering how rattled they were a few years ago when we deliberately turned the lights off to deny them promotion.
Hopefully Barrow can survive - would be a disaster for the Southern brotherhood to lose Sutton and Torquay and have them replaced by Grimsby and Barrow.
Uninspiring? We're officially the fourth biggest non-league team of all time ever, so forgive me for spitting tea all over my computer at this absolutely ridiculous slander.

Craig Eastmond was mentioned by our Management Team during our 'Meet the Manager' night on Tuesday as a great example of what our midfield needs to be more like - not just more athletic, physical and dynamic but constantly in the referees ear.

He is a proper captain in that way. A leader, example and communicator.

Hopefully you will go up good luck anyway!
But what is your plans if it does happen as regards your pitch?

Try and paint it a bit more green and hope no-one notices!

Seriously however there are plans in place to replace the 3G if we go up, the favourite is to install a hybrid (as long as it’s got some grass it’s OK, even if it is largely synthetic).

Aldershot (and Boreham Wood, apparently )
Are the posh residents of leafy Sutton ready for the EFL? They weren’t very happy when little Aldershot won the Isthmian Premier at GGL.

What are the seating requirements in the EFL? Isn't GGL largely standing?

This is why Sutton are tanking it isn't it?

basically 1000 seats to get into the EFL - rising to 2000 by the end of the 2nd season

What's the sanction if you don't get the 2000 seats by the end of season 2? Do you get kicked out?

We’ve had planning permission to install the needed seats for EFL entry, which should be going up in the coming days I would imagine.

in theory yes? - but dunno if anyone has failed that yet?

You have to have plans and funding in place, all verified, don't you? Wasn't that a reason Stevenage Borough didn't get promoted all those years ago, they had a stadium that could be promoted but they had nothing in place to upgrade it for the season after where they had to have more seating.
Only team I can think of that's come close to an automatic relegation is Peterborough in the Championship, who needed all seater in the 3rd season but had no plans in place for it to be ready, they mysteriously had an awful season and were relegated , leaving them to take their time to sadly get rid of their fantastic away end.

Weren’t Stevenage caught out because they needed to have a Football League standard ground by December 31st (same thing happened to Kidderminster and Macclesfield in the previous seasons denying them promotion)? I’m sure it was after then that the date was changed to April 1st and then to the situation now in place.

Yeah something like that, but I'm sure the ground was not an issue in itself, it was that they had no plans/funding in place to upgrade it in time.
The difference between League 2 and this level is so negligible I really don't see the need for such differing stadia criteria. If Morecambe's ground is acceptable then Sutton's current set up is.
