Yep. It's quite good so far. Reckon I must be about half way through it. Would've liked more of a new area to explore but it is nice for Oxenfurt to finally been utilised properly.

Yeah I'm liking it, as an added bonus you can start a HoS only save then use that for NG+
Good for me since half way through my NG+ DM I basically lost my saves

Anyone use a specific witcher set yet? Cat gear usually is geared towards fast attack play styles. Griffin gear is for players who exploit signs whilst the bear set is for people who want strong attacks and high vitality (at the expense of stamina).

Playing the game on DM I've found investing everything in Igni really is overkill. You can burn dozens of level 50 soliders within seconds even when you're only in the levels 20/30's yourself.

I never found Igni that effective, do you need to have like all of the Igni tiers active? On DM I used Axii alternate and just basically made packs of wolves and stuff just kill each other, since they seem to kill stuff in 3 hits whilst I take like 10 minimum.

At the end of my first playthrough I went full Wolf armour, because I thought the Cat armour looked weird on someone like Geralt, then Griffin silver sword since I find I use signs a lot more vs monsters (and it has a sweet pommel and scabbard), and Cat steel sword because damage increase ect.

Using master Griffin set ATM. Crafting is so laborious with the console version's UI.

Ps. I also used Igni a lot but am finding myself using Quen more and more, simply because melee combat is more enjoyable.

Out of interest, does anyone use Yrden for anything other than ghosts? Even the alt version is kinda shite as it takes ages to cast.

It seems pointless for me unless against Wraiths as you say. It's supposed to slow down enemies, but also has additional effects if invested into. Personally I think the other signs are much more worthwhile to invest ability points into. I really only use Igni and Quenn. The protective shield to get your vitality back is great on DM difficulty.

Is there any sort of alchemy builds you'd recommend? Normally I can't be bothered to mess around with putting oils on my weapons and such, and only having 12 slots for abilities really limits what sort of style you can invest in.

Yeah I Quen when there's only one of a group of enemies left and just use him to get health back, save my potions haha

I honestly haven't bothered with anything like an alchemy build, as I get the impression it only works if you know whats coming, plus it would mean tanking a lot of 'strong alcohol' drinks to keep you potions up and they seem to have nerfed one of my go to potions (Thunderbolt). I've pretty much only gone for a sign build so far, as just from glancing at the melee abilities none of them seemed that good other than the first 2 damage increases and arrow deflect.
You could drink a potion of clearing and save it to another save to experiment I guess.

Filling up the melee special slots has made my game increasingly easy, especially after developing greater red mutagens towards the end of the game. This is on the 2nd hardest difficulty, too.

Tbf I think on all difficulties once you get to Skellige/Kaer Mohren areas it become fairly easy.
Between leaving White Orchard and finishing the Barons questline I found it heavy going and wasn't entirely sure I was enjoying the game, that one quest with Keira and the Wild Hunt in particular. But then I hit like level 12 and started to enjoy it more, and that was only on the second highest difficulty.

so for some reason I got to the part where you have to recruit for the impending battle and stopped playing it.

I need to complete and send it back.

How does the new expansion work, do you start from your save spot on the original game?

You can do or you can start with a pre-made Geralt just for the expansion.

So at the very end of the quest it says 'speak to cerys' and I have exhausted all lines to speak about.

Anyone know how I can complete this?

Who did you make king/queen? (btw you need to have completed both their quests and then the 'kingmaker' quest to recruit them
Basically it's Hjalmar(?) who you need to go with you, so talk to him.
Also you Ermion should go but I think that's unavoidable

Cerys - But I have spoken to all of the family. This is at the ceremony on the top of the hill.

The 'coronation' at the place where the druids are?
You have to talk with them when they're back at Kaer Trolde. I'm guessing if you maybe fast travel back to Velen/Novigrad and back it might work.
You then need to talk to all 3 of them.

I'm still making my way through the main game. How does Hearts of Stone work? Do I need to complete the main storyline first?

The quest levels begin at level 30, so at least towards the end of the main questline. You can also start a brand new HoS only save if you wanted to, which automatically puts you at level 31 with a good set of potions and bombs. They incorporated dialogue into it for before and after main questline so it doesn't matter too much.

What view do people play this on? When I played oblivion I used 1st person, but for the witcher I've used 3rd person.

Edit: is there even a first person view?

Only 3rd person, don't think the combat would work in 1st person tbh

Did the 'Woodland Spirit' witcher contract for the first time last night (trying to get them last few trophies),
Even in a sidequest like that there were some hard decisions, and i think I chose wrong.

What are the consequences of 'incorrect' decisions? Presumably you can still finish the game?

Yeah no decision is going to stop you finishing the game, but they do have some 'weight' behind them (good example is 'the whispering hillock' quest). Truthfully there aren't any genuine 'incorrect' decisions, just that the decision I made had consequences that I didn't want.

Witcher 3 is fucking awesome. It makes most other games feel like dumbed down black and white pantomimes in comparison

Finally completed this.

I have never played a game with so much depth and attention to detail. I feel a little bit sad that I didn't give it more attention and really get into the nooks and crannies of it. Nonetheless I thought it was a epic game, my GOTY.
