there's an election

Looks like turnout is up in most areas. So there are two stories. First, how much of the ex UKIP vote has each each party hoovered up? Second, how many new voters and previous non-voters have Labour mobilised?

Truly amazing result if the Tories do fall short of a majority.

Loving the early signs in Scotland. Just about the only prediction I've made that appears to have come true. Scottish nationalism has reached its high water mark and the Scottish people - sensible people that they are - have realised that their future lies within the U.K.

If only the Tories had someone like Davidson fighting the national campaign they may have done far better.

I don't think Conservative gains in the North East will matter that much. Where Labour are losing and Conservatives are gaining voters it is due to the collapse of UKIP, but in these regions the Labour vote is high enough to sustain it anyway. In a lot of areas young people will have been mobilised as a result of Brexit too.

Apparently Amber Rudd is in real danger of losing her seat.

Standing by my ultra-pessimistic predictions in the face of all the evidence.

I think most of the Ukips' collapse actually has gone to the Tories after all, but the split possibly is made to look balanced by a higher youth turnout?

Having said that, all the previous Ukips I canvassed had gone over to Labour. But that's like, five people in Calderdale.

Anyone remember that night when the Tories had some of their top ministers de-seated? Step up Amber Rudd.

Out! Out! Out!

Labour confident of taking my constituency Northampton North. Was a Tory majority of 3,200 so would be quite a swing. 6,000 UKIP votes (16%).

I'll never forget 1997, Portillos losing his seat being my personal highlight.

Do you mean 1997 when Stephen Twigg beat Portillo in Southgate?
