Kidderminster finished on 93 with us on 95, Had Wrexham of got an equaliser on the last day then Kiddy would of gone us. It would seem they took a huge blow from that and haven't been as competitive since.

A guy on our forum (regular poster who I have no reason to doubt, definitely not one of the billions of trolls infesting Outlaws) has just said that he heard it directly from one of our board members that the club representatives held a vote on an extra promotion place from the Conference at the League 2 AGM this season.

Allegedly, according to said Luton board member, only 2 of the current 24 League 2 teams voted in favour of the extra promotion place - Luton and AFC Wimbledon.

Very disappointing show from some recently promoted clubs if that information is accurate to be honest.

There is no way we should be relegating more teams into a division which is effectively a financial black hole, it'd be the death of more clubs. Until there is a greater deal of financial security to ensure the drop isn't as painful to clubs I don't see the benefit to opening it up further. Sure, it was frustrating being down there with only one automatic spot to aim for, but ultimately I care about York not going bust, increasing the likelihood of us dropping back to a division that almost killed us once and would certainly achieve it this time isn't in our interests.

Not that it will matter, we'll likely go down anyway.

If that is true then I am dissapointed with us. I know in our situation it's a tough one but if we do ever go back down we will be banging on about how it should be 3 up 3 down!

I think it would be a shame if we didn't vote for it. I have continuously said we need to make it 3 up 3 down, it is the only way to improve football across the board.

That it is the league itself that decides whether to give up another spot is stupid in itself, it's like us all voting to offer to increase our council tax or something!

To be fair it will be true, but would you expect the FL to vote for something which would hurt them, its like getting PL clubs to vote on giving others more share of the money.............they won't vote yes for these things.

should be an FA decision really, but well that would mean the FA actually making a decision

No.

The football league should be difficult to get into. It should be disastrous and seem like the end of the world if you drop out of it. We shouldn't be making it easier.

And this is coming from a supporter of a team that will be exiting the football league in a couple of months.

Wouldn't be surprised if my club thought 'hey we've spent 9 years down there and everyone forgot about us so why should we vote in favour?'
Still, personally, I'm very disappointed if what JD posted is true.

Why would someone vote for potentially making it more difficult for their team?
Its why that all of these sort of decisions should be handled by an "ExCo", as it is the Conference rather than given to all members to vote.

Promotion and relegation should be even in all divisions. The four places remain from when L2 was regionalised north and south. In needs to be changed back to 3 up, because the standard gap between L1 and L2 is vast.

Keep it 2 promotion spots, if ex league clubs find it hard to get promoted that's their problem for getting relegated in the first place
