Finally feel like the new consoles are worth buying but can't make up my mind on which one to get.

I adored my 360 but the One originally got a lot of bad press. However, Microsoft seem to have rectified a lot of the problems and it's now going cheaper than a PS4 and has backwards compatibility coming too.

What do the good people on this forum think? Is there really much difference between the two?

Not really. Both are overpriced old-tech. The decision essentially comes down to who you prefer ripping you off, Sony or Microsoft.

Gaming on a PC just feels so unnatural, though.

years of peasentry will do that to you, i guess.

i'd get a ps4 if it were a choice between the two. it's slightly better in terms of hardware and sony generally have the better exclusives.

I've recently 'upgraded' and went the PS4 option purely because I built up a decent list of contacts from playing online on the PS3 so wanted to keep that side of things. It's all down to personal choice really.

I have a ps4, but always wanted that from the start to be fair because of having 2 and 3 but it's all down to who's playing what console and what games interest you most. PS4 also probably has the better exclusive list, at least in my mind :ds:

PC gaming, it's good too but it's not really the same sort of thing, plus you have to fork out more money.

See, that's a problem with me because I've become so used to the Xbox exclusives. I really like Halo and Gears, although admittedly they're becoming a little worn out now - like CoD. The PS4 has Bloodborne but Dark Souls 3 is coming to both platforms so it's not the be-all and end-all. Titanfall looked a lot of fun but it might be a little outdated now, so I'll probably wait for its sequel. Playstation has The Last of Us but I've seen a lot of that game on YouTube, and I've not played the Uncharted series or any of the PS exclusives.

Arghhh, decisions decisions.

I did originally plan on getting the PS4 but with the backwards compatibility and the original issues of the X1 being ironed out, it's now more difficult to decide.

This is a really tempting offer, too. - http://www.amazon.co.uk/b/ref=s9_ac...&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=645283907&pf_rd_i=300703

If you're more of a casual gamer I'd go for the Xbone.

It's a matter of personal taste, init. Personally I wouldn't be interested in playing any of those games other than Ori... maybe. And you might aswell buy Ori for whatever PC/laptop you own since it'd run fine on a toaster and will always be cheaper on PC platform (40% off last week for example).

As one of those twats who owns both, my opinion matters the most.

(FINALLY got to say that. It's been like 6 days FFS)

But yes, as others have said, purely look at the exclusives. Yeah, the PS4 has better tech... the only PS4 game I have is Batman and that does actually look like the best looking console game I've played... though I'm not sure if that's all down to PS4, or partially down to the fact that Batman is just a superb looking game outright.

But still, the exclusives matter more. If you like Halo you can't really go wrong with the XB1... the MCC is a fucking brilliant creation with all of Halo on one disk, and Halo 5 looks set to be fantastic too.

Halo, Gears and Fable are all dog shite.

EB has convinced me to buy a PS4 if I ever feel the need to get a console.

Gaming on PC is just so much better than console. I have The Witcher 3 on my PS4 (I kinda feel pressured to use the thing since my missus got it me for Christmas) but my god the loading times are annoying. Anywhere from 30seconds - 2mins to load. Why didn't they just throw SSD's in these things instead of slug drives?

No, yes and no. Halo is my favourite game ever and Fable 3 is pretty entertaining albeit not the best game. Uncharted isn't very good either which is why I prefer Xbox One.

Go for whatever your friends have, I mostly use my Xbox One to play online and they all have Xbox Ones. I really love my Xbox One, the PS4 looks great but I loved my 360 too so I just made the move up.

I first had an Xbox One, then sold it and went for a PS4. Now I'm back with an Xbox One. They're both better in different ways, graphically you won't tell the difference until you use a magnifying glass, and some games do look better on the Xbox.

The menu system is slicker on the PS4, but has less to it.

The main winner is the online gaming, on the PS4 it was shaky, and lagged too much, Xbox is far superior in that sense. And when Windows 10 comes along, I've heard you can play your Xbox games remotely from your Windows 10 laptop/pc?

Plus backward compatibility on old Xbox 360 games.

For me Xbox wins,

Summed up nicely.

I have had two PS4's and can't get away with it

I'll be getting another PS4 at some point, probably when Uncharted comes out. None of the other exclusives are interesting to me. Xbox has the blockbuster titles IMO.

Very simple for me, but I ask myself two questions:
1) What games will I be playing?
2) Who will I be playing with?

Had a 360 last gen and am planning on buying an Xbone later in the year for the same reasons. I prefer the exclusives on Xbox and my friends are spread reasonably evenly over both consoles that the second question didn't really need any thought.

The PS4 is slightly more powerful, but 99% of the time you won't see a difference, which is why the higher price maybe more reasonable. Games that are on both consoles will generally be made the same so will look identical (not always the case). But as mentioned before, if you're after great graphics or high frame rate then consoles aren't really the place to be looking at as PC's will do that job particularly well.

Still relatively new technology so may be difficult to do initially. Pretty much all of the exclusives can do it, so no reason why the others can't, and probably will in time.

It still is a minimal difference, and is probably reflective of their different prices. But as I said, if framerate and graphics are all you care about you wouldn't be getting a console..

Went for the PS4 in the end. Still might get an X1 in the long-run, it was a tough decision. I'll see how I get on with the Playstation first.

I have Arkham Knight and have also ordered Bloodborne.

I bought an Xbox One today. Halo Master Chief Collection looks amazing, but it's still installing after 10 hours [nearly done now at least] so haven't actually tried online gaming yet. In about an hours time I should be in Halo heaven.

Played it - it is indeed amazing. Bit weird though because Halo 2 was remastered to a really high standard and then Halo 3 seemed to be worse quality. All of the games are incredible regardless of graphics though.

How does the MP work? Does each game have a separate section for MP, or is it a combination of all three?

I adored Halo 3 but every Halo since has been a disappointment for me, so it wasn't enough to tempt me to get an Xbox One for the time being.
