Really hope this isn't true...

Fans groups are saying that it's bollocks, but no word from the club yet.

Can't be true.

Absolutely disgraceful if so.

I sincerely hope that this is bullshit. Crap timing for this to come out on the day of a big game aswell.

I don't understand that at all, he's doing a great job.

The club are releasing a statement shortly. Hopefully to confirm this as a load of bollocks.

If it is a load of bollocks, then what the f*ck is that journo doing? It is a bit telling in the story that he seemingly didn't attempt to get a quote from the club.

Hopefully just fires up the fans for tonight's game.

I can't say I know much about any ongoings at Brentford that might give this news abit of backing but from an outsider looking in it seems madness if there's any truth in this.

Hopeully it's a load of bollocks, what a bizarre event this would be, especially if he gets them up.

There must have been something that made the journalist write the story, he won't just have made it up.

Even if it's not true and it comes from a dodgy source it does run the risk of destabilising Brentford a bit, at least in the short term.

I could imagine the club might meet prospective managers to plan in case Warbs decided to go to a bigger club (Leicester and Newcastle are rumoured to be sniffing around) but there is no way we would remove him from the club at all, he's worked miracles this season and last.

This would sum modern day football up. Don't let money and a higher level of football corrupt what is a good, traditional family football club by getting into this kind of shit.

Macclesfield Town/Manchester City. It's complicated.

That never happens does it.

The Mail's head of sports reporting says he also now has confirmation on the story, beginning to look like this might be true...

Still no statement from the club. :(

The club have issued the following statement:

"The Club is aware of some press speculation about the future of our Manager, Mark Warburton.
Given Mark’s increasing profile within the game, we recognise that he will deservedly have turned the heads of other clubs.
As with every other sensibly run club, we plan for various possible eventualities.
We are a progressive club who do talk to other people within the game to learn about other ways of doing things, and to consider novel strategic approaches to the game.
Those conversations continue internally, and are part of a healthy dialogue.
Football is sometimes called a village, and in any village, gossip and rumours can spread like wildfire, whether or not such rumours are true.
It would not be in the Club’s interests to disclose any of those discussions, but Brentford FC do want to confirm that Mark Warburton remains our manager.
The team’s performance has been magnificent this season and that is primarily down to Mark’s leadership.
Mark will continue to lead the club in its push for Premier League football.
At this critical stage of the season, we don’t propose to make any further statements in relation to these rumours."

This statement has concerned me more than the Times article.

Yeah that statement would worry me if I were a Brentford fan.

The fact the club have not denied it tells it's own story.

At work - any chance you could summarise what he said?

He basically came on (which seems a weird thing to do in the first place) and then didn't really talk about it, just said everything that needed to be said was in the club statement and that was it and then spoke about the team. No idea why he decided to go on really

Sky Sports News would have reported it as "WARBURTON HAS REFUSED TO DISCUSS HIS POSITION AS MANAGER OF BRENTFORD."

Just been on Talksport, seemed very supportive of the club, so I can't imagine it's a case of us wanting him out. What seems more likely is that he has been approached by a PL club, agreed to join them but wanted the rest of the season with us. The club then knows he is going, and is beginning to approach other targets.

Really hope this doesn't destablise us for the rest of the season.
