Are we going to be the first club in 6 seasons to not finish top yet have the top goal scorer?

Both Braintree and Dover in "once in a generation" territory now. Never going to get a better shot at it.

Who have you got?
The refs just seem to get worse. I've seen some shocking displays this season.
Granted some the top flight ones leave a lot to be desired too.

Alan young. Spent 5 minutes of the first half giving players talking to's. 12 yellows I think he ended up with, despite there being only 1 bad challenge in the whole game (late Peniket one). 3 bookings were for diving - not one dive. He made Braintree retake a free kick (not a quick one) because he felt he wasn't in the right position. Just a complete shambles.

Braintree were a good side to be fair. Not a play off side IMO but decent. We played ok, but 2 mistakes led to two goals. We should have had a peno and both sides missed 1 on 1's. Braintree deserved it and we'll move on to the next one.

Oh and Conf South fans: Have the Cowleys always been such bellends?

No idea how we stole a point tonight.... Looked very tired. Credit to Gateshead though, they'll be gutted not to win! First time this season I've seen us out fought all over the pitch really. Hit the bar... Two off the line and a great stop by Dillo in goal only keeping them out.

Still shows how far we've come this year to be disappointed after 22 games unbeaten and a fourth clean sheet in a row. Finally a shout out to the 12 Gateshead fans.

And that is probably it for our season.

Don't be so down, weirder things have happened. Like the season you went mental after getting 5 points from the first 10 games.

An away game to a Wrexham team that move up to 4th - though frankly I'd forgotten they were around the playoffs to be fair - it's a game you can afford to write off (relatively speaking). It's a nothing-to-lose fixture, you've just not gained anything.

You've got 12 left. Let's take a small look in banks of 4 games to see where you can make the ~20+ points (for a total of 44+) you'll need:

Bromley, Braintree, Torquay, Halifax. These 4 games (3 that will actually be played...) should be looking at must-win cases for the last two, take a draw at Bromley and a loss to Braintree and that's 7/12

Lincoln, Woking, Tranmere, Alty. Two sides with nothing to play for most likely by the time you face them, take 4 from those 2 games. Take a loss against Tranmere and a must-win from the Alty game, that's another 7/12.

Welling, Barrow, Dover, Southport. That's a doable run-in. Another must-win game against Welling. A loss against Dover if they are still going for the playoff spot. Barrow and Southport may be sides with nothing to play for so hope for another 4 from those 2 games. 7/12 more and a total of 45 (last season's mark exactly, with GD the factor there).

It's possible. It won't be easy, and it will hinge on the must-win games or making up the points in the expected losses/draws, but it's too early to give up. If these guesses are about right then it's going to look very bleak after 2 more games, but it's the following 2 which will tell you if you have a chance or not.

Atrocious refereeing performance. First half he waa shit for both sides but second and the most stonewall penalty you'll ever see basically cuts Hibbs in half and he books him for diving.

Yellows like confetti for both teams.
Have to agree with you SS just about the worst ref at Cressing rd for a long time, and we have had some numpties this season.
Overall it was the right result and our play off dreams are still alive. COYI

Yeah, if you have a look at my post from the end of the game it pretty much says the same.

Just disappointing really, you were the better team first half and it was breaking in to a good game of football before the ref really grabbed centre stage.

Good luck in the play off hunt!

And hanging on. Robbery on the road like ye olde highwaymen.
Never was a phrase more apt, you really didn't deserve that at all.
Absolutely gutted, a draw would have flattered FGR but to sneak all three is beyond the pale!
Your boys just seemed totally off the pace tonight for whatever reason yet Guiseley were well up for it despite the energy sapping mud bath at Alty on Saturday.
Great game despite the result

Lowest gate of the season by a long way tonight but the stayaways missed a decent game.

It was a bit of a strange game really as although Woking didn't play too badly we could have scored 6 or 7 and they could have been down to 9 men before half time. Nice early goal to settle us and then the ref missed a blatant handball on the line a minute before Woking equalised. Great to score almost immediately after though and Amonds 2nd goal (our 3rd) was worth the admission fee alone. Amond was also clearly pulled back when he would have been clean through on goal, another bizarre non-decision by the referee. All 3 officials were poor tonight especially the lino on the far side, who seemed to be making the rules up as he went along.

As I said earlier, I didn't think Woking played too badly at all and they all definitely put a decent shift in but obviously tired towards the end. Finally a mention for the 10 Woking fans there, respect to each and every one of them.

Really is getting ridiculous all these late FGR goals. We sounded awful and lucky to get a point but the quorn munchers stealing another late win makes it so much worse.

They all really need to start wearing Diego Costa style masks if tonights performance is anything to go by. More fool us for not putting any of our many chances away.
On a more positive note, I met some great fans from FGR, it was a pleasure chatting. Non league at its best :)

That has to be about 7 or 8 late (75+ minutes) winners/equalisers in the last 10 matches or so for FGR?

You haven't done bad on that front either, I don't think?

Just scanning through our results I think we've had 6 late winners and 2 late equalisers this season so not too badly. But FGR have done it in 5 of their last 6 games which is incredible but also very frustrating for us!

They've now got Barrow A, Grimsby H, Gateshead A and Tranmere A, four of their toughest remaining games - could really do with them dropping 4+ points from these. .

Oh my God, who cares about Forest Green's late winners. There's nothing we can do about it. It's still in our hands and that was our first poor performance for ages. I swear some Town fans are more concerned by FGR's results than our own.

As for last night, we were lethargic all over the pitch, Cranston doesn't hold a candle to George McLennan at left-back, the atmosphere at the ground was worse than shocking, but we're still top and it's still up to us to determine who goes up at the end of the season. A weekend off is just what the players need I think.

Well done Gateshead on having a game-plan and it working.

Kiddy had a season of lots of late goals under Burr I think?

Cannot believe I'm saying this after their two garbage performances against us, but Braintree are holding all the aces, surely. They just keep getting it done.

Will go horribly wrong when they run into FGR/Grimsby in May though.
Possibly, but at the moment they've only lost one game all season against sides in the current top eight.

I think there are two certainties at Grimsby tonight. The first is that Grimsby will score at least three. The second is that, even if our injury crisis is so bad that we only have eleven fit players, we will play with ten men rather than start with Godfrey Poku.
What's wrong with Geoffrey Poku. He was very good at Telford?

Played well first half but kiddie were awful!
2nd half we sat back a bit and Kiddie improved tbh. But it was a bit flat. Comfortable win that we needed points on the board. With our run in we need a some great wins, playing a few of the better teams. 3 wins in a row(against poor teams though)

I actually feel for Guiseley. When I was checking Twitter updates they sounded like they were playing brilliantly. Would have been a great result for yourselves had you got it.

Yeah the season before we finished second we had a run like FGR's of winning games when losing at the 80th minute.

Thank you Steve, I was one of the away fans who met you and your 'lion' last night and I can assure all that Nethermoor is one of the nicest grounds to visit with probably the friendliest bunch of supporters anywhere. A really enjoyable experience.
Yes Guiseley should have won game but your fans were absolutely okay with the FGR supporters and dozens wished us well for rest of season, as we reciprocate and wish well for Guiseley.
As for the game it was one of the most exciting I've watched all season. Both goalkeepers were made to work and both rose to the challenge.
