It's been a record-breaking transfer window full of crazy signings, but which teams made the best signings? Just to clarify, I've chosen these signing based on how good a player they are/their potential, and also their importance to the team and their value for money. So the likes of Raheem Sterling and Christian Benteke don't make this list because they were (in my and other people's opinions) overpriced. Other players such as Depay and De Bruyne miss out on the top ten because they were improvements to a position, rather than necessary players. And others, such as Son to Tottenham, miss out because I don't reckon they'll do very well in the EPL.
(note: the window isn't over yet so there are still some signings to be made)
Honourable mentions:
Adama Traore, Barcelona-Villa, £7m
Connor Wickham, Sunderland-Palace, £7m
Robbie Brady, Hull-Norwich, £7m
Virgil Van Dijk, Celtic-Southampton, £11.5m
Kevin De Bruyne, Wolfsburg-Man.City, £55m
Roberto Firmino, Hoffenheim-Liverpool, £29m
Nathaniel Clyne, Southhampton-Liverpool, £12.5m
10) Nicolas Otamendi, Valencia-Man.City, £32m:
Mangala was shocking last season so City did need to spend big on a quality CB- signing Ottamendi from under United's nose was a great bit of business by Pelligrini, and with the Argentine shoring up their defence I reckon City have a good chance of reclaiming the title from Chelsea.
9) Bakary Sako, Wolves-Crystal Palace, £Free:
Sako has had a brilliant start to life at Palace and is one of Palace's standout signings (which is saying something, considering the number of player's they've brought in). Palace have a very strong squad now, but Sako can add the goals and quality required to push them further up the table, perhaps into the top ten.
8) Georginio Wijnaldum, PSV-Newcastle, £14.5m:
Newcastle are another team who will struggle this year, but Wijnaldum could make the difference for them. Certainly Newcastle's best signing since they brought in Sissoko, he and the Frenchman will hopefully make up for Newcastle's lack of quality elsewhere and if he performs at his best then I can't see him staying at Newcastle for long.
7) Petr Cech, Chelsea-Arsenal, £10m:
Cech is still a quality keeper and an excellent signing for Arsenal, who were really missing a quality player between the sticks (though personally Ospina was brilliant last season and is unlucky to be dropped). I don't see Arsenal competing for the title, but Cech can certainly shore them up at the back.
6) Yohan Cabaye, PSG-Crystal Palace, £10m:
At just £10m Cabaye is Palace's best bit of business and certainly one of the EPL's most surprising signings. Pardrew knows better than most what he is capable of, and the quality he will bring to Palace this year will see them shoot up the table.
5) Andre Ayew, Marseille-Swansea, £Free:
For free this man is an absolute bargain- he's already off to a quick start, and alongside a reinvented Gomis he can really cause the best teams some problems (as Manchester United found out). Swansea look impressive this year and will certainly be within the top ten, and Ayew will play a large part in their success this season.
4) Matteo Darmian, Torino-Man.Utd, £12.7m:
Darmian is a very impressive player and at just under £13m he is also a bargain- he can really shore up United's defence, and can provide the quality that Rafael could never quite deliver. He'll be key to United's hopes this season- if he proves to be a success then United are within a good chance of getting perhaps second (they won't win the league), adding much needed quality to a defence full of errors.
3) Dmitri Payet, Marseille-West Ham, £10m:
How West Ham signed this man is beyond me- it's reminiscent of when they signed Tevez and Mascherano. He's made more chances than any other player in Europe last season, and yet he cost just £10m- one of Europe's most underrated players, and with his quality West Ham may be able to top their brilliant work last season.
2) Morgan Schneiderlin, Southampton-Man.Utd, £25m:
The most expensive signing on this list, Schneiderlin was key for Southampton last season and this year he'll be key to Van Gaal and United's ambitions. He's already proven his quality, and with the Frenchman shoring up the midfield United may have just enough stability to overtake City/Chelsea and Arsenal to leapfrog into second (again, they won't be finishing 1st, which for me is between City and Chelsea).
1) Pedro, Barcelona-Chelsea, £21m:
As much as I dislike saying it, Jose has once again made a quality signing (and, once again, from under a rivals nose). There is no way that Costa can emulate his form from last season, so support for him was desperately needed- and Pedro looks an absolute perfect fit for the job. Under the shadow of so many great players at Barcelona, I reckon Pedro can follow the same path as Sanchez and really flourish in the EPL, as one of Chelsea's best players. Pedro will also take some pressure of Hazard and will add depth to Chelsea's attack.
