Unashamedly nicked from the L2 forum, who gets your vote as the best 10 players currently playing in the Conference?

In no particular order:

John Akinde
Luisma Villa
Carl Magney
Manny Smith
Scott Rendell
Luke Young
Jared Hodgekiss
Chris Lines
Jon Parkin
Ellis Harrison

Special mention to Ricky Modeste :2thumb:

Notable absenses: Simeon Akinola, Josh Payne, Louis Moult, Andy Monkhouse.

I've probably forgotten a hell of a lot of players here and grossly over/underrated some, but there you go. Will be interesting to see your opinions!

Elliot Harrison? Is there actually a player called that or do you mean our Ellis Harrison?

If you mean ours, I wouldn't personally have him, although Tom Parked and Lee Brown deserve a shout (England c too)

Shame Chris Iwelumo retired earlier this season. Pacey and powerful...he would have topped the list. :animatedf:

That's the one. I think he's a real decent player to be fair to him. Rumours of a bad attitude from your fans last season I think(?), but he's certainly stepped up this one, from what little I've seen and read about him.

Only one player of ours deserves a mention... Marc Roberts.

We've had a pretty good defensive record this season and he's at the core of that. Captained England C and will probably go League 1 next season, with rumours of possibly championship clubs.

Didn't even consider him, good shout.

What about Peniket? Impressed me when I saw him play, and I've heard good things from your fans this season? He made the initial list.

Hodgkiss is definitely the only player of ours that can be considered

Never, when Halifax came to ours he dived at least 4 times in the first half alone

Glad you put Manny Smith in there, best CB in non-league in my opinion and I rarely praise many of our players that highly. Moult is also very very good, 22 or 23 goals for us this season, around 17 in the league I think. Shame Wilkin benched him for half the season, would of been 20+ league goals easy

Dived?

I think you're thinking of a different player haha

Been very good for us, if a little inconsistent. Just don't think he's good enough to warrant being in a Top 10

Come on lads, lets see your lists!

Another one that made the initial list, but couldn't justify dropping any of those 10 for him unfortunately.

The only player from us worthy of a mention in this thread would be Bradley Wood. What about Brett Williams?

I think we've been linked with him before actually, how old is he? And what's his position?

I liked Andi Thanoj last season, and not Dan Bradley?

Williams was another that made the initial list but I couldn't drop anyone for him. Too inconsistent.

24 and CB, very tall and great in the air. Huge long throw as well.

He switches off occasionally but that has improved and his distribution's pretty cack.

Nah Thanoj and Bradley are good players on their day but are nowhere near consistent enough

An impressive 39 goals for Brett Williams in the past two seasons.

Glad my post amused you guys.

noticeably it amused the Woking fans when talking about a Aldershot player.

On his day Woody is one of the best defenders in this league. He was immense against Southport

To be fair, Williams has been completely ordinary this season so he's nowhere near the top ten.

He's a poor man's Craig Hobson.

Your post amused me simply because of your last comment. Brett Williams is talented, but his attitude is disgraceful and I would hope that even the Aldershot fans are beginning to see that too.

He did nothing against you on Saturday (then again barely anyone did anything from either side) but I would hardly say Williams has been ordinary this season, he has scored 15 goals in a team 18th in the division that have only scored 50 goals in total, which suggests he has not been our problem this season. In fact I voted him player of the season and have no shame in doing so as I do believe he has been the best of a bad bunch.

Is he one of the top 10 players in the conference this season? No, but has he been better than "completely ordinary" as you suggest.

Good eye but he's no way earnt a shout this season. He sustained a bad injury at Altrincham recently too and may take several months to recover. But it's defo a good spot as he's been improving throughout the year, and now looks like a 22-year-old with a lot ahead of him. The systems we were playing were beginning to suit him too and he did score a few. If he makes a full recovery and we keep him then I have high hopes, and he'd be among the first on my retained list regardless.

How many were penalties?

He's only good when a) playing against Woking and b) playing on TV.

Only 3 I think, against Telford, FGR and Bristol Rovers, all in the first 2 months of the season. Not that it matters as contrary to what some people believe penalties do actually count!

And thats not true, his best performance was (in my opinion) at home to Grimsby, where neither of you're above statements apply.

Was it you that said Williams wouldnt get anywhere near 15 goals in pre-season? I know one of your fans said something like that but cant remember who.
