Top two is open to about ten teams in my opinion plus the "wild card" that comes through from mid table. It's exciting. We could finish first or down to tenth.

I'm bloody delighted for Burton, almost gives me hope.
To be honest and not just from a selfish angle I think it would be great for English football if Albion go up, in a similar way I hope Leicester win the Premier league.

The new TV deal next season may well be a game changer for smaller clubs. I did hear somewhere that Championship clubs will get between 6-8 million per season from next season. I think our wage budget is less than 1.5 now. So should the unthinkable happen, it may be perfectly timed.

Didn't do Yeovil any favours having one season in the Championship.

Be careful what you wish for.

It's a terrible, terrible league but even then I wouldn't have expected Burton to be near the top, never mind leading the pack. Christ knows how we beat them earlier this season. I'm glad they're top though, along with Walsall and Gillingham. It shows that a solid, settled team and (in Gillingham's/Burton's case) a carefully chosen manager are far more influential than resources and crowd sizes. I wish our fcuking club would realise that.

We've spent about 80 seasons in the second tier.

It's fucking terrible btw.

Does anyone have the time to a compile a 'record against the top 10' for the top 10 placed teams in the league at the moment?

Fairly sure it's nearly time for JJ1532 famous Promotion/Relegation threads to get up and running?!?!

P9 W5 D4 L1

I'd like to mention that 3 of ours wins were against Burton, Gillingham and Coventry (1st, 3rd and 4th) whilst our only defeat came to Bury (10th).

We usually seem to have a record against the better sides at the top. Strange.

Nearly. I usually roll them out around the half way/new year point. After the games on the 2nd January is probably the best time.

Because I'm bored on Christmas Eve, here are the current top 10 records for those teams in the top 10:

C/Pos is current position in the table, whilst T10 is where they sit with their record against the teams in the top 10.

Now, before anyone complains, I do know that this table doesn't actually really tell us a whole lot. For example, Posh lost a number of their games against the top 10 sides before Westley came in. I also realise that some of these teams lost big games against fellow top 10 teams when they were missing key players for various reasons or had a man sent off, or got screwed by ref, or played well but lost undeservedly etc etc. So having a poor top 10 record doesn't mean said team is poor and won't go up. But, now that they are up there, they will need to improve on their poor record.

What I will say is that Walsall have raised their performance levels consistently in the bigger games, as have Bury. Wigan look to be the biggest pretenders in the top 10, as they have consistently come up short against their promotion rivals.

Hmm, interesting. The top 5 in that table, 4 of them are in the top 4.

That's not correct, our results are
Walsall A 0-2
Bury A 0-1
Gillingham A 3-0
Coventry H 1-2
Southend H 1-0
Sheff Utd H 0-0
Wigan A 1-0
Bradford n/a
P;boro H 2-1
Which gives P8 W 4 D 1 L 3 F8 A 6 PTS 13

Who ? oh "the sheep" different county mate, we are in Staffordshire, we are famous for brewing beer and they are famous for interfering with sheep !
On a more serious note there are some who support both clubs but "we hate d***y" is sometimes sung at Albion. True Brewers hate sheep !

Didn't mean to upset the true Burton lads but I have been told that abit of the support there is when Derby aren't playing at home??
