Bloody hell, I take Adamstag's point that those 4 seasons on their own are pretty pointless. However, take that table across my entire lifetime (26 years) and we are 14th!! Out of 112, we are 14th over the last 26 years.
Even more astounding is the fact that since we joined in 1921 we are ranked 20th overall out of 130 clubs. Pretty shocked at that to be honest.

Expecting us to just not notice who's top in your table?
:fish:

Sort it by Points per game though (or something very like points per game), which is what really matters, and they only come 5th
Give them their due - 5th on points per win (0.5 per draw) behind Leeds, Liverpool, Arsenal and U's :emb: is still pretty impressive.

Yeah, I sorted us on points per game between 1998 (getting relegated from the old Div 2) and 2004 (relegation from the old Div 3 finally confirmed) and as I fully expected we came rock bottom... most non-Cumbrians I know still remember us from that period, there was one season where we finished 17th or something but that has been conveniently forgotten and people just remember us escaping relegation in the last one or two games pretty much every single year, including the first escape involving Jimmy Glass and the final escape at Shrewsbury before ultimate relegation). I still get comments every now and then 'oh Carlisle United... do you still finish third from bottom in League Two every year?' People do seem to think that 22nd in League Two is like our allocated position that we must take up every single May. A few people remember us going down to the Conference and wonder if we ever came back, or are we still down there, and very few fans of the top two divisions know that we ever played in League One.

I vaguely remember some of the players from the days leading up to Division 1 - mainly because your kit (blue shirts & shorts, white socks) was the same as Barrow's for a while so (along with Chelsea and Shrewsbury) you occasionally got an outing in my Subbuteo League. Hugh McIlmoyle and Frank Sharp?

Weren't you the only team in Division 1 without a reserve side, or is that my memory going haywire?
