If Chelsea swap to a 3-5-2, this could be the line up, looks really good. Although, I'm sure Hazard would play before the striker or striker and Conte would replace him with a more defensive player like Alonso or Azpi.

Us signing Pogba has really blown your mind hasn't it

Real Madrid definitely weren't in a position to spend that sort of money this summer (not without selling a few players anyway) and Barcelona were too slow. It was always between us and Madrid anyway, Barca are too small time.

Ronaldo couldn't cope if he was only the third most expensive player in a squad and Barcelona don't need Pogba. They don't get rid of their best prospects only to then send £100m and a 'Miss You' card a few years later.

Moshiri claiming Everton backed out of the Sissoko purchase out of loyalty to McCarthy.

Isn't it then fortunate Spurs were there to offer £5m more.

So Barca or Real couldn't afford to pay £90 mill on a player if they wanted to? Really JimJams, really?
Not in this window no.
It's been pretty well documented about Barca having to tighten the purse strings thanks to the enormous wages they already pay out to their biggest stars, it's why other clubs have tried their hand at signing Neymar, because their financial situation means it's worth an enquiry. Why do you think Barcas biggest signing this summer was one of their buybacks?
Barca even openly admitted they couldn't afford to compete for his signature not only citing his fee but his wage demands.
As for Real it's a similar situation with them looking to renew current contracts. They needed to sell to buy at that price.
Another fact you and 'our learned friend' G-Dragon are obviously overlooking is that Real have an impending transfer embargo on the cards which means they need to get numbers in, not just blow their wad on a single player when they will likely miss out on being able to do business in up to 3 windows.

I think even a dumb Ronaldo knows about the inflation on the transfer market and his transfer fee was already high enough back then when he came to Real. He knows his value and Bale and especially Pogba are "not in the same street as CR7" (and that from me who can't stand this guy )

btw: Although the transfer window is now closed for a while, the clubs still can hire players without a club actually. What about "Lord" Bendtner, he's still available Arsenal?

Caceres is one that I'm surprised nobody at all has shown an interest in. His injury record ain't great, but pay as you play is an option.

I'd have thought Hull or someone would take a punt on Sessegnon.

They did need Pogba, but couldn't compete with us for him so had to settle for Andre Gomes.

And Barcelona regularly get rid of their best prospects only to then resign them a few years later.

I'm disappointed in Pogba if that's what you mean choosing money and the Europa League over Messi et al but so be it, the way he's acting he's looking to become a right bellend.

Shown yourself up there though calling Barca small time though mucker, tut tut.

This alone makes that about Barca bollocks.

So you'll just ignore Barcas president saying they couldn't compete with Man utd then cos they got a kit deal.

Yes as he's saying that for effect to the supporters to make it look the overrated deal it is and that they could do better business elsewhere which they've done.

So the press says they can't afford him, the president says they cant afford him, Balague has said the same yet you disagree and it's said to appease fans. "We can't afford a player" appeases fans.

Barcelona are small time compared to Manchester United and Real Madrid, I'm sure you'll agree.

And Pogba has too much of an ego and is too big of a star to agree to join Barcelona and be in Lionel "Beach Blonde" Messi's shadow, I think Mourinho said it best: "If you want to be the best player in the world if you go to Barcelona or Real Madrid you are in trouble because I don’t think the other two big guys [Ronaldo and Messi] will let you"

I don't think you understand. They have a new kit deal.
Unlike any other business ever Barcelona had no idea that a new kit deal was due and actually forgot they received any income at all for kit deals. Therefore this £120m a year is totally unexpected and they haven't built it into any budget, so it would surely have been there to sign one player.
Also their stadium holds 90000. Never been to Barcelona but if we assume average tickets cost £1,000 then 90,000 * 1,000 is 90 million or Pogba's transfer fee, COINCIDENCE? I think not.

So we're assuming their players play for free then?

Basically, the league's got a lot stronger this season and we've not strengthened, just replaced outgoings when we were in a good position to push on further if we showed a little ambition.

If you're a Stoke fan now, I'd have been happy with Bony taking over the Pelle role in our squad, but we're going to face Inter Milan with two of Austin, Rodriguez, Long or Redmond leading the line.
Don't worry, Inter Milan players aren't as good as the players you mentioned.

Barcelona had first dibs on Pogba as well by all accounts, but didn't think he was worth the money Juve were asking.
If this is true then Barcelona have earned my respect for 2 seconds.

Is this directed at me? If so, no. I assumed their week one attendances would pay their wage bill (which I assumed would be 90 million). I then used the week two attendances to cover the Pogba fee. Appreciate your scrutiny but fairly sure this maths is bang on and also exactly how football clubs work.

The Liverpool supporter has a point. First time I've ever said that.

Madrid would need to have balanced the books before bringing Pogba in. Simple as.

They already have top midfielders in Kroos, Modric, Casemiro, Kovacic & Isco can be used there also. Manchester United is the perfect club for his development. He can become our main man, lead us to titles & perhaps challenge for the Ballon d'Or in the future.

I agree that Madrid have too many options there (better as well) that they don't need him; but if you think Mourinho is the man to get the best out of Pogba I think you are going to be disappointed.

I don't have a dog in this fight but I genuinely couldn't name a team in the world that Pogba wouldn't start in. The value of the deal might be up for question but I can't really buy the quality point.

He hit so many heights and won the league what once was it? And no CL either as Mou utterly flopped and Ronaldo wouldn't speak to him in the end.

How is that at all relevant to the point at hand. The issue here is Ronaldo vis a vis the idea that Pogba will fail because Mourinho stifles attacking players which is demonstrably not always true as seen by the three seasons Jose had at real where Ronaldo scored more in a single period than he ever had and has done since.
