I'm going to assume with Waide that this isn't down to performance issues.

To say he has a "personality" is an understatement.

Strange one Fairhurst, bags of ability but doesn't seem to be making full use of it.

I can't fathom why we haven't offered him anything, he was great last season and really seems to enjoy it at Macc and it shows in his game. Our Achilles heel last season though was not scoring enough goals so despite his 12 or so and about 8/9 assists maybe Askey is just looking to completely revamp the front line. I'd be more than happy to see him in a blue shirt again next season though, a very good player at this level.

I think he only scored 9 league goals and he's not much use as a target man so I can see why Askey wants to replace him. I agree though, he was much better than MBH and MLM so was most deserving of a new contract of the out and out strikers. I agree with the Lincoln fans though, I don't think its purely based on footballing reasons.

Waide is a real character and very likeable, but there were strong (well sourced ) rumours that John and he had a run in which led to his place on the bench for a few games at the back end of the season, and then his rather daft sending off when in complete control at Halifax seemed to be a bit of 'a nail in the coffin' for him!!

I can still remember John's face as he trudged off and it didn't exactly say hard luck buddy to him :ffs: .

That's been mooted in the local papers for the last few weeks

Gods Gift appears to be the fountain of all Grimsby knowledge at the moment, anything?

Bird confirms he's spoken to us but he's keeping his options open. He's got a decent record and he's a good height too.

He says he was happy with us, but wants to move nearer to his house in Barnsley to be nearer to his mother, who is unwell, Doubt that signing for Grimsby will achieve that. We will be due a fee for him as he is under 24 and we have offered him an improved contract.

You had him for a season, you'll be lucky to get 2-3k

Ah damn, I'm starting to think we were diddled paying a similar tribunal fee for an industrial cleaner in the Evo-Stik North.

No idea other than you're speaking to both Bird and James.

Bird has confirmed himself that he has held talks with us but he is waiting if anything progresses from the enquiry's from the league teams.

There was another part in the telegraph saying 'Meanwhile, it is understood that Town are currently in negotiations with another new player and, if all goes well, hope to make an announcement shortly after the weekend.'

Could that other player be Kingsley James then I wonder?

According to our forum we are set to sign 4 players on Monday. Two played in the conference last season and one has over 300 appearances in the FL. Also no players are from Redditch which is a shock.

Come on now .... a wealthy club like you can afford more than that. He IS an international you know.

We won't be held to ransom by clubs who have it in there heads we're suddenly wealthy. The tribunal fee is based on your contribution towards his development and considering he's spent most of his time developing in the FL I doubt they'd deem you as great contributors.

My money's on the two clubs either agreeing a nominal fee or Fenty happily going to tribunal, he's taken the risk before.

That's hard luck for Grimsby and Halifax. He's probably the most overrated player in the league.

Non league clubs who raise £50,000+ in a week through an off the cuff crowd funder scheme aren't classed as wealthy, sad times.

Mid table looms then. That's what we did, hardly touched our play off team and complacency kicked in
