I forgot all about Akinde (pen)s. Worst one was in League 2 when plucky sustainable Grimsby hosted Lincoln in August who were throwing the kitchen sink at promotion. We dominated the match anyway. Neat trianglular passing from our ragtag lineup assembled for less than the wage of Akinde (9k p/w) was carving up the promotion favourites. Winning the midfield battle too. Solid at the back and we took the lead thanks to a smart finish from Martyn Woolford. However in the second half Akinde fouls Danny Collins in the box by backing into him. "Hang on, was that an attempt to win a pen?!" Guffawed the Mariners faithful. It was and it was scandalously given. Of course he steps up and rolls it into the back of the net. And of course, because it was after the Cowleys invented football it was one of the few times Lincoln actually managed to sell out our away end. Quisling rats.

Akinde missed a penalty against us for Lincoln, was extremely funny. Rolled it very slowly right against the post.

I remember Bignot’s first game in charge of us at home to Barnet and were coasting at 2-0 up and then the ref gives them 2 pens and Akinde just walks up to then and rolls them in slow motion into the bottom corner.
The ref then decided to give us a pen in injury time when Gowling chucked himself to the floor and so Bogle gets the chance of a hat trick goes and balloons it high and wide.

God, I remember that one too. We were absolutely spanking them before we got Akinde (pen)'d. For about an hour I was convinced Marcus Bignot was a genius and we were gonna romp our way into the automatic spots.

I really hope we sign all 3 of Furman, Akpan and Jones. All 3 looked different class on the ball and Jones looks like he’s got plenty of gas left in the tank. If we’ve got midfielders like Young, Davies and those 3 you can easily adopt a seamless rotation policy

Kairo Mitchell from Chesterfield being linked by our local paper.

Although, worth mentioning that we haven’t ended up signing a single player that they’ve said we’re speaking to this summer. Seems to fit what we’re looking for perfectly, mind.

Someone's posted on our message board that Rooney may be going to Bolton, can't see it myself but watch this space.

He’d be found out big time in League One I reckon.

He's nowhere near good enough for League One. If we went up to League Two, I'd be doubtful he'd be a starter.

He scores some absolute quality goals and chips in very well but his overall game isn't great. He's good down here and gets a bit of unnecessary stick from our fans considering his goal record but if they offered us good money, he's late twenties, we'd take it all day long.

Is he under contract or was he a short term deal and released?

Under contract, looks like he’s barely played since signing for them from King’s Lynn. Presumably someone we’ve been looking at since he was with them.

I know our kid fans are all demanding a Tshimanga, but I’m expecting someone of this kind of profile. We’d be mad to split up the Wootton/Rodrigues partnership, but just need someone who can offer a genuine alternative as an out and out striker, ideally young enough for us to improve and develop.

Played primarily as a (very) lone striker for us and certainly can't fault his commitment but very difficult to compare his situation with us with the role he would have with yourselves. Was a bit greedy when he first arrived and seemed to want to prove he was good enough but then settled down. Didn't seem to really do much with Chesterfield and not surprised they are trying to move him on, question would be whether he would be happy bench warming with you but I guess if the price is right?

We’re really looking for someone who can offer what Wootton does for us if he’s not available - hold the ball up, lead the line, link play, that kind of thing. Ideally while being someone young that Burchnall can work with and improve at the same time.

Managed around 1 in 3 with you which is pretty decent, I'd take that as a second string striker.

Quote from the Nottingham Post “on their list of potential targets” In my opinion that sounds like Mitchell isn’t the player who Burchnall was hinting/talking about yesterday who is signing this week!

Are you lot gonna be trying to sign Jeff King in 6 months or so?

In regards to Mitchell, Rowe preferred 49-year-old Tyson to him. Draw your own conclusions....

Yep, next time Rowe decides he wants a new toy we’ll scoop up the collateral damage. ;)

Bradford fans on Twitter really are a bunch of mongs, they seem to think that all Grimsby fans are sat at home crying because the Vernam rumours look like being fake which most of us expected anyway.
Very weird fan base.

Sounds like they'd be a good fit down here. Fingers crossed!

Yeah, sorry about that. But look at all the fun you've been able to have down here. Just think, you'd never have had the pleasure of B2TF if it wasn't for us.

Apparently Nathan Cameron is signed according to someone in the know on our forum. What's he like? He looks like a bit of a unit from some of the friendlies.

Would he put Wootton under genuine pressure for his place?

It’s a no from me Simon.
