We are debt free, still sell players when good bids come in! You can't really stand in the way of players when league clubs come knocking. Well you can, but should you?
Point taken. I meant that we don't necessarily need to sell to the first bid that comes in anymore. We're now in a better position to negotiate and with a former agent as owner, we'll hopefully be better at it too. With Fane, he's a solid player but I think maybe he lacks the technical ability to go up to the levels being rumoured. His strength and stamina are his main attributes, and while he's okay with the ball at his feet, I would suspect he would struggle much beyond League 2. The main thing is he's contracted along with Elton, so at least we can get a fee for them if teams are interested!

We're rumoured on our very reliable forum to be signing Nathan Blissett from Torquay. Doesn't exactly excite me if it is true as he always looks a really awkward striker. Maybe Torquay, Lincoln & also maybe any Bristol Rovers fans that might still be around, can say more about him?

his movement was good against us in the next to last game and he scored a good goal - much better effort in a game that meant little that the Wrexham strikers in the last match of the season - and has more pace than Connor Jennings, not that that's saying much

Lets just say Bristol Rovers paid far too much for him in buying him for 75k after one good performance against them. He's not really that great with the ball at his feet but can win a header

Jennings is more of a midfielder for us now, he's too wasteful in front of goal but he has a great engine and is good with a tackle

That's what I've always seen with him too, always looks like he struggles to control the ball but is a big threat in the air (as he should be with his height).

He's a funny player but Kevin Nicholson really wanted him here and seemed to get the best out of him. He got 8 in 17 for us, which you can't knock. I can see why he's not universally popular as I think when he's low on form and confidence, and not getting any rhythm, he'd just look awkward and out of place, so the manager needs to understand him and back him. We'd really miss him if he left I think.

Like a lot of strikers at Lincoln who come in on loan, Blissett didn't shine at all. It's hard coming on for a few minutes here and there but I doubt many other imps would say anything complimentary about him. Bristol Rovers were very happy when he came to us!

Was very unimpressed when he came to Lincoln, came on a few times when we were chasing a goal and he made no effort at all to chase down defenders or lose balls, was awkward on the ball, slow and didn't look like he cared. When he left I was surprised Torquay took him, thought he looked a below average national league north/south player. Seems to have improved at Torquay though.

James Bolton rumoured to be going to Gateshead.

Really rate him and at 22 has plenty of time to get an awful lot better.

Expect him to go, but the compensation will be decent as he's been here 2 full seasons and some time on loan. During that time he's got an England C cap and become a regular.

Blissett is the complete opposite of what you'd associate with a Mills player. He'll thrive on long balls, crosses etc. i.e. the things that Mills doesn't want/like his team to do.

I didn't see him play here, but by all accounts he was poor although admittedly he had come off the back of very few games and was being compared to Rhead.

He showed after a good run of games that he'll score a few but I'm not sure whether a) he'd replicate his Torquay form over the season or b) he'd get the run of games at Wrexham he'd need to make a difference.

Mills completely changed his tactics for the final third of the season, which coincidentally saw our form pick up. That is exactly the kind of game we started playing.

Unsure if he'll be reverting back to his tried and tested next season, or if we'll remain cloggers.

I'd like to see us play our Samba style at home and clogging hoof ball away. Mix it up.

At Gateshead he changed tactics in the 2nd season too. He started playing long diagonals from the fullback to a big striker (Rankine) standing on the touchline who then headed it down. It briefly worked, but then got all too predictable and he reverted back to the passing/possession game.

He has two big flaws: 1. He's poor at recruitment (a bit like a kid in a sweet shop frantically grabbing at anything even the mints), 2. He believes his on hype too much and consequently starts doing daft things like taking the players to the pub too much on away trips and setting up training around his times, subsequently the players then seem to lose respect for him with performances going down the toilet meaning he has to rip it up and get a new set of players in.

However, he's the only manager to ever take Gateshead to Wembley, so a flawed genius.

You'll probably get what we got out of you for James. Similar profiles, Bolton's been with you a season longer but that also earned him a relegation on his CV.

Choosing mints over actual sweets is a crime in itself.

I know what you mean though, he maybe acted a little too quickly last season in his transfer dealings. He has at least 15 players more to sign though until we have a 'squad' so lets hope he gets it right...

Blissett was pretty poor for us earlier this season. Certainly wouldn't want him back, put it that way.

Rumour on our forum that we're signing Johnny Hunt from Chester (LB/Midfielder apparently). Any thoughts? Is this likely?

If you have ambitions for promotion then Hunt isn't good enough.

He's the definition of average.

Fair to say I'll be made up if that happens as I'm the chief moaner about Hunt over here.

Started well last season but went downhill. Some tolerate him because he is a hard worker in fairness.

Rarely terrible, but never particularly good.

He's a scouser. That'll be literally the only reason Brabin wants to sign him.

When we signed Bliss I thought what a good signing after seeing him play against us the week before. As soon as I saw him in Rovers colours I knew it was a mistake.

Matt Robinson - on loan to us last season from Luton, but now a free agent. Decent, solid, hard-working central midfielder, but not exactly top quality.
He doesn't look the brightest spark.
