Bailry Wright from PNE and ex Toon defender Steven Taylor is on trial.
Where'd you read the latter? Haven't heard that and wouldn't be impressed.

Taylor is a solid defender excluding his injuries. If he can ever get back to his prime he would be an excellent signing for anyone in this division or the Prem.

Not being funny Tom but he's just had his contract terminated at an MLS side and has had his career badly disrupted by injury in recent years.

Why take another gamble on him like we did on Ekstrand? Look how that one has turned out. There's no need, just go and buy a proper set of full backs.

I think saying "preparing for league 1" is a bit harsh? With all the salary cap stuff over there it might not be because he played badly?

He was brilliant for Newcastle for many many seasons. Injuries definitely caught up with him but he'd been called up to England squads in the past, though he never made it on to the pitch.

He'd be an automatic starter for you for sure.

Portland Timbers fans described him as "shaky". He's clearly not as good as he once may have been hence I don't want him here as he's not going to get any better.

Even if he's not as good as he once was that might still mean he's better than Flint who you seem totally blinded by. Experienced head in to help the team it could be worth a look.

He'd play at full back anyway, nothing to do with Flint. If one centre back would be dropped it'd be Magnusson and he wouldn't be dropped for a 30 year old.

Flint is not this great defender people make out, he is at fault for a lot of the goals conceded

Appears we've signed Callum McManaman.

Didn't you say the Blackburn game a couple of months back was your first game in 5 years? Who are you to judge Flint's performances? He was absolutely outstanding yesterday, lost count the amount of times he was left to clear up everyone's mess.

That, very much a flat track bully, he reminds me of Reda Johnson without the vitamin deficiency
He just isn't that at all, he's our most consistent performer by a mile and has barely put a foot wrong since the Derby game.

McManaman is a quality signing, about fucking time you signed a winger with some pace.

Nothing against Flint personally at all merely pointing out that J is writing someone off who he's not seen for ages and his instant reaction is a negative one as always. It's always extremes with him.

No offence J. ;)

I was obviously being flippant but I would be underwhelmed if we signed him.

Taylor is shit to be fair. Although he puts his body on the line a few times, which gets caught on the highlight reels and people think he's good.

You don't go to retire to the MLS and then get released a few months later if you're good. Even Liam Ridgewell's formed a career out there (For the Timbers funnily enough).

Check out this para from Taylor's wiki:

"On 6 August, Taylor turned out for their reserve side against LA Galaxy II, but scored an own goal and substituted at half-time, in what would be an eventual 4–3 win for T2."

As we should. Great player, Liverpool (I assume, can't see Marseille bidding that much) can shove their money up their arses. We don't need it. :dk:
