Put in a similar bid for Judge last January as well. I suppose you got to start somewhere, but best not to go into negotiations looking like a fool from the off!

He's only got 6 months left on his deal and according to reports Barnsley accepted it.

Because it was the summer, Hourihane had only 1 year left on his contract and had never played Championship football before. I didn't expect him to be this good in the division and to be honest I reckon many Barnsley would be lying if they thought he'd be this good in the summer.

No they wouldn't. We all knew what he was capable of. His inexperience at this level is a given but before we'd signed him from Plymouth he hadn't played above League Two. 23 goals in League One for us over two seasons and even more assists so we all knew he was going to be effective up here. We tried to tie him down in the summer but like Winnall he has ambitions away from Barnsley and we're just going to have to accept it.

Midfielders:
Conor Hourihane
Adam Hammill
Ryan Williams
Marley Watkins
Josh Scowen
George Moncur
Charlie Harris

The core is there. Lacking in depth though so could do with a couple of additions before the season starts. Scowen played a lot of the back end of last season in defence and may be expected to drop back again if we get injuries. Potentially plenty of goals from this midfield, but again really lacking in Championship experience for the most part.

Some fans of other clubs were a little more short sighted mind...

Adam Le Fondre
Caolan Lavery
Sam Winnall
Conor Hourihane
Mark Beevers
Danny Mayor
John Egan
George Moncur
Nicky Ajose
Kemar Roofe
Jake Reeves
John Lundstram

Jesus what you been smoking? Only supposed to mention 5 realistic targets.

Most of them are wild as fuck, I'd only take Le Fondre, Moncur and Roofe out of those and we haven't got the money or clout to compete for Moncur or Roofe.

Villa offered Hourihane a deal, reckon he'll go there instead.

Offer of up to £35k a week on the table apparently.

Wolves have signed Duckens Nazon, a Haiti international striker

Someone has a video of his Indian League highlights up on the other site, in those highlights this striker only seems to score one goal, Its like George/Geoffrey Mungi Bia or whatever that fucking muppets name was, player that was seemingly signed for no reason, never played and just dissapeared.

I wager you one pork pie that this lad leaves without playing a game.

Was told 28k, we'd offered him 4 x his Barnsley wage but if that 35k is correct it's 7'x more, they can have him at that cost, not sure he's worth nearly 2m a year in wages.

Thing is, what's to say he would pick Villa over Wednesday anyway?

He's still being offered 28k a week at a club with Premier League ambitions, which is a mammoth pay rise and comes without the aggravation of moving home etc. Although I suppose an hour and half or so isn't too bad a commute to Birmingham. Plus a team mate has just signed there.

Sheffield Wednesday are as much as an atttactive prospect as Villa are at the moment.

We've offered 22k mate, can't blame him if he takes the 28/35k from Villa mind.

Might very well be £28k. I don't claim to be in the know apart from it's a shed load more than we can afford to match.

Fair enough, thought you meant that your lot were offering 28k. Makes more sense now.

Without having to read back through, what offers have been made for Hourihane? I think we have a 20% sell on in there :bdick:

That sounds like a quacking signing...... :tw:

Looks like he is going straight to the development team and is a free agent signed on a 6 month contract, sounds like an extended trail really. He'll be playing for some Div 2 Scottish team in no time no doubt.

Frecklington only lost something like 2 matches last season from when he started which is an amazing stat for a team that finished in 21st place and he must have started over 50% of the matches last season. Not saying he's a better player than Hourihane but injuries have really fucked him up for last couple of seasons and was the main man on the field behind our back to back promotions.

The more important question is, who is Lee Frecklington?

If Reading fans travelled away then you would know he scored the 2nd goal against you lot to send Millwall down in 2015 in a 2-1 win, infact he terrorized your midfield that game if i can remember right.

I last travelled up to Rotherham in 2000 and I bet the place is still stuck in that year.

A game that many Reading fans quickly forget, we were dreadful that night, although had confirmed ourselves safe a few weeks before, so was a midweek game where we had nothing to play for, and Rotherham had everything to play for.

Crazy that was our 45th game of the season and at the end of the game we had 47 points. We have 46 points now.. Only got 52 points last season too.

Has Freckĺington ever matched the sort of stats that Hourihane has shown this season?

No he hasn't been fully fit since 2015 hence why I said that. Helps to read a post properly before replying.

Compare his legue one stats to Hourihane's though.

Frecklington - 13 goals in 49 games.
Hourihane - 11 goals in 53 games.

Been looking for assists but I'd bet a fair amoutn of money Frecks has more.

A 100% fully fit Frecklington is a far better player than Hourihane.
