That's obviously why Newcastle and Sunderland are sniffing then as he can't defend?
Keep underestimating our players bud, keep underestimating them. :fish:
Over the years, we have been 'linked' with Jean Pierre Papin, Rui Costa, Ronaldinho, Lewandowski & Maradona. Until a bid has been submitted, newspaper and Twitter rumours are nothing more than just tedious speculation.

The Sunderland link started in May and it's coming up to August now. If Sunderland want him, they would get him.

Yes, we're shit! Keep on telling yourselves that please. :hypo:
We've just had a Barnsley fan on our club forum 'guaranteeing' that we will be looking up at them ALL season. Put us down with Burton and Rotherham then as we don't deserve to be on the same pitch as huge clubs like erm Birmingham. :conf:
We might be lucky enough to fluke our way to double figures on points.
he also said that Winnall's better than Tomlin, bless.

Purely to level things up, how many center halves do this in one season?

Nigel Pearson did it, on the way to promotion from this level and lifting the League Cup.

yeah, but I imagine they don't want to pay £8m for a centre half who looked completely exposed in a back three for half of last season.

Did he? I never got that far.
We're obviously dreadful, just awful. Back to L1 for us where little clubs like us belong. Leaving the footballing super power of Small Heath to squabble with Villa as we have no chance according to El G and our players are shit. :)

Still didn't look a great record at a glance though, although I understand it's not just down to one defender. I just don't see Flint as a top six player at this level and the rumours surprise me.
Fair enough. I think he is, or at least will grow to be. He's improved massively with every passing year with us, and he's only 25/26 (?) so there's no reason to believe that won't continue. That clip from the Brentford game was during our first season in L1 when he looked an absolute car crash, most of us thought we were massively ripped off at £350k

Also, you could make any defender in the world look shit from 1 or 2 clips. When I get home from work I'll post up the GIF of that Bailly guy Man Utd spent 30 million on

State of Aden Flint letting Nuneaton star Billy Daniels score twice against him.
Well done, we were flirting with relegation that season until Cotterill came in, and Flint didn't get off to the best start with us. How did the season after at your place go....

Love these Flint videos hahaha

Be honest yokels, if he didn't score the odd goal would you be as happy with him in your defence?

Honestly mate, yes I would.

It's easy to single out the games where he was poor, as the highlights don't show Aden Flint making a cracking last ditch tackle.

I'm not saying he's a top end championship defender in terms of his defending, but he scored more goals than any defender in this division last season which is a nice added bonus and I'll bet anyone that he does it again.

Richard Stearman and Aden Flint would be a dream team partnership at this level.

Yes, give him a ball playing defender alongside him and it's all good, any long balls he will deal with.

Another yes here mate.
Flinty does what defenders need to do. Don't fook about, get the ball to where the other team can't score.
Far too many poncy defenders around that can't defend IMHO.

Wasn't that the game where the ref bottled at least 2 penalty claims in the first 15 minutes?

And again, transfer rumour thread, can we create a thread for 'Aden Flint's greatness' and move all these posts there or something?

I don't mind it staying in here, as long as it isn't bothering anyone. At the end of the day, it's not just us City fans discussing it, it's a discussion open to all comparing centre halves of other teams.

It's quiet at this time of year, at least there's something for us to read and you have the choice to engage in discussion.

There's a line admittedly, but if we just posted transfer rumours and confirmed deals in this thread it'd be a bit dull, wouldn't it?

In one of the most boring exchange transfers of all time Scott Malone signs for Fulham while Jazz Richards goes the other way.

Richards is terrible and from what most Cardiff fans tell me, Malone is equally terrible. Both clubs seem happy though

You'll have to let us know who is worse. I'm intrigued.

One upon a time there was a decent player in Malone somewhere, but his "being a complete dick" act gets in the way. The bright lights of London definitely won't help in that regard either.

Dean Whitehead has said he's saying with us to fight for a place, presumably turning down Rotherham. Happy with that as he's a great experienced pro for us to turn to when needed.

Scott Malone? Forgot he was still around. He used to captain our academy sides before we shipped him off to Bournemouth/Millwall.

We have 3 centre backs, not sure why the other city fans seem to think we don't need another

I didn't say we didn't need another just that I can't see Flint, Magnusson or Mawson being content with being on the bench.

Well they shouldn't be, but you need competition for places, one injury as it is and we have just 2 CB and will need Vyner on the bench when it would be better for him to either be playing for the development squad or playing on loan somewhere. We need at least 1 more CB as it is right now.
